    Ang problema kasi, walang nuance ang mga tao. Kahit nga sa Venezuela, kulang sa nuance, masyadong black-and-white. You can be happy Maduro is gone, you can support Maduro going away, but you can also be angry at how it happened, and also have concerns about the country's future. Tapos may point rin ang mga analyst na kahit wala na si Maduro, yung mga tauhan pa rin niya ang nandoon, so in the short-to-medium term, wala rin.

    Pareho rin sa WPS issue. You can agree that the US is imperialist, you can agree that they caused trouble for us in the past, you can agree that they downplayed, and still downplay, their atrocities during the colonial period, while still agreeing that China is still our immediate threat in the near future and the US is our best option in helping defend ourselves.

    Yung nabasa ko kasi, sabi kasi nung mga analysts, may risk din kasi kung opposition ang umupo sa Venezuela. Kahit maraming galit kay Maduro, the majority even, marami pa rin ang may gusto sa kanya, lalo na yung mga loyalista ni Chavez. Alienating them would only cause further division and could do more harm than good. So parang kaya si Rodriguez nalang muna ang uupo kasi, ang tingin ng US, siya ang least-bad option. I'm not saying I agree or disagree with them, I am not too familiar with Venezuelan geopolitics (other than people love Chavez but not Maduro) to know if it's accurate or not. I'm just reporting what I've read.

    I think thats the sales target, not how many planes the PH will buy. I dont think the country has the money and space to maintain that many aircraft yet

    A better deal for us because with such volume and the first export country of this model, we can request our own amendments. Hindi tayo priority gawan ng variant for Gripen and F-16.

    Makes sense, the only downside is that it's a very new airframe so there will be lots of troubleshooting and fixes to be done compared to the proven airframes like F-16, but that's really more of a "Newly designed aircraft" problem,

    On the other hand it's nice to see our airforce (or military in general) finally getting something new and "cutting edge" for once, ngl when I heard of the military procurement at first I personally hoped for the KF-21, but accepted that the Gripen or F-16 are more realistic, didn't expect for it to end up like this.

    That was the case for the FA-50 but it turned out pretty well and more countries like poland bought the FA-50.

    So KAI at least has some actual experience

    I believe the KF-21 was an unlikely candidate coz of Indonesia stalling the project coz they tend to be late on delivering things (In our case, PT PAL). Thankfully the aircraft took off the ground (literally too).

    Also, us getting the KF-21 does not necessarily mean we won't get Gripens or F-16s in the future. We still could through other means, ang tanong lang kung ano ang mauuna.

    Getting the KF-21 now might give us opportunity to upgrade to its Block 3 variant in the future.

    Said Block 3 will basically turn it into a 5th gen fighter by adding internal weapons bay and other upgrades.

  • This is good either way. This and F16s/Gripens should form a backbone to our Air Force. Super Tucanos already fill the COIN role (and mostly internal security oriented).
