People told me I should post this here. I filmed this in a Sony a7siii with a 24-105 F4 at 120FPS. I was there to film some construction of a boat dock and got lucky and captured this goose flying out of some fog over the water!
"Thats god damn majestic" is literally the thought that I had. Then I was wondering how much id need to spend in equipment to capture a similar video. Thankfully OP laid out the gear.
Duck physicist here. You are mostly right except touching the water would actually add drag and work. And I’m always right. I thought it was wrong once but I was mistaken.
First time we saw one was on holiday in-country, where my daughter kept calling it the 'Angry Goose'. We kept trying to correct her, and didn't know we went too far until she started telling people off for saying angry instead of Egyptian in any context...
Wow fantastic video, it was very enjoyable to watch that absolutely stunning goose. It's the most beautiful goose I've ever seen. Thanks so much for sharing.
Nice, I once (sincerely) made an eight minute piece of music with cello samples called "Flight of the Goose" as an antithesis of "Flight of the Bumblebee", and this is exactly what I pictured when I was composing that piece.
These geese aren’t native to Texas or North America, back in the 60’s some escaped from private collections. They can also mate with other geese to produce hybrid offspring. Beautiful bird!
There is a park/lake near where I live that has some of these and every once in a while they will fly over to the neighborhood and perch on top the houses. I had a pair land on the roof of the house that is behind mine once, and they proceeded to make the most unholy obnoxious sound for about 90 minutes straight at 6am on a Saturday.
When they first started, I thought someone was working on the roof.
Do you know what the zoom was set to? (there's a huge difference between 24 and 105 of course!). I'm guessing closer to 105, but the shot is quite stable, so maybe less?
That’s pretty majestic.

x
Haha thank you!! I kept seeing it flying back and forth and walked to the edge of the boat dock and snagged this!
The goose is touching the water with its wing tip, intentionally, for dramatic effect.
Ngl, I do that too if I know I'm on camera while taking flight
Ackchyually - pushes up glasses with finger - It is utilizing the ground effect
Isn't that why it's flying close to the water, not why it touches the water.
The goose knows that the tip touching the water means that it doesn't have to work as hard.
Duck physicist here. You are mostly right except touching the water would actually add drag and work. And I’m always right. I thought it was wrong once but I was mistaken.
It doesn't touch the water with every wingbeat, only when it is banking to make a turn.

"Silly goose. You're on the wrong continent!"
It attended method acting classes
Haha it sure seemed like it knew what it was doing!
It's the goose version of when kids imagine a person running alongside them when they're in the backseat of a car
This is an amazing video! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you!
With how long it was skimming it feels like it's just flexing on us flightless mere morals.
By taking advantage of "ground" effects to fly more efficiently.
The bird is Using physics to flex even harder i see.
Just got it's PhD
Stunning. Thank you for your awesome camerawork!
Thank you for the kind words!
Amazing! thanks for sharing!
Absolutely! Thanks for watching!
Sublime grace-fullness.
This should be in r/bowtothecameraman
I clicked !
Was it worth it? Did you join? Did you bow? Was there a pay wall? Give us something
I regret nothing
So sorry I just thought there should be a next level sub for shots like this.
Haha thank you! I was simply at the right place at the right time!
Enjoy being one of the top videos in "All time" cause i know this video will do very good
Thank you! I appreciate the kind words!
Fascinating
That was spectacular❤️
Stunning!
Praising you rn bro
Thank you!!!
Jesus Christ! Are you a DP ? What equipment were you using?
Haha I am a videographer for a construction YouTube channel for my main job. I was using a Sony a7siii and a 24-105 lens
Beautiful shot!
Incredible video!
Thank you!
Flock like an Egyptian
it flew to Austin to defend the premier Egyptologist against Joe Rogan‘s ham-handed attempt to discredit him earlier this year.
It's all in his book.
Are you a goose?
F**king beautiful. 😢 Thank you.
I was blessed to be able to catch it!
Finally, some great OC
what a graceful flight. it makes it look really easy
Geez it must be tired after flying all the way from Egypt to Lake Austin 😜
Are they big honking jerks like Canadian geese?
That goose looks like a duck
Fun fact. It actually is a duck. Their name is "goose", but the bird is a duck.
I knew it. Geese don't look like ducks
In Dutch they are also called Goose instead of Duck. So I guess these ducks look like goose.
What do the Dutch call ducks?
These ducks we call "Nijlgans", 'Gans' means goose. 'Eend' means duck.
That’s a sexy goose
Habibi
We have them here in South Florida. One of the loudest, most obnoxious birds. They never shut up!
Silly goose that's not Egypt
Apologies I saw no one else had said it
It's also not a true goose! :D They're Shelducks
Is ICE aware of this gooses entry to the united states?
I suggest a task force to apprehend
Love these.

Divine, thank you for sharing :)
Thank you for watching!
That's a great video. Such a majestic goose
Feeling at peace watching this. Thanks for the share.
Wow that’s awesome! Most of my work is construction based. I may start filming more nature content.
Well captured, nicely done. Good job camera person
Thank you!
You're welcome
Was it focused manually or was it done by autofocus?
Auto focus for this shot. This is slowed down to 15% its original speed.
Nice job on the movment . Beautiful.
Thank you! Was all handheld too. Probably the best shot I have ever taken.
Loved water skiing on that lake/river
Imaculate tracking!
Thank you! Was all handheld too!
Stunning.
fantastic
Great job!!
Thank you!!
(That moment when you're playing "insert favorite GTA game here" and you're flying your plane just over the water)
Does it have to watch out for ICE?
Is it invasive?
In Portugal they are extremely invasive and territorial against other species
I’ve heard that they are yeah
That's a beautiful bird! I love the colors!
How do you know he is Egyptian? Does he offer you food the moment you step into his house?
Wow. Beautiful 😍
I didn't know they made shiny cobra chickens
These geese aren’t native to Texas or North America, back in the 60’s some escaped from private collections. They can also mate with other geese to produce hybrid offspring. Beautiful bird!
Prettiest cobra chicken I ever saw!
Perfection
Why is it called Egyptian goose if it’s in Austin?
Do they migrate from the east. Please tell me they do!
They're from Egypt. They're introduced in a lot of the world. They're also not geese, they're Shelducks.
Where exactly was this on Lake Austin?
Near the oasis if you know where that is.
Obviously your name is not Jack, that is not the type of exotic bird he likes!
This is so majestic and beautiful! Thanks for sharing 🙏
Wow that's amazing!

Wow how beautiful
"Because I was inverted."
"coughbullshitcough"
Port wing is a little low. Have maintenance take a look.
Such a beautiful bird .
Absolutely Magnificent 👏 Bravo for this beautiful video, this masterful flight 🪿
That’s a thing of beauty. Gorgeous shot of it!
Do you know what the zoom was set to? (there's a huge difference between 24 and 105 of course!). I'm guessing closer to 105, but the shot is quite stable, so maybe less?
Yeah it was at 105 for sure.
So beautiful especially when the wings touched the water
The odds of just the right DNA sequence to result in such a creation. The mind boggles.
Most beautiful goose I've ever seen
"Quick, someone call ICE"
(YOU KNOW THEY'RE THINKING IT)
Him and his reflection are touching tips
That thing is majestic af
How did the egyptian goose get to texas?
I honestly don’t know!
Unfortunate, because wikipedia also didn't help. But thank you for the reply nontheless.
when I think of animals in ancient Egypt I picture something like this
That's beautiful
Wow! This really is beautiful!
reminds me of the kaido racer intro
Doesn't get any better then that.
Omg.. I want it
Soooo cooool👏👏👏
that’s trippy as hell
Beautiful!
That is an absolutely beautiful fowl.
Long way from Egypt.
