as the title says. how do you uninstall games that you downloaded from steamrip?

they already come pre installed so all you have to do is just extract them where you want it to be but then after you are done completing the game, how do you uninstall it. i cant seem to find the uninsta file to uninstall it and it doesnt show as installed program or game in windows settings or in Revo uninstaller which i mainly use for uninstalling stuff.

do you just delete the folder that the game is in?

then what about the junk files in the other parts of the pc that will remain there forever?

thats why i was wondering how to properly uninstall games from steamrip.

if you guys know how to then please help me.

  • just delete the folder

  • Yes just delete the folder.

will it not leave other junk files outside of the game folder like the save files or other files? that was my main issue with it ?

    Save files will remain yeah.

i am fine with the save files cus i like to save the progress i made in the game and t have it as a back up. i just wanted to ask, besides the save files will it leave other junk files or the save files are all that remains after folder deletion?

Some registry keys and firewall rules will be left behind, not much worth. Use Revo Uninstaller if you want to get rid of them.

Nah, Steamrip do something special, the games all save their registry entries to the installation folder, they’re 100% portable.

I have no idea how they did it because I love it.

Registry can't be accessed by explorer. The games might be portable but they will generate new registy entries every time you move the game.

Revo is a great tool not just for this, but for uninstalling anything. No need to pay, the free version does everything you need.

Just going to shout out that this is not always the case. Some games save directly to the game folder; where deleting the game will also delete the saves of that game

Checkout PCGamingWiki for where your saves are located and backup before deleting the game

  • Steamrip games aren't really installed, they're more like portable apps. Just delete the folder

oh ok, but do i have to manually delete the save files that are saved outside of the game folder and gotta hunt down other junk files related to the game? cause deleting the folder just gets rid of the game but the other files just stay there for eternity.

If you want to get rid of them, and are that low on storage then yes

nah, i just hate leaving those files for no reason. i do have decent space so not hurting.

You can use revo uninstaller. What I do is a create a shortcut and place it in the desktop, then use Hunter mode to target that shortcut. Removes everything including the appdata folders

Thanks for the tip, this is a great idea!

  • Delete the folder. Empty Recycle bin.

  • Delete the game folder , the one that you download

  • I know Hibit Uninstaller can scan all related files and registry keys according to the software .exe file. But I didn't try it in deleting pre-installed games, because I'm not 100% sure would it delete unrelated files or registry keys. Maybe you could try it in a virtual machine first.

  • If just deleting the folder doesn't cut it for you, then you could use Bulk Crap Uninstaller. It scans your disk for all the programs, not just the ones registered. You can delete any preinstalled game from there. It will also handle the junk registry data

  • Just delete the folder, most games will create files/folders in appdata folder for game settings and saves. You can delete those if you want to. But just deleting the zipped and unzipped folder is good

  • use bulkcrap uninstaller. it removes everything from related files to reg files

  • To be honest, even when properly uninstalling games, via the uninstall.exe, the save games tend to remain behind.
Some uninstallers ask you if you want to remove all files but I haven't seen it in a long while, personally.

The save files are so small that they shouldn't pose a storage problem, and there is always a chance a sequel comes out and you can upload the old saves so you get bonuses.

There could also be some files in the *Appdata* folders: Local, LocalLow, Roaming etc, where most of the times the games save Settings, presets, caches, shaders, etc. You can manually search there and delete files from a game you have uninstalled, if you find any.

Steamrip don't need to install anything, just unpack and run the exe...

  • My main concern is that im scared the game might leave harmful files somewhere in the pc even when doing everything correctly, from installation to deletion, does anyone know how i can ensure that the file is safe when installed and no files are left behind when deleted?
