Weird Al is hands down the best concert I have ever been to. Not many things can make me completely forget my everyday life. Honestly it was one of the few times I was able to just truly enjoy something.
Caught him for my first time in August. Im going to take my son in June for another show. Its a fucking blast the entire time. Can't wait for my son to be so confused by the strange clown waxing poetically about Kevin Costner
the clown will make himself understood (he's really good at that)..........but how the fuck will you explain kevin costner to your son? is he old enough to grapple with existential horror, or is this some kind of punishment?
Look when I was his age I was asking for a copy of Waterworld on VHS. He will be 9 by time the concert rolls around, that's old enough to start seeing the world for what it truly is. Even the Kevin Costner of it all
I am sorry to hear you had to miss it, but glad you're having the chance to go again. I hope you'll enjoy the show! It'll probably be a while before he comes back to Europe again so have a good time on my behalf as well!
I have been to every major festival and spent 10 years of my life seeing bands of all kinds. Weird Al is hands down the greatest stage show I ever saw. There were other 'cooler' bands and acts that made me feel more, but Weird Al is the greatest performer alive in the world maybe. It somehow reminded me of Vaudeville even though I'm not familiar with or really know what Vaudeville is. It was all just so much and so over the top and so well done and so fucking awesome.
I've been a fan since I was a kid. Years ago, I believe during Run With Scissors, he serenaded my mom to "Just One More Minute," for a huge chunk of the song and it was the best. She was laughing and crying. Saw him again years later with the orchestra and he did the same thing, this time to I think six women, giving out underwear to each one he pulled from his pants as he moved from one to another. Unfortunately he got the woman one row ahead so my wife missed out.
He is a fantastic show and he goes 100% the entire time.
Not many things can make me completely forget my everyday life
That sucks. Have you tried meditation? It's a long-term commitment, but it does the trick on demand, once you master it. Off topic, but I felt bad when I read that
Yeah, completely off topic but it is hard to sit down and actually enjoy things. I am always thinking "i shouldnt be playing this video game, i got chores to do around the house." My life has just gotten so busy between a kindergartener, wife, work, and all the time sinks that adult life entails. Its just hard for me to set everything aside and take the time to really enjoy something these days.
There are so many traditions, schools, teachers, etc. out there. Even apps. Just open the first door that you find, practice it, learn from it and when you outgrow it, you'll have a much better idea what you're looking for and what you need to do next. It's like anything else, really. Say you're learning to play the guitar, you start with whatever you can get your hands on, as you progress you become more discerning and get a better one. So I really don't want to name any names at this point, but once you start and you feel you need something more, hit me up and I'll help hook you up with something better suited to you.
Had tickets this summer, was super excited because I had been trying to see puddles also. then took a gig working for a large event that had me out of town on the date.
Get back home, start a new job at a place that builds and operates tour busses, see a few signed posters in offices. Everyone says he is awesome.
I saw him for the first time in a small venue like 10 years ago and he sat in my then girlfriends lap twice during the show, I finally got my now wife and son to their first one and they were blown away by how awesome he is in concert. A true legend and showman.
My family has been twice, once for strings attached, and another for his tour this past summer. Growing up watching the dvd, specifically Smells like Nirvana, Saga Begins, Amish Paradise, and Headline news. I've had a great time. I'll never not bring my dad along to see Weird Al.
My gf didn’t know much about Weird Al other than he had a biopic. I already had seen it, but as far as my gf knew it was just an everyday run of the mill biopic. Watching her watch this movie was my favourite part
Is it as good as his original biopic? The Compleat Al (a take on the Compleat Beatles) was hilarious. Especially if you had seen the Beatles documentary on which it is based.
I remember watching this video on the family computer when I was like 9 and the joke being completely lost on me. It actually made me terrified of downloading any music.
When I was downloading music in middleschool I remember downloading songs and getting disappointed when it was actually this song with the file name changed lol. the first time it kinda worried me honestly.
Yeah I believe he made that song right after his record contract expired and he was able to go independent, and it was immediately made free on his MySpace, since MySpace had better support for media uploads at the time.
Check out the song "Life and times of a bonus track" by Edguy. Its from the point of view of the bonus track, being ripped from the cd and spread on the internet.
Back in the olden times, when the Internet was still relatively new, he had a website with one section called "Ask Al" where people could submit questions and he'd answer them. IIRC he did a ton of them.
Let me quote one from May 2000:
Hey Al!!!!! What do u think about Napster? I just want to know if you approve.
I have very mixed feelings about it. On one hand, I’m concerned that the rampant downloading of my copyright-protected material over the Internet is severely eating into my album sales and having a decidedly adverse effect on my career. On the other hand, I can get all the Metallica songs I want for FREE! WOW!!!!!
Dunno hes joking or not, but thats basically it with piracy. Everybody think its fine and wont effect much, until its your own bottom line. Now you actuallt feel the effect it has and suddenly you say its bad.
He's clearly joking around. Mentioning Metallica specifically is the biggest tip off. Also he's Weird Al.
He's said elsewhere that it doesn't bother him, it just spreads the music, makes new fans, and more fans means more support for concerts and other projects.
I work with an older guy named Al who's our expert on a few things. Sentences like "We need to ask Al" have become very easy to misread over the past few years.
Hopefully this motivates the English speaking world to increase widespread use of fonts that clearly distinguish capital "i" and lowercase "L"! (It won't)
Thanks for reminding me, I already changed fonts for my e-ink reader for better readability. But it makes sense to do it for my phone too. l and I suck otherwise.
He was my first live concert as a kid. I still remember the 20-30m break they had on stage as it got dark..wondering what the hell was going on. Then the music started as the lights came on, and Weird Al busting out with his fat suit on lmao.
I've been a fan of Al’s for years, and I finally got to see him live when he came to the UK in 2023. It was one of the best shows I’ve been to. I also can’t quite believe he’s in his 60s, he still looks and sounds incredible.
Bro has been making music since the 1970s, looks 35, makes his entire career off of riffing on people and mocking specific cultures, has had no scandals, and is universally loved.
If he was a fictional character people would call bullshit.
I mean my mom thinks he's a gay (her highest insult) hippie on drugs, who makes fun of serious issues, like the fact that Black people are degenerates and that the world should have keeled over in 1959.
Weird Al is just a great person overall. In the 90s, he turned down a very lucrative beer endorsement deal, because he knew he was very popular with kids and it would be a bad influence on them.
I met Weird Al on the side of the road on Maui maybe a decade ago (we lived in the same area, I have since moved.) I said hello, he introduced himself and his agent who was with him at the time, we spoke brielfy, and I offered him $10 bucks out of my pocket to "pay for 'Bob', which I pirated seconds after discovering."
In what is still one of the proudest moments of my life, I broke Weird Al. He doubled over laughing, stood back up after a moment..... and took my 10 bucks.
As they walked away I heard his agent tell him "I want my 10%"

I’d absolutely recommend seeing him live, the man puts on a great show and, while I have seen a lot of performers, I haven’t seen many who make it look so natural as he does. A real pro.
He's the only celebrity I have ever met in person (at a TGI Friday's no less). Super chill and nice guy. I think if I ever meet another celebrity in my life I'll be disappointed.

And one of the best things about him is that although he could technically do all of his songs without the original artists' permission, he always gets it anyway.
I wonder if this means a) no one will come after you for doing this, b) I have some pull and will try to convince them to not come after you, or c) fuck it, roll the dice and see
I’ve seen him in concert every time He’s come to Australia.
The most recent one bothered me, not the fact it wasn’t a show and was just him, doing a low down, low key show, thats fine, hes always entertaining.
What shit me up the wall was the Production company, emailing everyone, the photo album from the night and not using BCC, so not only did EVERYONE have each others emails like a chain mail from the 90’s of all atendee customers, different nights used different passwords and they were all shared too in the same email.
Just a real dumbarse who wrote and sent that email out.
Weird Al is the best. The money's nice, sure, but he just wants to make people happy with music. Same with my other fave insane musician Louis Cole. "Just wanna make enough money to keep doing thiiiiiiiis" Money - Louis Cole
I cant find anything to corroborate this. the only things I can find about his religion are him saying he identifies as christian, and the hollywood church of christ calling him a brother in a facebook post which probably means he is a member of that church.
His biopic is the best
I saw him in concert a while back in the Netherlands. He loudly proclaimed: "Who here has seen my movie?!?!"
The audience cheers loudly.
"You bastards! There is no way for you to watch it legally here!"
Puddles was a trip! The fan cam was such a good bit
Fucking Walmart AMP and their shitty technology! The fan cam barely fucking worked so most of that bit was just plain black screens
A few years ago he had a toned down show. Didnt sing any of his bigger hits. No costumes. Just him and the band.
I honestly think i liked it a bit better than his normal shows. I was lucky he sang albuqueque at the show I went to.
the clown will make himself understood (he's really good at that)..........but how the fuck will you explain kevin costner to your son? is he old enough to grapple with existential horror, or is this some kind of punishment?
Look when I was his age I was asking for a copy of Waterworld on VHS. He will be 9 by time the concert rolls around, that's old enough to start seeing the world for what it truly is. Even the Kevin Costner of it all
not sure if 9 is old enough to handle the horror of waterworld..... let alone the lovecraftian horror of asking for it on vhs.
but if he survives this cinematic assault, he will become strong. i wish you both good luck and godspeed
Agreed, Weird Al was one of the most fun shows I've ever been to.
The above was during The Unfortunate Return of the Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour.
I saw him on The Mandatory World Tour as well and man is it fun seeing him change into the relevant outfits for each single song he does.
I had tickets to see him a few months ago, but unfortunately I had to sell the tickets to attend a work event.
Good news is I have tickets for next year and I am really excited to see him.
I am sorry to hear you had to miss it, but glad you're having the chance to go again. I hope you'll enjoy the show! It'll probably be a while before he comes back to Europe again so have a good time on my behalf as well!
It’s such a great show, I was so lucky to see him play red rocks with the Colorado symphony orchestra, insane show
People think I’m crazy when I say that. I go see shows all the time but Weird Al was by far the best entertainer. He and his band are crazy talented.
Thanks Al
Saw him several years ago with family. It was awesome. I love his showmanship.
Also, I got to pick up an original print of the UHF movie posters from the merch booth. I fucking love that movie.
He is a fantastic show and he goes 100% the entire time.
How do you learn/practice?
There are so many traditions, schools, teachers, etc. out there. Even apps. Just open the first door that you find, practice it, learn from it and when you outgrow it, you'll have a much better idea what you're looking for and what you need to do next. It's like anything else, really. Say you're learning to play the guitar, you start with whatever you can get your hands on, as you progress you become more discerning and get a better one. So I really don't want to name any names at this point, but once you start and you feel you need something more, hit me up and I'll help hook you up with something better suited to you.
Hmm. I'm starting with mindfulness through some apps like Calm or Smiling Mind, I guess that's as good a place to start as any
Yes. Feel free to ama
Had tickets this summer, was super excited because I had been trying to see puddles also. then took a gig working for a large event that had me out of town on the date.
Get back home, start a new job at a place that builds and operates tour busses, see a few signed posters in offices. Everyone says he is awesome.
I'm definitely catching the next tour.
I saw him for the first time in a small venue like 10 years ago and he sat in my then girlfriends lap twice during the show, I finally got my now wife and son to their first one and they were blown away by how awesome he is in concert. A true legend and showman.

I saw it on a plane soooo ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Wait he was in the Netherlands and I missed it? Fuckkkkkkkkk
Some time ago already by now! I saw him in 2015 and 2023.
Damn sad I missed him in 2023, I hope he comes again but I don’t think so sadly
Then he started playing “Don’t Download This Song”?
the 1st time I saw it had an opening where he thanks you for watching the movie, and claims its completely true. this is great considering the ending
It was filmed prehumuously
Is that the movie with Danielle Radcliffe?
Yup
And Madonna
We are so lucky he attended an illegal underage polka party when he was young.
I thought they might embellish it. Nope. They stuck to the facts. Great documentary
My gf didn’t know much about Weird Al other than he had a biopic. I already had seen it, but as far as my gf knew it was just an everyday run of the mill biopic. Watching her watch this movie was my favourite part
Yeah this girl I was watching it with thought it was serious until that scene where his dad beats the shit out of the accordion salesman 🤣
RIP.
It's so great. Every time you expect one thing to happen, the story surprises you with something completely different.
Such a weird movie.
"Take the shot..."
More of a parody on biopics than a biopic, like fubar or spinal tap. But yeah it’s super good lol
But the movie says all the events are real
Notably Madonna hasn't denied any of it.
not true
Is it as good as his original biopic? The Compleat Al (a take on the Compleat Beatles) was hilarious. Especially if you had seen the Beatles documentary on which it is based.
I have no idea bro
I see you haven’t heard Don’t Download This Song
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGM8PT1eAvY
The ultimate irony.
I remember watching this video on the family computer when I was like 9 and the joke being completely lost on me. It actually made me terrified of downloading any music.
Just listened to it. It goes so much harder than it needs to lol.
When I was downloading music in middleschool I remember downloading songs and getting disappointed when it was actually this song with the file name changed lol. the first time it kinda worried me honestly.
The Rick Roll before there was a Rick Roll
Don’t download this song is one of the best satires of piracy ever and offered DRM free on his Facebook page
I just listened to it and you are so right. Go Weird Al!
Even Lars Ulrich knows it's wrong.
Just buy the CD like you know that you should
You can just ask him!...
Fire...bad!
Yeah I believe he made that song right after his record contract expired and he was able to go independent, and it was immediately made free on his MySpace, since MySpace had better support for media uploads at the time.
that song is genius and really kills the piracy vibe
It would be funnier if it had every DRM known to mankind applied and costs whatever the maximum cost for songs on platforms was.
Check out the song "Life and times of a bonus track" by Edguy. Its from the point of view of the bonus track, being ripped from the cd and spread on the internet.
New hair metal band unlocked
My favorite album by them is Rocket Ride. If you enjoy them, the singer has another band called Avantasia. Their first 3 albums are fantastic.
classic weird al just gets it, honestly so relatable
I got me 100 gigabytes of RAM
Back in the olden times, when the Internet was still relatively new, he had a website with one section called "Ask Al" where people could submit questions and he'd answer them. IIRC he did a ton of them.
Let me quote one from May 2000:
In the early days of Napster, every person who made a parody tagged it 'Wierd Al'
Al said his biggest issue was a lot of the songs were just outright racist, and he didnt like his name being tied to all that racist crap.
Man I love Yankovic.
Has this story been Viggo'd yet?
He thought he hadn't made it as a musician until he slinked into a party once and Paul McCartney pointed and said, "Hey! It's Weird Al!
I’ve read that quote before, but could never tell if McCartney was a fan or making fun of Al.
Paul's a pretty relaxed scouser who would support other musicians. Remember the Beatles used to be 'just' a cover band in Hamburg.
I though the title said Weird AI (Artificial intelligence).
I work with an older guy named Al who's our expert on a few things. Sentences like "We need to ask Al" have become very easy to misread over the past few years.
Hopefully this motivates the English speaking world to increase widespread use of fonts that clearly distinguish capital "i" and lowercase "L"! (It won't)
for ex in turkish they use İ
Ahhhhh! I don't like it. It's too tall. Do you got anything shorter, maybe with some fancy accents
there’s “ı”
For what?
The capitalized version of “i” isn’t “I”, it’s “İ”
Is it weird that I read them all differently?
All you need is a serif, baby. Unfortunately they're less popular on screens.
Return of the Serif
I Shot the Serif
Thanks for reminding me, I already changed fonts for my e-ink reader for better readability. But it makes sense to do it for my phone too. l and I suck otherwise.
Al hasn't done anything to hurt anyone!
I'm downloading the new Yankovic_4B_Quant_Uncensored LLM
Me too, when I read the twit I thought, that's pretty clever for a chat bot
He was my first live concert as a kid. I still remember the 20-30m break they had on stage as it got dark..wondering what the hell was going on. Then the music started as the lights came on, and Weird Al busting out with his fat suit on lmao.
The first tape I ever bought was Bad by Michael Jackson.
The second tape I ever bought was Even Worse by Weird Al which had “I’m Fat” on it.
I think my first two were Thriller and In 3-D, so I can relate.
I've been a fan of Al’s for years, and I finally got to see him live when he came to the UK in 2023. It was one of the best shows I’ve been to. I also can’t quite believe he’s in his 60s, he still looks and sounds incredible.

I mean my mom thinks he's a gay (her highest insult) hippie on drugs, who makes fun of serious issues, like the fact that Black people are degenerates and that the world should have keeled over in 1959.
But that just makes it better imo.
Well to he bonest, gay hippies on drugs are some of the best people I have ever met.
That's funny because he's a actually a devout Christian. It's one of the reasons why he doesn't curse in any of his parodies. He's also a tee-totaler.
Weird Al is just a great person overall. In the 90s, he turned down a very lucrative beer endorsement deal, because he knew he was very popular with kids and it would be a bad influence on them.
Also one of his costars from UHF (great movie, do reccomend) died to a drunk driver mid filming.
Trinidad Silva
That's our Al ❤️ ⚓
Unconventional Albert
Unconventional Albert, son of New Englander.
Weird Al is actually, no joke, one of the coolest people alive.

Brilliant!
very subtle, i almost missed it

I love his song "Don't download this song."
The only AI I fuck with is Yankovic
I taught my 64 year old Dad how to torrent shit and like 4 years later in passing we had a letter from our internet providers it was a letter demanding he stop torrenting and he was just like toss it in the trash they always send those 😂😂😂
He is 66 but doesn't look like 66 at all
Thats weird
I’d absolutely recommend seeing him live, the man puts on a great show and, while I have seen a lot of performers, I haven’t seen many who make it look so natural as he does. A real pro.
He's the only celebrity I have ever met in person (at a TGI Friday's no less). Super chill and nice guy. I think if I ever meet another celebrity in my life I'll be disappointed.
And this is why Weird Al Yankovic is one of my favorite cool cats.
It is not his fault when there is no legal way to watch something. Surely when you finance a movie or something the first thing you think is distribution.
Weird Al has always been punk at heart.
Weird Al just made himself even more popular.
This is why Weird Al is my favorite artist in the world.
The man is a legend.
z0mg, torrent plz!!!
Wait.. why did you ever think Weird Al wasn't cooler than the limits of your imagination?
This was exactly the point of his track “Don’t Download this Song,” as well!
guy who made "don't download this song"
He always been cool because back in the day when I was about 9 and CBS use to send 6 cassettes for one penny Weird Al was a must.
Oh my god this man is JESUS
And one of the best things about him is that although he could technically do all of his songs without the original artists' permission, he always gets it anyway.
I wonder if this means a) no one will come after you for doing this, b) I have some pull and will try to convince them to not come after you, or c) fuck it, roll the dice and see
Weird Al is a national treasure. Weird Al in 3-D is the first album I ever bought on vinyl, way way back when. That guy has always known what's up.
which movie? UHF or weird?
Weird. That's the one where Roku has the streaming rights in North America.
For UHF, it's currently available as part of Prime Video until 12/31/25.
He's pretty cool for someone who has been named Wired Al for almost 45 years.

But mom it’s my turn to repost this picture
Funny that's basically what Chris Conrad told me on twitter when I asked him how I can legally watch Perpetual Grace in germany.
Hahaa what a fuckin boss
best kind of Al
One of my neighbours growing up looked a lot like Weird Al. We called him that. He committed suicide after a Lou Gerigs diagnosis.
I hate that I read the title as "Weird A.I" 😑
"Move along" 💿
"When Al your hope is gone"
Al knows what he's doing. He's stuck around so long because he's a fan favorite.
Always been.
this makes me think he might have used a p2p tool at some point.
Propable candidate for the next coming of Jesus, if you believe in such things. All I hear of him is that he's very wholesome guy.
Weird Al is the best. The money's nice, sure, but he just wants to make people happy with music. Same with my other fave insane musician Louis Cole. "Just wanna make enough money to keep doing thiiiiiiiis" Money - Louis Cole
Weird Al always finds a funny way to say things.
Based Al

Madonna Louise Ciccone is still at large.
RIP Al.
based
He has awesome curly hair, too.
Haha what a fucking legend!
who is Al Yankovic
Smfh. Kids, these days. 🫠🙂↔️🙄 He does (or did) parodies of hit songs. Here’s an example: Word Crimes by Weird Al
oh fuck yea. steamin him all day just for being awesome.
Okay... I feel totally no longer bad that (before an extremely lucky $1 thrift store find) I had downloaded Peter and the Wolf...
Now if only there was a way to buy Medium Rarities on its own... No comment on if I have the content through other means...
Just make sure you Don’t Download This Song or he’ll send you to the chair
Weird Al is the best.
https://kottke.org/25/12/weird-al-yankovic-covers-killing-in-the-name-by-rage-against-the-machine
“Portugal The Man, Weird Al, and (one third of) The Lonely Island covering Rage Against the Machine” sounds like the result of me doing Mad Libs alone
Convince me otherwise
Weird Al’s the man.

Same here.
Yeah, my favorite author is a Mormon but I try not to hold it against him. As you say, we all have our faults 😂
Sanderson the GOAT
Bullshit.
He’s obviously Amish.
Is this a reference to a bit I don’t remember? I know Amish paradise but that’s about it
Please help me find PDF version of a book ( without conscience by Robert d hare )
You can find a lot of things here
I couldn't find it there 😭
Zlib could have it.
The download option is not working 😞
Check the zlub sub wiki for verified sites. Mine (zlibrary.sk) works fine.
