Hello everyone , I have my first fencing tournament next weekend and I’m very nervous. I’ve been training so hard and have really been trying not to have self doubt. Any and all positivity welcome. Thank you in advance.
Maybe try to realize: It is absolutely adequate to be nervous!
It is your first tournament, and there probably will be people who are better than you.
Before you even start in the competition there, you already have a series of wins: You registered, you prepared, you went there, you didn't get so sick that you can't go ;) you started to cope with your nervousness.
You can do it!!! I bet you started doing this because you enjoy it. Keep that enjoyment at the forefront of your mind; no matter what happens, how cool is it that you stuck with this long enough to do a tournament?! So many people never get that far, and that is soooooo cool that you did!!! That speaks of so much dedication and practice, and that is honestly rad.
I'm definitely a proponent of the cheesy old outlook that it doesn't matter whether you win or lose, just whether you had a good time. Also, if you win, you will learn something! If you lose, you will learn something!! You will receive a benefit no matter how it goes. The results of this do not define you. They will only add to your experience, and help you get better!
Wow, fencing is such a cool and niche sport to have ANY proficiency in. I am so jealous!! It sounds like you are really putting in the work, and I bet that will show. In times of stress, our brains and bodies fall back on training and discipline. I totally get feeling nervous, but I bet you will do well. Best of luck to you!!
Luck is about preparation and application, you have done the prep, you only now need to apply it which should be just redoing your training sessions.
You've got this, whatever happens you will have done your best 💪
Don't worry mate. Everyone is nervous when they do something like what you are doing. 🙂
Musicians throw up constantly because they are so nervous and resort to alcohol (haha but don't do that, obviously 😅).
Just remember you are not alone and do your best. Everyone else is nervous as well.
I am keeping my thumbs up for you. 👍👍
Do ur best and trust the hard work!!!
You got this!
I've been fighting mma for years now and before that was a soldier.
Fear is good; it keeps you sharp. After all, you can't be brave if you're not scared first.
