Hey everyone, I've read the guides on karma limits. I want to contribute without looking like I'm just trying to farm points, but I'm a bit nervous about what actually resonates with people. Do you guys generally prefer humor, detailed help, or just chill conversation? I'm just trying to figure out how to "read the room" so I can actually be part of the community without stepping on toes. Thanks!

It depends on the subreddit. In this sub, every post should be a question about how to use Reddit and every comment should correctly answer the question. Meme subs are for memes but memes in a serious medical subreddit are a big no-no.
If you’re looking for what resonates in each subreddit, sort the feed by best. Read the posts that are getting big upvotes from the community. Are they dad jokes? Are they cute original pet pics? Are they long thoughtful analysis that sparks debate and conversation? Then use similar layout, language and tone when you comment or post.
Depends on the sub. Usees on some subs upvote humor that's appropriate to the topic. Other subs up vote relevance to the topic. The important thing to keep in mind is, does your comment CONTRIBUTE to the subject at hand? I often start typing a comment and end up not posting it because I say to myself, "this isn't really adding anything that other comments have already covered."
That very much depends on the community you're in.
Reading the community description and rules gives you some idea what is and isn't expected.
Then seeing what others comment and how well or not that goes.
Humor and sarcasm is great 😂
Or talk about well known things, like what to take when you're hitchhiking through the galaxy, what's the answer to everything, or what's the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow.
A comment that makes me laugh always gets an upvote, that's for sure!
As long as they aren't rude, spammy, or sounding like a scammer. I'm just trying to help me people out cause I know how it is.
