I have an adjacent answer to this: Many years ago, I watched the movie “Heavenly Creatures”, and hearing how they pronounced the name “Deborah/Debra” as De-bore-uh caused me to say it that way in my head when I meet/read/overhear a discussion about someone named Deborah/Debra who is not a good person. (Edited to add that I am American, and I pronounce it Deb-ruh. I believe other English speakers, particularly in the UK and Europe, pronounce it as the movie does, but I was young and impressionable. This was pre-internet for poorer people, and it was the first time I had ever heard it that way.)
That’s pretty, but I’m missing the bad character or what ruined that. I’ve steered away from horror movies. Yet I’ll watch Dexter! Just not slasher movies!
Well the character is not horrible or disgusting, the movie is about as cringy as it gets. I always liked the name Esme but after it was used in Twilight, I can never see it the same again
Funny enough I really like the name renesmee and think it’s pretty even though everyone hates on it but I’d never subject a child to that name given the background. 🤣
Loved Annabelle until… now I’ve met the lady who makes those dolls and characters at a Spookala fest and more creeped out by Annabelle and the name! I declined having my picture taken for free from her with one of the Annabelle’s used in movies. Nope on a ripe!
When my wife was pregnant with our first son, her and her mom were going on and on about trying to pick a name. I suggested the name "Mildew". They both immediately rejected it, but then they realized what I had actually said. I still hear about this on occasion. LOL.
so far this thread mostly names that seem off anyways but your’s Erika mix feelings on know someone irl in that name, Gus like initially character from Sweet Tooth show
Why don't you just tell us the person's name you think was the most beautiful name you had ever heard, but then it was used in a movie as the name for a character who was gross, disgusting, evil, or something horribly negative, and now you think of that movie character every time you hear that name?
I have a brain 🧠 thing and anytime I hear a familiar name I immediately remember the person I know associated with that name and lose it internally sometimes externally because I’m thinking of the person I know with the name.
My friend named her child Malichah (sp). Granted she’s half my age, but the name fits that child 🤣. Children of the corn scared me shitless in grade school or whenever I was still not 14. Granted, I went to first grade at 5, so young for my school years.
This is weirdly specific

8 years after I named my baby Aleda my cousin who works in movies called to warn me about his new project: Alita Battle Angel
Wasn’t that character a wholesome protagonist for the most part?
Guess I should have specified, I hate the way it's spelled
Is a real life person allowed?

It gets used in Peaky Blinders, too! From what I recall, she was quite badass. It's funny how it can work in both directions!

Ya, it doesn’t quite roll off the tongue does it

Ever since that space movie came out, I've been suspicious of people named Darth.
