He previously served as the interim United States attorney for the Central District of California from April – July of 2025. A federal judge ruled that he had illegally served as the acting US Attorney. Essayli was disqualified from holding the position because he stayed on beyond the initial interim period without having received official congressional approval, and was immediately reassigned to the First Assistant United States Attorney role.
That's depressing and it's sad that it's effective. They just keep committing crimes because there's no repercussion. With no electoral punishment there is only legal, and the centuries of the judicial branch only reigning in the executive when they wanted to politically has come to its worst conclusion.
It's just like having a child that is constantly making messes, hitting kids and breaking rules, to the point that they revel in being rude or bad, and the parent is hesitant to do anything more than a slap on the wrist. Someone criticizes the parent and the parent gets really defensive and angry at them, instead of being stronger on their child. They practice appeasement, but in the end they have only emboldened the child.
The Trump admin and all of his followers are the epitome of this child taken to its most dangerous conclusion.
