• I never used it tbh but it had the same energy as sending streaks on Snapchat. It just gets old and pointless after awhile

  • Bereal was extremely niche as is. Nobody I know used it, I only vaguely heard of it

Hmmm I think it was mostly prominent in the 2000 and up zoomers, and as people got older and left college and got busy, they stopped using it. That’s my best guess.

Nah it was definitely just core and younger zoomers that were into it so those born around 2002 onwards. I never seen anyone born in 2000 who used it. There’s some in here who didn’t even know what it was or that they never used it

Im 2001 and it became a thing with my friends around 2022. One of my friends (born in 2000) still uses it when he's out doing shit. It definitely had a moment lol but if you arent big into social media you probably didnt use it.

Yeah that makes sense. Most people I know that year didn’t use it except for like a handful of people but that’s because they either had younger siblings or friends with those younger. It’s definitely used more frequently with those born around 2002 onwards for sure based on what I noticed

There was a period from like 2020-maybe 2022 where my fraternity all used it, this was when I was in college so everybody would have been like 99-02 born. The last I remember anyone using it was summer 2022

Yeah I think it’s more of a mix if you had it or not. So pretty much 50/50 from what I’m seeing. I do know that it was more prominent with core zoomers for sure. That’s pretty much how it is with anything that seems targeted towards them

Ahhh I see. Yea that makes sense. Literally 80% of the comments here consists of people being absolutely confused lmao.

I used it for a brief few months and it was nice cause it was right before my dog died and I had some last pics of him before he passed

Got it. Yeah like I said it’s one of those apps where either someone used it or someone didn’t

It was never a thing at my college. We have a few local apps for that sort of thing and there was this reddit for colleges knock off that was pretty popular until the pandemic. Can’t recall the name but it was more like NextDoor than BeReal.

  • I’ve never heard of it.

I was like wtf is that lol

  • My brother in Christ idek what that is.

  • I mean, it's useless to another degree. Used it for 3 months in mid-2021 and I was like : wtf's the point. Deleted it.

Woah was it big in mid 2021? Only heard of it at the end of 2022

Idk how big it was but it was somewhat well-known where i'm from. My coworker had it and he made me download it. A lot of his friends had it, a couple of my friends too.

  • this just reminded me it existed 😭 i stopped after like 6 months in 2022 because i lost my job and didn’t want to tell anyone but my bereals were usually of my desk at work and i didn’t want anyone wondering why i started posting pictures at home during the workday 💀

you’re not crazy though i had a bunch of friends my age and older who used it. it was def a thing for a lot of early gen z

Holy shit finally someone I could relate to. I only downloaded the app because a friend of mine begged me to download it.

But at the time I was a college dropout and recently quit my job, and I didn’t want her to know that, so I barely posted or posted a black screen if I wanted to see others bereals lmao. Definitely a dark time but thankful I’m in school and close to getting a job.

  • I’ve never heard of it until now.

  • I downloaded the app and then never opened it once

  • I only heard of BeReal from my 2003-born friend, she posted a temporary picture of me and her on it in around 2023. I didn’t make an account or anything myself. I don't know if she still has the app now, might ask. ☺️

Yea it’s definitely a core zoomer thing, especially mid 2000s. Our age range never really used it.

  • I never used it. Who cares what I’m doing at random times during the day? And I don’t particularly care what others are doing either haha

  • I’m actually shocked so many of you haven’t heard of BeReal!! It was HUGE on my college campus around 2023.

  • One YouTuber I watched sometimes mentioned it offhand once and that's the only time I've ever heard of it

  • My sister still uses it occasionally. She got me and a few cousins to download it, but we all gave up after a few days lol

  • Oh this app went hard when I was at Emory. I never used it but it was really big with the student body. I thought that it was a Snapchat clone tbh

  • It was fun while it lasted. Interesting idea for a social media app for sure, but idk I just got bored with it. If I had brief moment I wanted to immortalize on social media I could just post it on my instagram story. Once the novelty of the app wore off it really didn't serve a purpose.

  • I'd never heard of it until now.

  • Was that the one where it would like ping you randomly throughout the day and you had to take a picture of whatever you were doing? I didn’t use it but I think a few of my friends did

  • I don’t know what that is

Edit: oh wait BeReal. I’ve never used it

  • Wtf does this even mean

  • Best sums up the comment section lmao

  • I forgot what it was for a second and read it like cereal 💀

  • I've never heard of it.

  • I thought you were saying a term we all stopped using. I wasn’t aware there’s an app

Lmaooo, what year were you born btw.

  • I forgot about that app. I downloaded it just to see what the hype was about, but I only used it for a few days, and then got tired of it and forgot about it, then deleted it. There was a BeReal type feature on TikTok at one point too, but I think that feature got removed.

  • always be real, never be fake.

i still like using it. nothing more than just a slice of life check in type of app. it is dead asf over there tho:(

  • i forgot it existed if i’m being entirely honest

  • The hell you talking about? Never heard of it

  • Every now & then if I’m doing something cool when it goes off I’ll take a pic, maybe like once or twice a month lol

  • What is bereal?
