Please Sean, I have money! Let me give you a dollar! And what does he do? Gives us another major update and reruns for missed timed opportunities! For free!
You can give him dollars when LNF releases. That’s what I plan to do. I’m not even interested in it because other than NMS, I’ve never been interested in base building survival type games.. however for all the fun I’ve gotten out of NMS I’m definitely buy LNF right away. Maybe I’ll like it. If not then it won’t even feel like a loss to me because it’ll be going to HG. I know that’s probably a weird thing to do and people will laugh at it, but I have lots of money and I respect Sean and the team for all of the updates to NMS.
Agreed! Like I commented elsewhere in here, my original $60 back at launch in 2016 has gotten me a hell of a lot of entertainment value, more than any other game I've bought.
I've run out of systems to rebuy it on and I've gifted it to a few friends of mine so I'd have more people to play with.
If any dev has earned the right to offer paid DLC, its Hello Games.
Definitely plan to be a Day 1 LNF player. Even if its a buggy mess, HG has proven they'll do right by us. (But please don't launch it until it's actually fully baked...)
On the one hand at this point we're conditioned to say "yeah that's a little weird", but on the other hand Hello Games has set themselves apart from most typical game developers and it actually makes sense too. Support your local Hello Games dev today!
I know that’s probably a weird thing to do and people will laugh at it,
People will laugh at it, but I don't think it's weird. People will laugh at anything.
I played Expedition 33 on Game Pass, finished it and bought the Deluxe Edition on Steam a month later. I wanted to play it again and I could have done that on gamepass, but I wanted to own the game and I wanted to support the devs.
Exactly, I havne't played the game but the fact it went froma joke to something that they can be proud of and people enjoy is impressive. Unlike FFXIV which is honestly doing the reverse of No Man's Sky, it's sad how it's current development cycle is a joke and insult to people who pay a dang subscription to play the game.
You're 100% correct. As someone who played both and loved both, they're opposites in that regard. I enjoyed FFXIV SO much from ARR all the way through Endwalker. I don't know how to describe it, but Dawntrail felt so... hollow? Empty? Predictable? A shell of it's former self? I dunno. Haven't felt the slightest desire to play since 7.0. I hope they can pull themselves together, I love Eorzea but just don't feel it right now.
it went stormblood style if you are curious, main expac was mid, then patch cycle 7.1-7.3 was good, hoping it follows the trend that lead to shadowbringers and 7.4/7.5 are bangers, the arcadion raids were REALY Good and the highlight so far, both the fights and the ost, but yeah I can see how 7.0 was not so great to a lot of people
DT's story was definitely a step down but almost everything else to come from the expansion has been very well regarded so to call it reverse no man's sky when it did the exact same thing over a decade span is hilariously wrong
Well ffxiv DID do a no man’s sky. Realm reborn is a relaunch of the original game. It launched and flopped. Square shut it down for a year or a year and a half or something. Fixed it and relaunched. I was so excited for it.
I finally bought the game last year on PC, got the Xbox version this year (PC is non functioning atm) and I'm loving it. There's a lot to do and I absolutely love that I just do not need to interact with another person if I don't want to, I've only run into a couple of systems discovered by other people. Other games can learn so much from NMS. Like just fucking let me stop doing a mission because I want a break. It doesn't ruin my immersion. You can have a narrative RPG that doesn't feel rushed or forced. A huge lesson is "don't be afraid to make things easier for players" because NMS has done this over and over and honestly I'm struggling to find changes that I don't mind. Now that I'm on Xbox it's highlighted some things but they are so minor compared to other crap games do I can wait patiently until it's changed.
I love both games (My #1 and #3 most played games on Steam) but Helldivers updates have been of such inconsistent quality. It's such a rollercoaster every time they release an update. New content, yay! bugs, noooo! Balance, nonexistent!
Congrats to everyone who has worked at Hello games, past, present and future and all the passionate work they've put into this game for the last 9 years. And Congratulations to this games incredible community for continuing to make this universe a welcome and memorable place to play and interact <3
My point wasn't that the other games were bad. It was that the NMS team's effort over the years to continue to make this game better doesn't belong in the same category as the games that it was with. They should change the name of the award to the No Man's Sky award.
Right. I think there's some misinterpretation of what you were saying. I think it speaks volumes that this game is getting better and better without the need for money grabs or gachas or 'seasons'. Their love for their product made this game a masterpiece. Well-deserved.
Even though the devs may never see this, y’all have made a truly 10/10 incredible game. You all deserve this award and many more. This game has a permanent place on all my devices.
Well, when you have two games, and one of them charges essentially a subscription, and makes you pay for every cosmetic they add to the game, and that game is up against one with 10 years of totally free DLC expansions with cosmetics you only need to play the game to earn...
Which one would win "best"? Not exactly a tough call.
As it should be. Hello Games has proven time and time again over the years that they are passionate about what they do. They absolutely deserve this. Now can we please get some LNF news lol literally anything, even just another trailer.
Was hoping for hell divers until i saw no mans sky, havent played in forever but happy this game got some roses for the dedication in not giving up hope
I bought the game at launch and this game has evolved in so many ways, and most of them are good. To quote Star Trek Enterprise, "It's been a long road, getting from there to here..."
God knows they earned it. I was expecting rivals to win due to (imo) unnecessary hype around it, really happy someone who (again, imo) actually deserves it. Not saying Rivals is bad, just not best ongoing worthy, imo.
NMS is the definition of this kind of award. For all the vitriol they got for their uninspired launch, they’ve repaid the debt tenfold. Them not charging for these transformative updates is unheard of. Despite its obvious popularity, I still don’t think the majority of gamers understand how different the game is now.
As someone who was pre-order, got through the “story”, and never wanted to play again… I’m hugely impressed they dug in and have been slaying it with updates. Congrats!
Get ready for Sean "I'm gonna drop one more fucking huge update" Murray's tweet
But it doesn't mean I don't have another after that!!
And another one!
Major key
AND MY AXE!
And my Multi-tool!
I kept expecting them to stop, or to say the next update will be a paid DLC. Continuously amazed by them!
Having to manage different levels of DLC could be more difficult than just giving the DLC to everyone.
They still have ongoing sales of the game to pay for development and support.
Reminder to self: set-up Steam accounts for kids so I can gift them NMS.
Dad?
Meanwhile Destiny managing DLCs:
Remember when we thought Omega would be the last one?
Itll probably end when they stop testing systems for their upcoming game
Please Sean, I have money! Let me give you a dollar! And what does he do? Gives us another major update and reruns for missed timed opportunities! For free!

Nope, I agree. It will be a purchase from me just to support HG.
On the one hand at this point we're conditioned to say "yeah that's a little weird", but on the other hand Hello Games has set themselves apart from most typical game developers and it actually makes sense too. Support your local Hello Games dev today!

More will follow...
They should just rename this category to Best No Man's Sky lol
Literally said this out loud when I saw the post. This gif sealed the deal👌
10 years of effort. Well deserved

FFXIV had one bad expansion after a couple of bangers. It was bound to happen at some point. Calm down. It’s not doing a reverse no man’s sky.
DT's story was definitely a step down but almost everything else to come from the expansion has been very well regarded so to call it reverse no man's sky when it did the exact same thing over a decade span is hilariously wrong

I need to pull the trigger on this game and stop being a wish list on Steam.
Don’t worry, after 116 hours you’ll forget your life with it the game. Kzzrt
Right?
I've never played the game but from the shit show it was upon release I'm really happy for them.
….bruh. What’s stopping you?
You should play it, it’s a good time
I finally bought the game last year on PC, got the Xbox version this year (PC is non functioning atm) and I'm loving it. Probably more like 15. They were developing this game for years before it was released.
Light no fire confirmed?

That was the first thing I noticed.
the LNF subreddit is losing their mind over that lol
I need to go over and join them.
looks at username
Yeah you do
Literally the first anything since announcement 😭
Uh, fitting name.
Well deserved
As a Helldiver, you deserved it the most!
I too am a Helldiver but I’m an Interloper first
Grahhh!!
Ice Spice is Vykeen confirmed?
Agreed, Grahhhhh!
Interdiver? Hellloper?
I play Helldivers as well, and I 100% agree that NMS deserved it more. I'm so happy for Hello Games.
I love both games (My #1 and #3 most played games on Steam) but Helldivers updates have been of such inconsistent quality. It's such a rollercoaster every time they release an update. New content, yay! bugs, noooo! Balance, nonexistent!
NMS has just been improvement after improvement.
I didn't think it'd happen, but well deserved.
I Acknowledge You, Sean Murray. My Galactic Chief.
I hope he's well, they confirmed he had to stay back due to a family emergency
More like galactic chef, man cooks every single update
Years late but ever so deserved!!!
Have they not won this award in previous years? I swear they did.
Yea. And they did amazing again this year, it’s one of few awards you actually can, and can deserve to win twice
Congrats to everyone who has worked at Hello games, past, present and future and all the passionate work they've put into this game for the last 9 years. And Congratulations to this games incredible community for continuing to make this universe a welcome and memorable place to play and interact <3
YEEES took long enough I got on just to post about this too... MAYBE SOME LIGHT NO FIRE INFO???
Is any of their direct competition from almost a decade ago even still around at this point? I think NMS outlasted them all.
Elite’s still around and on some resurgence but not as celebrated as NMS. SC has made 800m+ in alpha.
SC is still a mess though. Playable and actually starting to add more content, but still an unoptimized mess.
That's not exactly a metric with any value given that game's monetization scheme. What's their daily active player count like?
No game has deserved this award more. Up against games that only are there due to battle passes and cosmetics...
That downplays Hello Games' win. We won cause we're better, not cause they're bad.
My point wasn't that the other games were bad. It was that the NMS team's effort over the years to continue to make this game better doesn't belong in the same category as the games that it was with. They should change the name of the award to the No Man's Sky award.
There it is!

A lot of them for sure scroll this subreddit. Hope they’re grinning while reading all these super nice comments
This is the most excited I'll be this year for a game winning something.
You love to see it!
GRAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!
I'm genuinely surprised it beat Fortnite off all things. Wonder if its cause Fortnite is like 90% ads now lol
As an interloper and a fortnite player the amount of IP that fortnite is saturated with is insane.
Nms is my quiet getaway from what feels like a targeted ad.
Well deserved award for one of my favorite games ever.
It’s where I let my adhd run wild
Fortnite is just a microtransaction shop masquerading as a game.
After the Corvette update I would say it's super well deserved.
Woohoo!
Damn OP, you're fast! 😂
It’s a shame Sean couldn’t be there, would have loved to see him accept the award
YEAH!!!!!
As it should be. Hello Games has proven time and time again over the years that they are passionate about what they do. They absolutely deserve this. Now can we please get some LNF news lol literally anything, even just another trailer.

SO DESERVED CONGRATS NMS TEAM!!
We remain.
I bought the game at launch and this game has evolved in so many ways, and most of them are good. To quote Star Trek Enterprise, "It's been a long road, getting from there to here..."
Didn't play this game for a long time and lots of huge updates, but I knew just by watching this sub that the game 10000% deserved this award!
Tremendously deserved
Let’s go
God knows they earned it. I was expecting rivals to win due to (imo) unnecessary hype around it, really happy someone who (again, imo) actually deserves it. Not saying Rivals is bad, just not best ongoing worthy, imo.
My God, what a fall and rise this game has had. They deserve it too, the game is absolutely incredible now, and they continue to make it better.
Woohoo!!!
Well deserved. I can't think of another game that has that much support at no cost continuously like that. Just constant improvements.
Fucking finally!!!!!!! Way to go HG!!!
Well deserved 👏
Fuck yes! Hello games deserves this!
NMS is the definition of this kind of award. For all the vitriol they got for their uninspired launch, they’ve repaid the debt tenfold. Them not charging for these transformative updates is unheard of. Despite its obvious popularity, I still don’t think the majority of gamers understand how different the game is now.
Well deserved!
If any game in the history of games deserves this, it's No Man's Sky.
I've never celebrated a game award, but i almost jumped out of my chair on this one. Well deserved, it was about time.
Deserved. One must reward gaming's biggest positive course-correction.
They definitely deserve it. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Awesome. It's deserved.
This makes me happy to be a Traveler
SEAN KEEPS WINNING AND HELLO GAMES KEEPS DESERVING IT
Let’s goooooo!
Well deserved!
Best live service game on the market. One time purchase, no microtransactions, all updates are free.
Great jobs guys!! Thanks for never giving up
SO DESERVED
Wow it's only taken 5 years to get the award. I'm shocked Cyberpunk isn't getting jerked off again.
No need for CP to catch strays. It, too, is a fantastic game.
https://preview.redd.it/7vo5uim1wo6g1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=00cd2a19b5a851522b470d0d9df677727d3583da
We did it!!
Fucking shared the stage with that idiot Andrew Schulz of all people
Congrats Hello games!
Congratulations! Well deserved.
duh
Hell yes, well earned.
Hell yeah
This is what they promised when the game was being developed that it would go on
Yes! I voted for this.
WOOOO
Deserved MANY times over, as many times as there are free expansions and expeditions
They truly deserve it 👏
Well deserved. Take notice CIG.
As someone who was pre-order, got through the “story”, and never wanted to play again… I’m hugely impressed they dug in and have been slaying it with updates. Congrats!
Richly deserved! This makes me happy.
I’m so glad they’re getting recognition like this. Bravo
From a Helldivers 2 player, congrats to NMS for this award
GRAH!
I want a game awards trophy to put up in my base
