Hey all, just a quick clarification regarding rule 9 and which crossposts we tend to allow vs remove.
We really don’t want to have a ton of posts here just complaining and arguing about how other people have chosen to landscape their property. Those type of crossposts often lead to quasi-brigading behavior and the discussion is almost never productive. The purpose of this sub is not to fight with r/lawncare; we want to lift up r/nolawns content and educate people seeking to transform their yards.
Occasionally someone will post in r/lawncare or r/landscaping and get directed here based on what they are seeking to do, and those type of crossposts are welcome and encouraged.
In general for crossposts:
- positive transformations of r/nolawn style landscaping and/or OP seeking to implement r/nolawn style landscaping ✅
- r/lawncare style posts crossposted here to complain ❌
One option would be to just turn off cross-posting. It isn't well-implemented on Reddit, since the text accompanying the image doesn't show up on the crosspost. So you get a lot of comments from people asking for context that was already included in the original. It would also address the quasi-brigading. It isn't that much more effort for someone to create a new post and copy-paste the text instead of cross-posting, and solves so many problems.
But since I mostly just lurk in this community, there may be issues I'm not seeing with turning cross-posting off.
Yup we’ve considered it. Occasionally we do see people crossposting from r/lawncare or r/landscaping who get sent here after describing what they’re seeking for their yard, so I’ve been hesitant to ban them. r/landscaping especially is one which I feel like we ought to still allow since it’s so broad.
But if turning off cross posts from certain subs is what our community wants, I have no issue with that. We’ve already blocked some spam subs and political subs.
Question, how can I copy paste the text? I have tried this before and gave up after like 30min.

On Android, you'd click the three dots at the top of the screen above the post, then select "copy text." Then long press in the text entry area and hit paste. I assume it's very similar on an iPhone.
Thanks for clarifying!
