I'm 15 weeks with first baby and still feeling very fatigued. I can barely make it through the day without a nap and am waking up feeling very tired even after 9+ hours sleep. I am unsure if this is just how pregnancy is supposed to feel or if I should get some blood tests to check things out. My family think I should get checked out but I don't want to be an overly anxious ftm.
I almost fainted on a bus last week too but again not sure how normal feeling weak/faint is at this stage. Would appreciate thoughts from anyone who has been through similar!
I’d ask at you next appointment, you might just be low on iron or something? I had the same and was low on iron and vitamin d…
Hi! I’m also 15 weeks and I also feel the same! Did you get bloods at your booking visit? Specifically haemoglobin and thyroid. I did but they seem to have gotten “lost”. I’m just going to wait for my next appointment to get them repeated but I have thought about going to gp to get them done in the meantime.
Have you had your booking appointment yet? You will get bloods drawn then. In the meantime take a prenatal with iron in it if you have no issues with iron (but it can cause constipation). My bloods were normal during my pregnancy but I suffered fairly bad fatigue and was in bed by 7pm every night, it can be a very normal pregnancy symptom but definitely worth mentioning at your next GP or midwife appointment just so it's noted Incase it shows up alongside other symptoms that might be more concerning.
Take iron supplements and have your levels tested.
I feel like this at 19 weeks but I think it's partly because I have a toddler this time around and partly low iron stores.
It’s very normal to feel tired, your body is doing a lot of very difficult things right now. But all the same it’s no harm to go to your GP for a blood test as iron deficiency is really common around now
Are you taking prenatals? Some don't have iron in them, once I started taking the ones with iron I didn't need daytime naps any more until the third trimester fatigue
I would certainly ask. I was like this throughout my pregnancy and assumed it was normal and transpired at 34 weeks I was severely anemic after I drove my husbands car into a wall 😅 there’s no harm in a blood draw. The anemia also impacted the start of my breastfeeding journey so I would definitely recommend asking.
I would definitely get your bloods taken, haemoglobin especially. I was napping daily until about 22/23 weeks constantly exhausted couldnt do too many things on the same ot consecutive days, i thought it would never end but Im 34 weeks now and have more energy than my first/beginning of second trimester!
