I believe it's going on the track of neurodivergent people having higher rates compared to their population of transitioning. The creator of Celeste and several of the people who worked on it are trans individuals. So the joke would be the fact that the person went from manly murder game Fallout and is now debating between a different manly murder game and the LGBTQ+ simulator and by even having the interest in Celeste the are now assumed to be interested in transitioning. A gateway drug if you will.

There is a joke that the game makes you transition, because the game has made a decent amount of people realize they were trans, but I personally haven't seen anyone in the community treat this as anything other than a joke.

Celeste specifally has a lot of character moments and tools in game to remove a lot of that frustration but much like the interest in transitioning everyone's got their own path to take. Nothing wrong with not going along with the group when you're always gonna have to wake up as yourself.
