My parents couldn't afford to get ours modded. But I remember getting really good at the hotswap trick that let you play burnt PS1 games.
Start it up with a real official disk with the lid open and lid sensor held down, wait until the right moment after it's verified that it's a real disk, then quickly grab it and put a burnt game in there. Always felt like I was Indiana Jones in Raiders Of The Lost Ark trying to swap out the idol.
Apparently the copy protection was just some special wobbly track on the official disks that makes the read head shake in a certain way, but once it passes that check at the start it's otherwise like any other data CD. The modded chip just skipped that check by sending approved signal regardless or something like that, I think.
I grew up in Xbox 360/PS3/Wii gen consoles, and I wish I jumped onto the ps3 instead of the Wii. I've now moved to a ps/Xbox player, so my switch, Wii and Wii u have been collecting dust for a couple of months
Honestly surprised they are worried about that, when literally Amazon is selling emulators with Nintendo stuff on it , just called monkey quest instead of donkey Kong yet its the same.
For anyone confused by the title, its meant to parody Pikachu's "Pika, Pika, Pika" since Nintendo will brick your console if the system learns it has pirated content.
The console is still usable. Walk to a store and buy a game. Play the games you have. Bricking means the device is rendered unusable. Its not "playing semantics" you just dont know what the word means
... Dude. Game Key Cards are one major issue where you can't put it all on the console.
Not to mention some publishers do not put all of the content onto the card itself
You punching down on the audience for Nintendo relying on one storage capacity does not make this issue any better.
You are barred from playing games, on a Switch 2, and games you play and trying to make excuses for a company that decides what to do with a console YOU legally purchased.
You flat out decided to argue with me about what happens when a person loses access to the eshop along with cloud saves then ignore the fact that it's only usable offline when you need to update the software.
I dont think you know how to read. All im saying is that bricking means your device is rendered completely unusable. I dont know how you cant seem to understand that, its honestly impressive.
They banned people from the platform for just moving games without their say so.
The system is merely on loan. If I had a connection to Nintendo games, maybe I would but just getting them online isn't going to fix everything from what's been done so far.
I was going to sit this round out with switch 2 but stacking the 25% off Costco Black Friday eshop gift cards with credit I already had I effectively got a bundle with Mario kart for just over 299$
This is exactly my point I want to buy their stuff I want to support them but everything is either ultra expensive or they shut down the only way of me getting the game digitally and her physical version is £300 (yo-Kai watch 3)
I bought a Switch Lite during the Panda and spent $60 on Animal.Crossing and that was fun, but I don't even touch it now. There are games I'd like to play, but not for $60 (and FYI Nintendo your 15% "sales" mean nothing.
Nintendo really said the draw 25 looks easier.
Then Nintendo sued the shit out of the people who made the draw 25 card. As Nintendo is want to do.
I don't understand the people who buy the Nintendo because they say they had one when they are kid
I only had PlayStation as a kid, a chipped one, because my parents knew a guy who did it and had it done to ours. Had a bunch of pirated PS1 games.
The Nintendo kids were missing out.

Ah, yes, I've only heard about that trick later.

Bro I work as a game cracker and the requests i get are absolutely hilarious some people ask me to make Nintendo games on PC or PS
I buy “the Nintendo” because I like playing Nintendo games and can afford to do so. Simple really.
I pirate old Nintendo games because I can and it’s easier than playing legit.
I feel like the new Nintendo stuff isn't even worth pirating. I just keep replaying dk64, Mario sunshine, luigis mansion 1.
Honestly surprised they are worried about that, when literally Amazon is selling emulators with Nintendo stuff on it , just called monkey quest instead of donkey Kong yet its the same.

They could, but they haven't done it, though. They just ban your hardware ID from using online features
... How are you gonna download games if they block online features?
That’s not what bricking is
So let me get this straight...
They deny you access to get games and now we're playing semantics?
The console is still usable. Walk to a store and buy a game. Play the games you have. Bricking means the device is rendered unusable. Its not "playing semantics" you just dont know what the word means

Im not arguing whether or not it is good, I dont know why you are saying that. You do not know what BRICKED means
You flat out decided to argue with me about what happens when a person loses access to the eshop along with cloud saves then ignore the fact that it's only usable offline when you need to update the software.

Looks like this whole argument boils down to actual bricking vs functional bricking lol.
Through your phone or PC. Or back in the good ol days, a Tinfoil shop
Just like what got you banned in the first place: Pirate them
They banned people from the platform for just moving games without their say so.
The system is merely on loan. If I had a connection to Nintendo games, maybe I would but just getting them online isn't going to fix everything from what's been done so far.
Thats like 2014 level dank..
I was going to sit this round out with switch 2 but stacking the 25% off Costco Black Friday eshop gift cards with credit I already had I effectively got a bundle with Mario kart for just over 299$
This is from Switch 2 right?
If yes, then im glad for never getting that shitty inferior handheld device.
why would they do that if they still sell well? their consumers have to change first
This ain't the most economically literate sub. As long as someone's willing to pay the price then it's fair.
Nintendo is gonna draw 25 no doubt about it
i feel like nintendo gets a disproportionate amount of attention here from other companies with a fair amount of misinformation
it shouldn't even be relevant today
This is exactly my point I want to buy their stuff I want to support them but everything is either ultra expensive or they shut down the only way of me getting the game digitally and her physical version is £300 (yo-Kai watch 3)
Fair price? are you mad? do you want bankrupcy or somethin!?
They said "Fair Price" Because nintendo prices are fucking expensive, shitty Exclusive, and unfair these days.
Or do you fine to waste money for 80 Dollar/Euros for a shitty nintendo exclusive game on that, same with a inferior console?
But thats still consumer issue if they keep buying expensive slops.

It would actually break my heart if a competent game developer was doing this.
