As a husband,dad and granddad, I would appreciate my wife, daughter or granddaughter wearing something similar. It is dressing up for the gathering, not ripped jeans and a tee shirt. In fact I would feel a bit underdressed during the family photo.
I do agree about a splash of color, perhaps a candy cane pin or a bit of holly.
