Hey!

I'm about to move into a small apartment (my first time), and I'm wondering where to install an electric oven.

The options I thought of are:

  1. Over the fridge (will it overheat it?)
  2. Over the stove (will the stove overheat the oven?)
  3. Inside the cabinet next to the stove (can the wooden cabinets burn while using the oven?)
  4. over the cabinet next to the stove (I would install a wooden table to support it). Perhaps the best option, but it will cover part of the window.
  5. In the living room, but it will be very uncomfortable.

This is the kitchen (if it is wrong to share it, let me know and I will remove it): https://ibb.co/pjpcKm89

Thanks!

Side notes:

The oven is 45L, 56cm wide, 35cm high, 42cm deep

It does not fit under the stove

My living room is quite big compared to the kitchen

Fridge is 55x55x160 cm

The kitchen is 155cm wide

It is not possible to modify the construction (can't demolish walls)

  • I'd probably put it over the fridge, assuming the door is not like an oven door that pulls down, then it gets awkward. Get one with "french doors" or a hinged one like a microwave. It won't harm the fridge if it doesn't harm countertops.

DO NOT put in inside a cabinet.

  • Do you need to stay in one place? Looking at your kitchen it may be easier to put it near the sink when you use it and store it once it has cooled down if you're not using it all the time.

I would not put an oven on the fridge. You can put "heavy" things on top of it but I wouldn't trust it to handle the heat well.

Despite possible, it will be very uncomfortable. I will consider it, though! Thanks

  • Is that a microwave on the floor

Get some shelving there instead. You can fit an oven, microwave, and a third thing too

It's the oven, I just moved it there to show you all the layout!

  • Get a utility cart that is made from metal of some kind - i.e. heat resistant . You could move the cart around but leave it stashed where the microwave is. Most of them have two levels so you could fir the microwave on the lower level.

If your living room is large you could even keep the cart there and just roll it into the kitchen when you want it to be in close proximity to your work space.

Above the refrigerator would making taking things in and out potentially tricky.

Thanks for this option! Will highly consider it!!

Do not put on a wood table as heat could ignite it potentially.

A table made of a heat resistant top would be fine or you could even get a small piece of granite and place the oven on that to eliminate issues from the heat

You can’t place an oven in a cabinet as that would be a fire hazard as the heat would build up. Wall ovens in cabinets are specially designed. You shouldn’t even have a stove to close to the exterior of a cabinet or even a wall because of potential fire hazards.
