Hey guys, long time lurker short time poster here.

I know that there are a few germans on this sub and I wanted to discuss the state of piracy in Germany. As you all know, getting English or Russian content is trivial and free (as it should be). You simply pick your favourite public tracker and voila - there you go. No cent spent whatsoever.

However I have not come upon a single public German tracker at all yet. It's either private trackers, which good luck on getting into, or paid filehosting for direct download.

Now, I get that hosting files on a server costs money, fair enough.

I also don't want to talk about being a cheapskate or something like that who can't spare 30€ a year for a filehoster, but c'mon, y'all know exactly why we're here to begin with.

So how come, that in 2025, every single German source of pirated media is behind some sort of paywall? Torrents are frowned upon in Germany, nothing new here, but everyone I know so far has a VPN for that.

Maybe I am missing out on something, perhaps Usenet (which is also paid?) OR the German scene builds upon revenue they get from referrals for said filehosters?

Update:

Went with Usenet.. Worth every penny. Don't bother with torrents or looking for sites to download free shit if you're German. A proper provider and indexer should cost you no more than 40€/yr
