This, to me, looks like an AI generated image. I think your kid hit something and used AI to create a fake image of a car knowing you couldn't track down a nonexistent car.
This doesn’t look like AI in the slightest, it looks like iPhones auto enhancing feature that usually applies to photos taken with zoom and seems to make small details look bizarre
Have you got the original photo to check? The AI zoom enhancement and the compression make it unlikely to decipher without a second less compressed copy to compare against (ran a dozen combinations so far, mostly Toyota's coming up)
I put both of those combos in a Free Plate check online and the 1st combo comes back to a 2022 WRX Subaru and the 2nd combo comes back to a 2001 Ford Mustang.
The way my son’s car was hit they absolutely have damage to the passenger side. The driver thought they could take a left while my son was actively turning right.
I’m not trying to burst your bubble but don’t listen to this OP. There’s not nearly enough digital information in the photo for us to be able to tell what the license plate says. AI can’t “see” better than humans can, and will often fill in information that’s not there.
Oh i was raised terribly without manners but im old now and did learn them over the years ☠️ im asking people to try to do something for me, someone they don’t know. I feel like showing appreciation for all effort is important!
Your son got hit? Or your son’s car got hit? Bit of a difference.
Edit - it does make a difference, if her son got hit and is dead then I would put more effort into. On the other hand if his car got a tiny little scrape….cba.
Well one is a lot more serious, and I will make more effort!! If her son is in intensive care and about to die of course I will help out. But if his car got slightly scrapped…
I don’t like Facebook either but just make one quick and throw it on there, it will have more reach and be a much better local resource than a Reddit sub.
You managed to delete Facebook? I haven’t used it for years but when I tried last year it wouldn’t let me because it was a different device…. It’s shut down as much as it can be and empty of any content
This photo can't give much to the people here, they risk making something out of what is essentially nothing and that wouldn't be any help. I'd follow the advice of the other comment to reach out to authorities who can try and look up the car by its description and maybe if it was in the local area
Op contact your local law enforcement. Depending where you live and if the agency has them or access to them, they can run that vehicle description through Flock cameras if there are any in that area which would provide a license plate along with register owners.
Provide law enforcement with possible damage location on suspect vehicle with your sons vehicle color for possible paint transfer which will help them. I see the suspect vehicle's passenger mirror is folded in. That would help on flock cameras as an identifying feature of it stayed like that for an extended time after the incident.
Or.... because the teenager hit something and instead of telling mommy they screwed up they spent 5 minutes having AI create an image of a mysterious car that no one will ever be able to track down...
Also, that isn’t upscaling artifacts. That is data fill by an AI, imo.
Dude my sons 09 Camry that he worked for got hit and the lady took off. He’s upset it’s his baby. I for sure want to offer to pay someone for no reason.
Nope... your son is lying to you. They hit something while driving like a moron and they spent 5 minutes using AI to create a fake image of car that can't be traced.
Only the number because you have to go get the physical copy after the fact. however, my husband was present by the time the cops arrived because he called us first. I had to tell him he needed to call the police. Which is when the witnesses spoke to the police.
Not only that, but this occurred at an intersection and if it wasn’t a hit and run he’d have had to have hit another car for his car to have the damage it does and for his car to have ended up where it did.
I wouldn’t be all over the internet without a confirmed story because kids can and do lie. My kid does have a record of honesty with the big issues, so my instinct is to trust him. We also happened to luck out and it happened down the block from the school, and one of us was near the school and could come deal with the cops with him. He spent the day today knocking on doors asking for any footage of the surrounding streets at the time of the accident.
It’s not like on TV where they seem to always miraculously take a shitty photo and manage to extract a plate number. It doesn’t work that way in the real world. There isn’t enough pixel data for that kind of resolution.
Someone in my local sub mentioned posting here and i figured it was worth a shot. Fwiw some people made some suggestions that i didn’t think of, so the post wasn’t a waste of time for me either way lol.
Obviously i know way less about technology than i should at my age haha. But i do appreciate everyone who commented with useful info and fun Super Troopers jokes
Don't pay anyone who asks for money!
You pay someone later in case they really helped finding that car or driver ⚠️
Looks like a mitsubishi outlander from around 2010, I owned one
Police and Insurance company should be able to help/figure it out.

Probably just Ai enhanced zoom
Probably AI generated as a whole

Mt6253 ?
You and my son are similar on the reading numbers.
It’s a new PA tag, guy on Nextdoor says he’s fairly certain the first 3 are MZS because we’ve been MYS until recently. We’re 3 letters 4 numbers.
I’m honestly thinking you’re close-a lot of people here have been so helpful.

Thank you so so much
Post ur sons original pic and put it at top please or update if you found the plate
It’s 8:45am, he’s out cold. If he sends it to me does that mess it up?
Did the driver damage their passenger side mirror?
It's pressed against the window.
The way my son’s car was hit they absolutely have damage to the passenger side. The driver thought they could take a left while my son was actively turning right.
Is this the original photo from his phone? Because messengers sometimes compress sent photos
It’s not! It’s saved from a text he sent me.
that downgrades images too. The most sure way to obtain the original image is to use bluetooth / wifi or cable connection.
Get the original, from his phone itself. Every step you take is most likely blurring the image (text, post to reddit,,,etc)
I’m going to do that, i appreciate it.
Alternatively you can use WhatsApp. It will text from phone to phone with lossless compression.
Omg really! Thanks!
No, Whatsapp compresses, that's why I mentioned Messengers compressing in the first place.
Is this from James Bond? I think I remember seeing this as a kid and thinking "that's not how mirrors work"
Blade Runner https://youtu.be/qHepKd38pr0?si=GEhFqK2OjrT2FJM9
Ah yes. Appreciate it much more as an adult.

Completely unreliable
Thank you for this

My state doesn’t have numbers first so i know it’s not correct, but i thank people for any effort.
Holy shit, someone who was raised right, with manners? On reddit? This is a new one for me.
Oh i was raised terribly without manners but im old now and did learn them over the years ☠️ im asking people to try to do something for me, someone they don’t know. I feel like showing appreciation for all effort is important!
Figured it was better than ENHANCE
Nope, equally useless in this case.
This mother fucker is toast when they find them ! lmao 🤣 suckers Reddit got your ass!
Enhance! ENHANCE!
Why is it still blurry?!
That's all the resolution we have. Making it bigger doesn't make it clearer.
It does on CSI: Miami!
Outstanding futurama reference

Questioning the obvious only makes your appear ignorant.
Yes I’m completely ignorant, that’s why I’m asking!
What difference does it make to decipher the plate lol
Well one is a lot more serious, and I will make more effort!! If her son is in intensive care and about to die of course I will help out. But if his car got slightly scrapped…
OP says son's car got stuck, so let's assume car
She also says her son was victim of hit and run, so both could have been hit
Still would need the same info? We’re not judges anyway 😭
I thought social media gave everybody the judge license?
Very true, but it’s still not valid in court 🤪
Virginia plate? Would be easier to nail down if you knew the state
it’s a newly issued PA license plate
Is this taken from a video?
No, a photo from a teenagers shaky hands
Blursed captcha

They will sort this out.

This is the way
It really is, that sub is sweet
ZOOM IN
ENHANCE
ZOOM IN
FURTHER
This is a 3rd gen Mitsubishi Outlander, no luck on getting the plate, report to insurance and police for hit and run.
Are there any local facebook groups that you perhaps could place your appeal on? Maybe someone local could recognise the car?
I put it in the local sub, but unfortunately i don’t have Facebook
You might also want to try your local Nextdoor app.
Just posted. Thanks so much for the suggestion!
I don’t like Facebook either but just make one quick and throw it on there, it will have more reach and be a much better local resource than a Reddit sub.
Funny story, i deleted my Facebook profile 2 years ago. I just tried to create one and I’m somehow banned from doing so.
You managed to delete Facebook? I haven’t used it for years but when I tried last year it wouldn’t let me because it was a different device…. It’s shut down as much as it can be and empty of any content
×ENHANCE×**
I’m dying. I’m trying whatever the hell i can lol.

Oh it worked. I heard it in his voice and everything

Thanks so much for responding! No flock on that intersection.
We do have the cops involved but you know how that goes
A camera doesn't have to be at that particular intersection, just fyi. But good luck finding that lady!
So evidently my township doesn’t have flock, i called my PD. Some areas around here do use them, but i guess we don’t. I appreciate the suggestion!
What the flock?
Was it taken with an iPhone, and if so, was it a “live photo”?
If so, you can press and hold to see a little gif of the image. Perhaps a different still frame from that gif would have a clearer image. Good luck.
I asked him and was immediately told he doesn’t use Live Photo “because I’m not some weirdo mom” 🤣
Classic when the cam opens it’s on live. lol

the plate looks ai cause the phone automatically upscaled it.
Or.... because the teenager hit something and instead of telling mommy they screwed up they spent 5 minutes having AI create an image of a mysterious car that no one will ever be able to track down...

Then what about the witnesses at the scene who talked to the cops? Did he AI generate that also?
Do you have a copy of the police report?
Only the number because you have to go get the physical copy after the fact. however, my husband was present by the time the cops arrived because he called us first. I had to tell him he needed to call the police. Which is when the witnesses spoke to the police.

Yeah he was shaking and the pic sucks. I’m hoping for miracle
BS.

Iphones are VERY good at handling a shaky hand. Are you a bot or stupid?
😂
So, I don’t know if I’m correct or even a little correct at this BUT is that a dealer sticker on the left from the actual tag?
https://preview.redd.it/qajmyaa2i37g1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=69b96ef362738c55b54866b03b68a34e90b73bcd
Maybe someone could sharpen that part of the image and see if it shows a place of purchase for the vehicle and maybe go from there?
I was in a hit and run accident, and insurance did a very good job at handling everything and etc.
Wishing you guys the best of luck in handling this!!
