TL; DR CDS delivered these orange kitties and we decided to rescue and keep them. When they were small I’d do kitten earmuffs. Purring kittens in each ear is ASMR and it was magnificent.
These babies! My husband and I were walking while our son was in therapy. We went down a dog path where everyone was focused on themselves and their dogs. Good thing, because husband spotted a kitten in the grass and another one a couple feet back in the woods.
We gained their trust fairly quickly. My husband left to get a box and over the course of that 10 min run to our car, both kittens had crawled into my lap. I called husband and told him to pick up a cat carrier and cans of food. They immediately recognized the sound of the can opening, so they were familiar with humans. They also were litter trained.
Both kittens were missing part of one of their legs (caused by a disgusting and horrible person). Pínto may need a full amputation someday if she develops arthritis, which is $4k. Fortunately that day is not today. Skimo and Pínto get around quite fine with 3 legs. They were determined to be between 10-12 weeks according to the vet.
We brought them in, bathed them, brought them to the vet, found no microchips or info on missing cats. We kept these sweet babies.
They’re orange ladies, tripods, and have polydactyl paws. They’re special and rare. We love them so much. They’ll stay very small because of malnourishment earlier in life. Poor babies. They’re so loved now.

Seven cats That’s not a household anymore, that’s a full time feline committee running the place.
I mean, having a cat is nice.
And, you know, if you have one, it's really better to get a second, so the first one has a buddy.
And those two might not always get along, so it's good to have a third they can play with if they have issues with each other.
And if you have three cats, a fourth isn't that much more cat.
Or a fifth.
So anyway, this person now has seven.
You don't choose the cats, the cats choose you! It sounds like these little orange shadows were destined to join your crew. And who doesn't love a couple of furry, therapeutic ear-warmers? So precious!

Kitty commune
I put one of them in charge each time I leave the house. So far the committee is operating well.
Quite the kitty clowder.
Cat council meetings are mandatory and always end in purring
Family Home guarded by 7 dangerous vicious beasts.
Imagine the purr-power in that house. It must sound like a constant, low-grade tractor convention.
This made me audibly lol! 😂
Awww! Great human! I regularly record my kitties purring or sleeping so I can listen when I need it. And when they're gone 🌈
That’s such a good idea!! 💛💛 Sadly I lost my boy Pork Chop in March - he was a feral farm cat and didn’t come one night. 😭 but I am so blessed that the last night I had with him, he was purring and smooching my phone trying to bite it while I sent a voice message so I’ll always have that last little memory of him to cherish 🥺
Aww he left a little reminder. I'm not strong enough to have half/half cats. I've even fed outdoor cats, the same one for years, and when I had to move I cried and cried. It's hard enough losing our indoor babies. But to not have answers would kill me. You're one tough human.
Yes, he left me a little reminder of his loud lawn mower-esque purr 🥹 unfortunately I always knew that he would most likely just not return home one evening due to the nature of him being wild.
He spent his days roaming the farm and only returned home in the dark for dinner and cuddles. I managed to get him to the vets to be fixed and vaccinated etc but he never adapted to being seen in daylight/ being near other humans hence why he fled outside as soon as he could every morning. If he saw me on the farm during the day, he would run off like he didn’t know me but come night time, he would be in bed drooling on me 🤣 He would also go insane if the cat door wasn’t open at night as he always needed an escape route to his beloved farm lol.
I had seven glorious years with him and I feel so blessed for that. I’ll never forget the night I came home in 2018 and first found him as a tiny kitten perched on a deck chair with my cat Poet sitting on the seat 🤣 she said she found him hungry and alone on the farm and told him he could come over for dinner…for seven years! 🥹🩷

What a beautiful loyal kitty. And he wanted freedom, needed it, and you didn't deny him.
Thank you so much for your kind words 🩷 I truly believe Porky was a very magical creature sent to me for a reason and I’m just so lucky I had the joy of him in my life at all.
What a precious baby. I’m so sorry for your loss.
Can I ask what part of their leg(s) they're missing? Poor things.
The lower half of the rear limb. We took them to the vet and her assessment was that it was caused by abuse because they still didn’t fully understand how to walk without a leg, which is something they’d have learned earlier had they been born with it. Fortunately Skimo no longer does headstands when we put her down and she’s lost her balance.

This is Skimo. You can see her leg best in this photo.
Oh, wow. That is nauseatingly horrible to imagine happening to them. I'm glad they get to live out the rest of their lives safe and happy, now!
I try not to think about it. Pínto’s leg has a twisted joint from whatever happened and may need an amputation if it starts to bother her.
I hope the people that hurt these sweet babies suffer their pain 10x more.
Time to declaw those people 😔
Declaw… defenestrate… same thing. 😉
It’s a perfect homage to Hemingway with welcoming sweet polydactyl gingers into your home. He has been quoted as saying “One cat just leads to another.” The CDS knew these two girls needed a place with special TLC. ❤️
And now they’ve got all of it. They’re so adored. 🥹
TIL that Hemingway was a cat person – the shameful thing is that I didn't know this before! Bad English major! Shame! 😔
Man, that picture had me do a double take
Come on! No toebeanbean shots? Disappointed.
However, you are great people otherwise.
Okay. Do toe feathers work? Baxter offers up his feathers and toes for bean tax.

Omg. Too cute.
I have a cat with fucky back legs, so she doesn't walk on her feet. She's got floofy toes too, but nothing like this.
Just so it’s not confusing, that’s another one of our cats. I didn’t get the toe bean photo yet. Baxter hopes his peets will suffice.

This is my handicat. She essentially walks on her ankles, and not her peets. She has Swimmers Syndrome.
I’ve never heard of that! Does it cause her pain?

Not that we know of yet. This is her standing tall, lol (watching tv with me). She may have wear spots on her legs over time, from all the sliding on the floor around the house. It's caused by lack of leg ligament/tendon/muscle development in utero. She can hop but she can't jump. She throws herself down the stairs all the time.
I'd never heard of it until we found her at the shelter. They thought she had CH, but after some research, we discovered Swimmers Syndrome. As many cat subs as I'm in, I've only ever seen one other person with a cat with it (and they didn't know what it was until I posted that first sploot pic).
She’s a sweet baby. Please give her so many scritches from me!
My son has all the photos of their beans. I’ll have to get some, stat!!
I want to see their faces 😭 Thank u so much for rescuing them ❤️

Here’s a Skimo face. Isn’t she the cutest?! 🥹 I’ll add Pinto in another reply.

Here’s our little quirky Pínto 😁🥰
Don't give me ideas! I have 5 cats rn (the last one wasn't even planned, but I couldn't help it. She 'adopted' me when I was on a holiday in Egypt).
The 4th was planned, 5, 6, and 7 were not. 5 is Kahlo, and she was bonded to the 4th cat we adopted. We couldn’t leave her behind, even though he’s not bonded to her. She was considered unadoptable because she was feral when she was rescued. We adopted her nearly 3 years ago and she’s just now getting out of bed to go over to husband for pets. Our oldest son was able to kiss Kahlo on the head, even! She’s still skittish and runs and hides when we enter rooms. She’s been mostly impossible to pet for most of the time we’ve had her.
I didn’t choose the cat life (yes I did), the cat life chose me.
Aww that's lovely. Great that you gave her a chance.
Awww, looks like they smell good, too! 😹🥰
I never really understood how cats fur smells so good. They clean themselves with saliva and their breath smells like fish.
Right?! It’s bizarre.
Oh man. Huffing kittens is heavenly. 😂😂
aww 🤗
That is an awesome cat beard.
I want to do kitten earmuffs
Best calming thing in the world!!!
