I remember Lego doing a thing where you can request certain themes and one of the themes that they didn't automatically shut down was Overwatch (for context, the site where it auto shut down a theme if it was violent or there's rights issue, I remember Diablo/WC/SC being on the no list because of their content but Overwatch was fine)
Just like any company, LEGO is willing to work on something if they think they can make a healthy profit off it. Overwatch was the most popular game in the world 10 years ago, they don't want to just cut themselves off from any potential revenue that could come from a revival or nostalgia boom.
The issue is that Overwatch still has a massive negative public reception. I think the series would have to get an Arcane level save to get back to the point where LEGO would actually repartner with Blizzard/ActivisionBlizzardKing/Microsoft.

Then blizzard decided to just say “fuck it” and kept putting off OW2 after saying it was just around the corner. And Lego was waiting for that to happen to put out new sets. And they didn’t want to keep doing Overwatch sets if OW2 was coming out soon. Well let’s just say it took like 2 years for OW2 to release maybe longer.
