Same here. Been on the fence about buying this game for a while, but these new vivarium critters might just be enough of an incentive for me to go for it
Is it a complete, playable game? I'm burned from crowdfunding Saurian. Also I had a bery early access beta demo version of PK many years ago. It was fine but extremely barebones.
Its still early access, but it is playable. Some things may be buggy or a bit messy (fence/path placing mainly, things like "slope too high" etc), but in general it is good. I would say at its current state its more for modular building freaks (I) and such. Devs dont try to hide or go silent for weeks, game-dev-standard-wise common dev diaries (3 months between them max, most often 1 or 2)
Id say that the buidling potential and the animal models (not being based on an old franchise) make it worth it, if thats what you are into
The designs are old; they were pretty science-accurate for their time, but right now people just reheat an old burger by doing the same thing again and again and aga-
Are the non-film dinos outdated too? I don't really mind movie-style raptors and rexes, since if you're buying that game you know what you're going in for. I wish the movies themselves would update their designs, at least take them out of that stupid bunny rabbit hand posture.
To be fair, even as an accuracy enthusiast, the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park aren't actually "real" dinosaurs. They very much are genetic chimeras from a horror franchise, at their heart, even if there were technological advancements since the first movie in-universe, so I don't really mind them being inaccurate.
Yea... But the franchise goes more for "scary dinosaurs!!! eviltheropod bigger than TRex!!!" rather than the horrors of meddling with genetics and the concept of life itself
Also I love that this thread has been going on all day and not once has anyone said the name of the films until now. We just all know.
The Frontier Utah does look much better than the Pyro, but I like that both have at least better wrist posture than the 93 JP. It's hard to put feathery wings on a bunny.
Hell I dont mind outdated dino visuals as much as I mind.. completely made up dinos that have replaced actual dinos in the newest roster... as for prehistoric kingdom - its great, game should be done next year once fighting, hunting and breakouts are implemented
It’s still in early access, but it only has 2 more major updates before it’s fully completed. The schedule is to be fully complete by late 2026 or early 2027. Post launch content will be added depending on if the game does well financially.
It's a completely playable game IME with some SMALL bugs (path placement on slopes) but that's it! I have... too many hours in sandbox building really detailed enclosures to take close up "photos" of my dinos in their habitats LOL. The amount of love that's gone into this game is palpable, even the plants are prehistoric species!!
It means on the 23rd update 16 will be released and these gorgeous animals will be in the game for us to use with vivariums, along with implementing vets, death, disease and two flat rides (ferris wheel and a sky towers ride thing).
I just checked them out on the PTB and it's all glorious.
Dinoguy and Best in Slot have also put out videos on the upcoming update.
All good! It's a very fun game if you have a laptop or PC that can run it. I really enjoy making really detailed enriching enclosures for my critters :)

Probably the most diverse roster to come to the game in a single update.
3 paleozoic animals, the first pseudosuchian, 3 little dinos, the first snake, turtle and armadillo
The devs lied about what was coming on discord but this roster is peak so I'll forgive that
What did they say on discord?
One of them said that the unrevealed creatures were a "fuzzy Triassic critter", a "semiaquatic mammal", an "arboreal lizard" and "2 funky dinos"
Prehistoric Kingdom has been reaching for my wallet for years now and by god I think it’s about to pickpocket me
Same here. Been on the fence about buying this game for a while, but these new vivarium critters might just be enough of an incentive for me to go for it
I highly recommend it! I bought the game earlier this month and it's easily one of the coolest games I've ever played.

Yea, thats what I mean by being tied to a franchise, ya gotta use archaic designs in the game; non-film dinos are either beautiful, or just are...
Some might like it, but it is what it is

Generally I'd say that Frontier's designs look a lot better than the film creatures
Compare, say, film Pyroraptor with Frontier's Utahraptor. Note that both are nominally "1993 Jurassic Park raptor wearing feathers"
Although I say "generally" because, well, we also got some weird designs like Liopleurodon
Is Frontier the company making JP Evolution?

Totally unplayable game without the mechanics for a dino rampage

It's still early access, but I believe the 1.0 release is scheduled for late 2026.
I bought it and the only reason I don't play it is the fact that it don't run well on steam deck
They really had all this stuff hidden from us this whole time just to surprise us today
Peltephilus.
It's been 1 minute since I saw your face, and I would already die for you.
Insert image of a dude reading a Golden page happily
oh my god theyre beautiful
Ever time there’s an update in this game, I want it more and more. I might just have to get over my “Early access” fears.

So what does this mean?

Can't wait to make a swamp enclosure for the boa
Can this game just come to consoles already. PLEASE I BEG YOU ITS JUST SO PEAK
As a console player I agree, but it's certainly not happening soon
the earliest I think it could come is late 2026, and that is a stretch
but I REALLY want this game, the amount of effort is phenomenal
Man I coulda sworn Diictodon was spelled with one I. Nice lineup though.
The mononykus looks so cute!! 💚
New critters
I am furious. Netflix doesn't allow it in Europe.
PK is a paleozoo-building video game :)
Oops, I thought prehistoric planet. That's a red button for me.

It's on Steam, not Netflix.
