i was diagnosed with ocd a couple of months ago and i go to therapy every 2-3 weeks. i initially said no to medication because im worried about the side effects (still am).

curious for personal stories - at one point did you decide to go on meds and what was your experience with them?

  • When I tried to become better in everyway possible way I can & still failed.

Here I felt something is missing.

Did meds help ur ocd, and what r u taking what dosage

My story is brutal bro. I tried many meds.

    currently Sympalta 60mg

but eventually i am in 100% better position in all aspects.

U r in a good place now, thats what matters

  • It would be better to get treatment weekly if you can. Also try to learn as much about OCD as possible and practice often. Use your desire to avoid medication as motivation.

If you can I would advise avoiding meds as they are a pain to manage long term. It takes a long time to see if they work and make changes etc. Also, some people tolerate them well but others have bad side effects. Now if your are checking things 12 hours a day that is another calculation.

  • My personal experience can be summed up as a song quote from waterpark, "I miss having sex, but at least I don't want to die anymore and I think that's pretty cool"

There will be the ups and downs of finding the right medications for you but finding the right combination can be life changing. The side effects are a bummer but they are outweighed by the benefits in my book.
