I’m 10 and a half weeks pregnant and due to have my dating scan in rotunda this private in 2 weeks. I was wondering is the 12 & 20 weeks scan done in the consultant room or do they use a different machine/ Grainne suite?
The 12 week scan (and all others) is done in the consultant’s room by the consultant while the 20 week anatomy scan is done in the Grainne suite by the sonographer. You’ll see your consultant straight after this one though and can discuss the results with them too.
The first comment is spot on. I will say that you are apparently meant to book your 20 week scan yourself (via the consultants secretary). I didn't and mine was a couple of weeks late.

Thank so much! I’ve heard the quality to the scanners in consultants rooms isn’t great!? (First pregnancy so not sure if this is true…or relevant!)
It’s not a patch on the Grainne Suite one but we got some really clear pictures from ours the whole way along.
