Paleontology for sure. Was obsessed with dinosaurs, like a lot of kids, and have over the past few years gotten into fossil collecting. Saving up to go on a dig in South Dakota this year.
I actually cannot remember any of my childhood interests other than reading. I would however go through multiple random phases of being obsessed with something than getting bored of it like a week later 😂
Yes. Mainly the Sonic the Hedgehog series. Back when I was in middle school (early to mid 2010s), when the series was going through a rough patch, I got made fun of for my interest in the series. "Oh, you're into a game series about a running blue hedgehog? What a f****** weirdo!" I was already getting bullied for other things, so I felt like I had to abandon my love for the games to be more socially accepted.
It wasn't until the movies that the series started to become popular again. I'm in my mid-twenties, and I've never felt more comfortable calling myself a fan. I even started collecting Sonic plushies, which I've wanted to do since I was 9 years old.
As a fellow Sonic fan, I’ve always been a huge fan and never really left the fandom as I’ve always done something like playing a game or listening to the music but I relate in being made fun of when I was younger and am happy now that the franchise doing better it’s not considered “weird” anymore.
I’ve had more acceptance being an adult liking Sonic than I did as a kid which is ironic cuz one of the things ppl would say is that Sonic is “kiddy”
Right?! I was even told this in MIDDLE SCHOOL! As if we weren't still kids! But now, if anyone tries telling me it's a kids' franchise, I say "Sonic is Rated E for Everyone." Is it cheesy? Yeah, but it's both actually and figuratively true. Why should I stop loving something just because I'm not a kid anymore? Even big companies have picked up on the power of nostalgia, so why stop?
And Sonic is not even as kiddy as ppl think. There’s so much dark lore in the earlier games, the tv shows, and the comics. Sonic is also one of the most recognizable video game characters ever and has a lot of personality; it’s ironic too cuz I don’t here ppl say Mario is “kiddy” even tho technically he’s more so than Sonic
And yea Sonic is cheesy but it’s also part of the charm and I feel like ppl who don’t like that aren’t really fans cuz Sonic has always been kinda cheesy even in the 90s. Plus the blue hedgehog has gotten me through lots of hard times with the positive messaging in the games and music
Exactly! Those same people that were making fun of me were also playing Mario games, as if they weren't for kids. I don't dislike Mario games (in fact, Galaxy 2 is very near and dear to me), but their stories aren't that nuanced. Sonic games' stories, on the other hand, push boundaries with darker themes and aesthetics. The "Dark Age" everyone loved to complain about back in the day, that's now a lot of people's favorite era, including mine.
I completely relate to turning to the series for relief from real life. I entered a depressive episode during university, having to do with grades, expectations, life trajectory, family deaths, and the impending student debt. The only thing that kept me somewhat afloat and hopeful that everything would be okay was the Sonic series. Who knew a fictional blue hedgehog would be the thing to keep me grounded?
Right? Like I enjoy Mario games, but Sonic was always more fleshed out to me in terms of personality and stories. There’s so many different types of gameplay too like the storybook series, the adventure series, and other stuff; even if I didn’t beat an entire game, I watched the cutscenes on YouTube and still knew what it was about. With Mario the main goal is saving the princess which has somewhat changed only a little while ago. It’s kinda ironic that ppl like that timeframe now cuz being a part of it back then wasn’t cool; it’s weird too cuz it was only a few games that were actually not great but then every time another Sonic game came out ppl complained expecting the worst.
I also enjoyed fan creations like YouTube skits and animations relating to Sonic. I used to flex on ppl back then saying I’d rather like a fictional blue hedgehog than to look up to some problematic celebrity (seriously, at least he’s a positive figure that won’t be exposed for some bs), but it’s funny cuz now I’ve met more ppl that are also Sonic fans and it’s been nice to have genuine conversations about the fandom cuz I didn’t really have that back then lol.
I never really stopped watching cartoons personally, I stared collecting Monster high and bratz dolls in my 20s because I didn’t get them as a kid for many reasons but I always loved them and wanted them as a child, one day I found a g3 clawdeen in my Walmarts clearance section and fell in love. And now I collect all sorts of dolls. And I actually have an interest.(I also make custom dolls now) A lot of my life I felt like I didn’t have a “thing” and now I do. It’s really nice to find a “thing”, gaming and watching tv just don’t cut the mustard for me.
Earlier this year I revisited all my favourite childhood shows. Both versions of Suite Life, Austin and Ally and Wizards of Waverly Place. Still enjoyed them as an adult
I’ve always stayed doing those things. If I liked them as a kid I like them as an adult. Maybe not as much but sometimes more. I knew how to have fun and still do
Sorta? My absolute favorite game as a kid was Mech Assault and I’ve recently (within the last 2 years) been really getting back into the franchise and Mech Warrior 5 is easily one of my favorite games right now
Sort of? Some of my faves have been consistent But I've def tried out a lot of things I wasn't allowed to/didn't know were options as a kid, stuff like skateboarding, hiking, etc.
My biggest childhood interest was gaming, and I still keep up with it today. But I did get myself a PSP again after selling my old one I had as a kid, to use not only for games but also music and occasionally movies/shows. Been enjoying it a lot
I went back to a few, and I'd added more. But unfortunately theres some interests which i am kinda unable to follow up on due to geographical and monetary issues.
Skateboarding. Damn it feels awkward with this rigit and heavy body, especiallly stopping and how much faster it accelerates on downhill. Still trying to get comfortable with it.
I used to read obsessively as a kid. My punishment for misbehaving would literally be taking my book away.
I stopped reading for like 12 years. I would read fanfic and stuff, but not books like I used to. I recently picked it up again and I’ve finished 2 whole books! I’m so happy, it’s so fun, and I just love it. Buying a Kindle helped a lot.
Next is picking up painting again, after years of not doing it…
I really loved cutting peaces (photos and people) out the newspaper and taping them anywhere i could.
My mom told me once she came back from work and saw me taping black and white portraits of people to the walls of our home and they were all cut out from the death announcements page

Personally I’ve never stopped being interested in my childhood interests. I just spend my life cycling through the same few subjects
I also never stopped, save for a short bit in college. Now I'm back into collecting legos and binging wikipedia
Same
Same
real
Please don't tell me this, each childhood interest I rediscover means I have to rediscover my bank account balance.
Paleontology for sure. Was obsessed with dinosaurs, like a lot of kids, and have over the past few years gotten into fossil collecting. Saving up to go on a dig in South Dakota this year.
Ah shit. Dinosaurs are cool as fuck. I love learning about them all the time
I never even left mine. I still love drawing and watching cartoons.
Haha! You could be me!!
Never left video games lol
as a kid I always used to look under the doormat and play with the isopods, now I just built my first terrarium for them

Hot wheels
I wanna revisit the Pokémon seasons as an adult now in my late 20’s. 6 year old me would be proud
Oh man, get legends of Arceus it’s so worth it

I got a GameCube recently, pretty fucking cool
never left photography or video gaming
I was that one kid obsessed with sharks and recently have had an urge to go shark diving.
Sorta? My absolute favorite game as a kid was Mech Assault and I’ve recently (within the last 2 years) been really getting back into the franchise and Mech Warrior 5 is easily one of my favorite games right now

Out of everything, art and writing. That has never left me but everything else kind of did, besides video games I guess?
So you're telling me to buy a sword?
Cars and skateboarding 🙂 unfortunately being a car guy is way above my pay grade right now (and idk if that counts as niche anyway)
There was an island on pop tropica I was never able to beat, so I went back on as an adult and easily beat it. It healed something in me.
I then decided to do this with a few more games. Like the pizza party suite life of Zach and Cody game.
Im collecting monster high dolls again
Kamen rider
I bought a bunch of DS pokemon games and two nintendo 3ds so I can trade pokemon between games.
I think that’s what happening to me right now. I slowly regained the passion for drawing
Collecting thomas and friends
heavy breathing in pokemon
Every now and then I come across or remember something I loved as a kid. Stuff that I always wanted to do as an adult.
Gives me motivation to do them
My biggest childhood interest was gaming, and I still keep up with it today. But I did get myself a PSP again after selling my old one I had as a kid, to use not only for games but also music and occasionally movies/shows. Been enjoying it a lot
Crafting & making/decorating cupcakes
Yeah. I was a big bionicle kid and I found gundam a few years ago and it’s been a ride
I went back to a few, and I'd added more. But unfortunately theres some interests which i am kinda unable to follow up on due to geographical and monetary issues.
For those I have though, worth it.
Dudeee, im literally making bead pets as Christmas gifts

My teenage interest in video editing, so close enough.
Skateboarding. Damn it feels awkward with this rigit and heavy body, especiallly stopping and how much faster it accelerates on downhill. Still trying to get comfortable with it.
We're ponyposting again

I played Marine Park Empire again last month. A game that I haven't played since I was 10.
I really loved cutting peaces (photos and people) out the newspaper and taping them anywhere i could. My mom told me once she came back from work and saw me taping black and white portraits of people to the walls of our home and they were all cut out from the death announcements page
Yes
Oh yeah. A couple months ago I broke out my Bella Sara card collection and logged back into my old account
Yeah I was totally bonkers about pirates for most of my childhood and this year I published my debut novel that has a pirate attack in it!
