• I would have lower risk factors than you for blood clots (more than one relative has had clots and I'm IVF) and I've been put on aspirin for both pregnancies from second trimester. My first pregnancy I was on injections from 1st trimester (at direction of IVF clinic) and for 6 weeks after giving birth.

For some reason IVF clinic decided the injections weren't necessary for my first trimester during second pregnancy (think they changed their risk factor guidelines).

Given your medical history, they're probably being very cautious and you could talk to them about your concerns and if maybe aspirin alone would be sufficient, but clots can be fatal so given you have had clots in the past, I'd be inclined to take the injections.

I found if I put an ice pack or even just frozen peas on my injection site before and getting my partner to do the injections while I didn't look helped. Then I started watching it being done and then eventually I was able to do it myself

  • Ultimately short term stress for you , long term safer for you and baby. Alternatively enter into a questionable situation for your health and babies health and safety. Id trust their medical opinion but always go for a 2nd opinion if you feel they've gotten it wrong.

  • Unfortunately this is standard practice as they do a scoring system for clots. If you’ve ever had one before or even if your family member has they can recommend the shots. It sucks but it is part of pregnancy and safest for you and your baby
