To anyone reading who disagrees with OP, try to avoid Ad Hominem attacks. Criticise the idea, not the person.
I almost wonder if some of these headlines are subtly trying to show how dreadful the situation is. Seems like a lot of media outlets are scared to call it out bluntly, but going the opposite way and showing a “ wholesome” side of it still sort of emphasizes how bad it is. Idk maybe I’m too optimistic about the intention.
ETA: also looks like this is an update to a story they published earlier where they outright showed how horrible it is
Obligatory reminder that Trump's quota is still 3,000 arrests kidnappings per day, and even with all the wrongfully detained citizens and green card holders they can only hit about 1,100/day.
Would be well worth it to find a way to penalize rags that print shit like this. For that matter, the press need to have their feet held in the fire until they start acting like the bastions of free speech they are supposed to be.
Ask the hard questions. Deny press coverage of whatever any talking head says who thinks they are above everyone else. Trump should be enduring a barrage of uncomfortable questions 24/7. His henchmen and minions likewise should be constantly humiliated in the press and cut off if all they do is talk down to them like a schoolyard bully does.
One day there will be trials or more likely we keep slipping into an authoritarian nightmare, either way. There's no middle ground here, we failed during Reconstruction, we can't afford to do that again.
