First I added some white slip over a dark clay and let it firm up
I set a circular cookie cutter against the inner rim and traced the curve to the center of the plate. then I moved the circle to the side a little bit and traced the next line
once all the lines were traced in both directions I scratched away the white slip sgraffito style. keep the glaze thin and you'll see the difference in clay bodies with a majority of glaze, doesn't have to be transparent
