Also concelebrating in the same mass was Bishop Antonio Tobias, who went viral for a time for saying the same remarks in a homily (and, of all places, inside the House of Representatives). In fact, before sinabi ni Bishop Jun yung "mahiya naman kayo", in-acknowledge niya si Bishop Tony at nagpaalam na irereiterate nya yung message ng nakatatandang bishop noon.
srsly nakakaloka lang how this prelate just called out all the corrupt sa homily niya for Nazareno 2026, like, the gag is he’s totally right?? He was all "learn from Jesus to step down voluntarily for love" and then went straight for the jugular, saying may mga ayaw bumaba kahit mali na at bistado na, kahit pahirap na sa bayan, as in kahit naghihirap na mga mahirap and bumabaha na?? The sheer audacity and kapal ng mukha of those in power to cling on talaga, parang, hello, mahiya naman kayo! The theme was "He must increase, I must decrease," which is such a serve for humility, pero seems like some people missed the memo or just chose to ignore it and it’s honestly so frustrating to see.
By the way yan kasi ang napapala sa ginawang IDOLO ang mga politiko... Tuloy ang naging mentality nila sila sila ang nasa Itaas at tayo ay nasa baba (as said by Vilma Santos)...
Nawala ang humility sa kanila at napalitan ng greediness for money and power...
^ well, to be fair (I watched the entire mass kagabi), wala naman syang pinangalanan. His homily could apply to any politician naman din, so quits lang
Lol, religion especially christian/catholic is corrupt as well. Jesus, Santa Buddha. Hypocrisy at its finest. Oh, and jokes on you, sexual abuse is also rampant for priests :)
There is no clear statement in the book about hiding and worst protecting corrupt politicians. If you can quote or cite the page number pls do so.
I prompt the word the politician and politics in my pdf copy and read the pages. No clear statement about corrupt politicians hidden and protected by the church.
Yea, this country when it comes to religion is just pure hypocrisy, kita naman followers palang :) Even when religion joined against Marcos, they just tilted their political views again, and again, and now it's working again lol.
Little did Filipinos know that Religion in this country plays a huge role in politics. :)
Sure, manahimik nalang tayo lahat. Everyone has skeletons in their closet. If not them who?
are you referring to instances wherein some priests were involved in child abuse or molestation but they were not removed from their respective parishes?
Agree with you there. Hypocrisy does not invalidate what is being pointed out.
When Jesus said in Matthew 7 that "judge not, lest you be judged" ...
He described a scenario where someone was pointing out dust in his brother's eye when he had a plank in front of his own eye. Just because he had a plank in front of his own eye doesn't nullify the fact that his brother had dust in his eye. But Jesus pointed out the absurdity of calling someone out when you yourself are not acting on something wrong with yourself.
In short, Jesus did not tell people not to exercise their judgment. Jesus told us that we should judge ourselves first. He was not espousing unconditional approval, anything-goes kind of lifestyle.
The Catholic priest has all the right to call out what he sees as wrong. Hopefully the Catholic church is also acting on things that are wrong in their own backyard.
Go Father, I mean all the priests, thank you for being always vocal every sunday, pati yung Oratio Imperata against Graft and corruption.
This is one thing the Church is consistent at - every single homily meron
maybe because they endorsed the ones who are now being exposed for corruption?
Joel sums it up

Sadly most in his diocese are DDS, in Balanga City, even Bam didn't make it in Top 12
Father Huwag muna bumaba yung presidente kasi ipapalit ang isang taong mas ayaw bumaba sa kapangyarihan
^ well, to be fair (I watched the entire mass kagabi), wala naman syang pinangalanan. His homily could apply to any politician naman din, so quits lang
Remember, he's not suicidal.
Fr Jun being on point once more. Miss the days when he was the chaplain of Greenbelt Chapel (Fr Dave also rocks, to be clear).
INC Ministers can never!!

Separation of Church and State /sarcasm
This is ad hominem (tu quoque or poisoning the well).
The issue is not about the church. Why brought it up?
The issue is that the church has coddled these politicians for the longest time. It’s calling a spade , a spade.
That is a big accusation. You have to provide evidence for that otherwise its malicious and unfounded accusations.

Remind me what this fallacy is: red herring or strawman?
hypocrisy doesn't invalidate the argument.

Irrelevant is irrelevant.
