Gonna hazard a guess that they were referring to Ohtani, McDavid, and Jokic. Not sure if there's a consensus best player in football, but that's the outlier.
Until this year it was Mahomes for sure, or Josh Allen, both American. I think Allen is probably the best now, maybe Lamar Jackson but he’s on a down year too.. and all 3 are American anyway
Yeah they were the three that came to mind, but since they're all American, I knew it didn't really matter in this context which one I think/everyone thinks is the best
Ohtani just lucky no one would believe he took a year off and when and played Basketball. Anyone who thinks the interpreter made those bets without his knowledge is an idiot. It’s even come out in documents that the Japanese bookie preferred that high profile bettors use an intermediary, for this exact reason.
I don't follow hockey but it looks like McDavid was born in Canada and lives/plays in Canada so that doesn't make sense to me.
Or are we trying to say that hockey is an American sport? That makes even less sense.
Edit: are you just saying that in the sense of viewership? I guess that would make sense. I just don't know many Americans that would think of hockey as an American sport, specifically.
"The Big 4" is a very common term in America referring to Football, Baseball, Basketball, and Hockey. Although it originates in Canada and has generally been dominated by Canadian players so it isn't that surprising.
They literally had the best regular season in NHL history in 2022-2023. I HATE Boston I’m a Canucks fan and a Seahawks fan so they’ve ripped my heart out twice but cmon man
I’m a Habs fan but this is just false. Since 2011 they made it to the final in 2013 and 2019 and have consistently been in the playoffs barring a few seasons
A Canadian team owned by Canada's largest media conglomerate - the only team in baseball owned by a corporation. The same corporation that owns all of Toronto's professional sports teams.
I don’t really know much about baseball. When the batter hits the ball and stands there watching the ball instead of running at top speed towards the base, has the ball ever NOT gone into a home run? It always seems odd to me that they’re not running.
I think the logic is that it either goes out of the park for a home run, or an outfielder catches it. A much less likely scenario is that the outfielder fumbles the catch; in that case the batter has time to run.
They generally know when they catch enough of it to hit it out. there are edge cases and usually the batter runs for those. But more often than not if they crank it to the outfield, but it doesn’t go out, the ball gets caught and they’re out anyway.
I think managers hate it when they don’t run it out though.
In our league, you hit, run then if you get to first base the coach there yells stop or keep going. There’s no good reason for a player to watch the ball after they hit it in a game imo.
I live across the lake in Rochester and I felt this moment from here. I grew up a Yankees fan because it's my dad's team, but I'm more and more drawn to the Jays ever since I moved out here.
Nothing would be more fitting than having a Canadian team win Americas pastime.
And if we had lost it would have been large in part to Ontario native Josh Naylor, now we face another top tier Canadian in Freddie
The most likely outcome is the Dogers winning, with their superstar player being an immigrant.
Of the big 4 American sports, the best player in 3 of them isn't American.
Who are the best players in all 4 sports?
Gonna hazard a guess that they were referring to Ohtani, McDavid, and Jokic. Not sure if there's a consensus best player in football, but that's the outlier.
Spot on. Even if you gave SGA for basketball as the most recent MVP but I personally still favor Jokic.

If I was Pete Rose I’d be fucking livid.
Who are these 3 players? Ohtani, Doncic, ?
Ohtani, Jokic, McDavid were who I was thinking.
In the NBA you can have your pick of SGA/Jokic/Doncic/Giannis in the top 5 players. After last night you could maybe even put Wemby up there.

While Canada has been waiting 32 years for a Cup
Sorry man. I understand. I know you guys don’t like my Bruins too much but I can relate.
You guys? And the bruins haven’t been good since 2011

Lmao still suck tho
Playoffs don’t count unless you raise the Cup. Losing is losing. Only one cup since 72. You guys= Canadians usually don’t like the Bruins.
You guys being Canadian people.

I dunno man, hard to root for them.
It’s only fair considering an American team has won the Canadian Football League.
It’d be giving Jesse Owens at the Berlin Games in front of Hitler.
hahaha yess

good to know. Thanks for the explanation!
I’m not sure but it’s pretty obvious to any seasoned fan or player that it’s almost certainly over the wall.

I think the same about the managers. I'd want my guys to run every time just in case.

Black Soxs?
The Black Ssoxss Sscandal was the ssportss sscandal of the ccentury!
Astros were scapegoats for a league wide problem. Get over it.
I’ve never heard that claim before (besides for the Red Sox whose manager was with the Astros in 2017 when all that was going down). Source?
Mookie Betts: “Everybody was.” https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2023/02/21/mookie-betts-everybody-was-aware-2018-red-sox-stole-signs/11316385002/#
You misread that. He’s saying everyone on the team was aware of the cheating their team was doing, not that everyone in MLB was doing it.
I accept it is ambiguous. “Were you aware that Group A is cheating?” “Everyone was.” To me, that says everyone was cheating not everyone was aware. But it is ambiguous. Regardless, Yankees cheated then spent years trying to cover up the evidence in federal appellate court. https://www.mlb.com/amp/news/mlb-yankees-statements-2017-letter.html. And others have said other teams cheated universally. https://out.reddit.com/t3_yf7ytq?app_name=ios&token=AQAAGwb8aOPbPsz3EVw5vhj6BZGtdCxS2wQR5c1i3tu5ZLDw8_eA&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.si.com%2Fmlb%2Fastros%2Fnews%2Flucas-giolito-claims-all-teams-besides-houston-astros-were-cheating-world-series and https://www.si.com/mlb/2020/01/13/houston-astros-cheating-punishment and https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/oakland-as-pitcher-chris-bassitt-says-astros-werent-only-team-in-mlb-stealing-signs/
Did anyone hear the garbage can?
Fantastic tracking through obstacles. Huge home run!

I wanna see the reverse shot. The pitchers reaction!
what a high that must be
Watching this as a Mariners fan is like watching Russell Wilson throw at the one-yard line as a Seahawks fan.
Probably cheated.
Daaaaaaa Jays Win! 😎💎🍁🐦
As a Canadian Red Sox fan who has ZERO hate for The Jays....LET'S GOOOOOO!!!!!! Bring er home, birds!
It's that OTHER team in the AL East, I cannot stand. Yuck. P'tooie!
Wasn’t he part of that astro team with those trashcans though?
Same vibes as the kawhi shot
Fucken BadAss, man!!! Awesome to see from that viewpoint!!! 💥⚾️
Yes
LETS GO!!!!
Professional camera guy paid to film a game accomplished the filming of the game.
Edit: not sure why the down votes. If the standard for the sub is to just film a game then just post every sports highlight reel.
Yes, just doing his job but it’s still a nice shot.
The blurred background allows one to focus on the player who is quite expressive in his joy.
Saying he’s just doing his job is akin to saying Springer was just doing his job, why celebrate the home run at all?
Ikr what is this? I thought he was gonna track the ball or something not someone moving at a perfectly normal speed
it’s that one cheater from the Astros !
Spring, springing, sprung!
So many videos that aren't praise worthy lately.
