Hello, I am a 20 year old looking to start my own painting business. I have been in the painting industry for around 2-3 years now and I want to start getting my own work. The only problem is I keep seeing that you are required a minimum of 4 years of painting experience and that I would need to be prepared to show proof in order to get my own license. How true is this statement? And if I do NEED to show proof of me working in the painting industry for at least 4 years, are there any loopholes to work around this? Thanks for any information or any help/tips.

  • You need more than 4 years of painting experience to run your own business!!!!!!! Are you joking right now? You’re a rookie still. This blows my mind how you kids think.

  • From personal experience my man , No . The state recognizes “ work experience” only after you turn 18 so you’d have to be 22 . The application goes through various stages and multiple reviews so I don’t think you’d be lucky enough to get around that . I tried aswell and got rejected and ultimately lost $450 for the application fee
