A new battle mechanic for my game Pokemon Trails. Allows trainers to use tactical commands before attacking. Tactics generally have a positive and a negative affect and cost AP to use. AP is gained each turn. This is an alpha version with most of the functionality worked out, but ugly as sin with the placeholder graphics. Player can also press N to hide the AP Bar.

During this demo video, the ap cost for all commands is set to 1. The AI is works fine for now, but will definitely be getting an upgrade. The effects animations are placeholders and there are more commands that do more than +/- stats. Let me know what you think and any command suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  • Nice , looks interesting. Just make sure you don't create a "perfect" solution. for example, a tactic which make you never fall asleep, with no downside, that every pokemon can use. Or an easy way to raise attack. Moves like Dragon dance/ swords dance are rare for a reason.

    Thanks for that. That is something ive have been playing close attention to. I have a few solutions for minimizing these issues that will need further testing. Once i finish with functionality and Enemy AI, I will probably spend forever tackling balance.

  • This looks cool but I'm actually more interested in how your animations look so good lol. I have the Gen 9 Move Animation plugin and the stats up and stats down look similar but yours look exactly like the gen 5 versions. Did you create those yourself or is there some plugin for those?

    my project is on psdk not essentials. These are the default animations that are included.
