Greetings!
Following the launch of the Switch 2, and with continued growth of the subreddit, r/NintendoSwitch is looking to add some new moderators to help keep the subreddit running smoothly!
What are the basic duties as a moderator?
- Reviewing new and reported posts and comments to see if they violate the rules
- Responding to questions and concerns from users in Modmail
- Assisting with Release MegaThreads, Direct MegaThreads, AMAs, and other subreddit events
- Contributing to our Wiki pages - some pages still contain outdated information following the Switch 2's release.
What are the requirements to be a moderator?
- Previous activity on r/NintendoSwitch. You don't need to actively be posting, but we prefer you be familiar with the community and have a passion for Nintendo.
- Willing to join our Discord server to be added to private mod channels in order communicate with the other moderators.
- Able to dedicate time to actively perform moderation duties — your life responsibilities and hobbies come first, but please be able to dedicate at least a couple hours a week towards moderating the subreddit.
- Previous moderation experience is NOT required, first time moderators are strongly encouraged to apply.
What's in it for me?
Moderation on this community is purely a volunteer endeavor, you do not get compensation nor free game codes for moderating here. You don't get any insider information nor a contact at Nintendo. Put simply, we are just a bunch of fans doing this because we have a passion for the Switch and the Nintendo community as a whole.
How do I apply?
Submit an application through this Google Form - this should take about 15-25 minutes.
We will review applications as they come in and will begin onboarding selected candidates over the next week or two. The form may remain open longer than that, so send us a modmail if you would like an update about your application status.
If you have any questions regarding moderation duties or the application process, please put them below.
Cheers!
Mod me daddy
Nice.
This position should be open to parking officers, ticket inspectors, etc.
I have no idea how people have the time to purposely volunteer to do this level of work.
It should be paid.
edit: this isn’t every mod out there, i’m referring to a specific sub-genre of reddit / online forum moderators, i believe there’s genuine passionate people
it’s cuz suckers like “power” so they will do it free.
“If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you.” - LBJ (obviously context is not the same, but the idea of the message and overall meaning is very similar and is such a good quote).
It's the passion behind being part of a like-minded community that drives people to become mods. From personal experience, it's great to be able to grow a community's size and see more people engage in it.
And for the other people who become mods, it's for "Unlimited Power" like Palpatine once said lol. But those people go after the mega subs instead.
How much are yall paying by the hour?
Uu
I’ll do it. I always end up doing it.
Thank you for your service 🫡
