They were buggy. I think it was something about imanis dragon sometimes crashing the game if it got killcam. After that EM assumed that every new champ could be the reason for New killcam bugs so they removed it.
There was also something about the killcam camera being off and that combined with the giant hit boxes lead to many "that didnt hit me" Moments.
What's wild is it seems like the team held out hope it would be fixed for a while because a number of new skins and even some characters still had unused Top Play lines recorded.
It was too complicated to keep coding it for all new characters. On top of struggling to keep it working with current champs. (Looking at you Imani.) so they scrapped it to save time and money.
Paladins reddit is healing. I was expecting whining about how all that dev time was better spent fixing bugs in minor features instead of creating content and balance changes.
