A 28-year-old woman identified as Tracy Wilson has been arrested by the Delta State Police Command for allegedly sexually abusing her three-year-old daughter in an incident police authorities have described as “one of the most disturbing cases of child abuse in recent times.”

The crime came to light after the child’s father raised an alarm and filed a report at the police station. According to the police, he submitted video evidence that allegedly captured the abuse, prompting officers to immediately pick up Tracy.

Delta Police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the arrest, said investigations and medical examinations carried out on the child revealed signs consistent with abuse.

“The allegations are credible and extremely troubling.” he said.

During questioning, Tracy admitted to engaging in inappropriate sexual activity with her daughter, acknowledging that the abuse began when the child was only eight months old. She also confessed to infecting the child with sexually transmitted disease (STD), damaging her vulva and taking explicit photographs and videos of the acts. “I feel bad for my actions,” she said.

Police stress that additional forensic analysis is ongoing and the case will be charged to court.

Police have urged Nigerians to remain vigilant, noting that early reporting, as done by the father, is often the only way abused children can be rescued from dangerous situations.
