Yes, bagpipes. In planning for my first trip on the QM2 this June I was reading the FAQ and see specific rules about bagpipes. It may be smart that Cunard addresses the issue, but also kind of amusing. Since I cannot play them, no prob, but are bagpipers known to be a problem?

  • Ever since the incident in 1927 there have been no bagpipes allowed in staterooms.

    But allowed everywhere else?

A lot of people say the decline of the Transatlantic ocean liner era dates back to this situation. It had ripple effects beyond what you might at first imagine.

  • To get an answer I think you would need to contact Cunard directly and ask them.  If that doesn't get any traction try contacting some of the cruise youtubers - maybe Gary Bembridge or Emma Cruises.

Maybe they just get a LOT of bagpipe issues because they have more scottish people cruising and bagpipes are LOUD?  It really is funny it's specifically called out though.

haha.. I usually encounter some Scottish folks on my trips. It is quite funny that bagpipes are specifically called out.

Have you ever seen a bagpipe on a cruise? lol

    Nope. It's so random.
