i dont think this deals more damage than just using the mace

    parent
    117 points Willing_Soft_5944

It probably does more damage than using the mace via wind burst, but not as much as drop-ambushing someone.

    parent root
    89 points Khai_1705

you can see that the mace hit when the warden is still red which mean only the damage from the mace is dealt

    parent root
    35 points Willing_Soft_5944

So its really about which scales to a higher damage when falling from that height.

    parent root
    19 points Khai_1705

If that how you see it then yes. Still, having a totem on your off hand is better

    parent root
    7 points Willing_Soft_5944

Yes using a totem is probably better but if we are going full damage numbers this seems interesting even if just using a spear with an elytra is probably better.

Aaaaand this is why spear is not a healthy addition for the combat meta.

    parent
    41 points Scorching_Buns

Nor were totems and crystal pvp

It will just have a separate category.

    parent root
    -1 points end3rj0hn

    You're right. Nor was mace.

I'm not saying spear shouldn't have been added. It's a cool idea. But it's yet another item that's going to be its own category because it's too overpowered to be included in normal fights.

    parent root
    3 points Conscious_Series166

Make rules that prohibit spears and/or limit them with datapacks/plugins then

Devs do in fact give you tools to do your own balancing, it's up to you and you only

    parent root
    4 points Fa1nted_for_real

Its so odd when people say the spear is broken, because compared to the mace, end crystals, totems, sheilds, hell even axes at times, they really, seriously arent.

    parent root
    -1 points end3rj0hn

Maces, crystals, totems, and shields are all broken as well, yes. Just because the spear is broken doesn't mean nothing else is.

Edit why am I being downvoted? I'm agreeing with the guy above me lol

    parent root
    3 points Fa1nted_for_real

The spear is far less <un>balanced than any of these though, and while its capable of high damage, its still not insane without weird setups.

Also, full prot armor battles have king been a slog, and needed solutions. The mace and spear offer solutions to that.

    You just contradicted yourself?

And yes, mace and spear offer terrible solutions to a terrible problem. Combat in general has just been unbalanced since 1.9.

    parent root
    3 points theMegaTech

Combat was unbalanced since multiplayer was added. The imbalance just comes in different forms.

(Usually the winner is the one who didn't pvp at all and just killed you with some contraption remotely)
