Think you might be right. I sometimes looked at these pics and thought what a hell hole I was living in. Total chaos. After posting it here, I'm beginning to see it differently.
I wonder if piss bottles en masse are an advent of the Internet era. I certainly never seemed to spend so much intensive time in my room listening to Pantera/reading Joyce/wanking/playing guitar that I felt I simply couldn't get up and use the bathroom like a normal human being.
:P Sorry, historian by training - fwiw it's invariably intended as less "um akshually" and more "oh, I can eke an extra nickel of value out of my degree by sharing". In any case, it's a delightful time capsule of a room (and way too clean to be a neckbeard nest.)
No sweat š» I wasn't spoiling for a fight or anything anyway, friend.
As someone with two degrees in English (but degrees which I readily admit I seem to have done nothing with in any real sense) I also feel compelled to do a languagey flex whenever the opportunity comes up.
Thanks for the bedroom compliment - I have been told it's a little too neat n tidy for this sub by a number of people on here now, which led me to repost it at r/olderbrothercore also, where the responses were wholly different.
It's less about the Internet and more about online live gaming.
If you get xp for staying online and glued to your keyboard, having to get up is a total punishment, especially with games like league of legends where you could get kicked for an hour.
I love this pic! So nostalgic. I miss physical media being everywhere. Thank you for posting this. This inspired a poem that took about 2 hours to write. Been getting into poetry and songwriting, hereās something as tribute. Iāll post it below.
Thank you so much! It was a tough one to write and came with a few tears, but thatās what arts about. I wanted to touch the deep part of us that isnāt ok with all this change, and longs for those simpler, cleaner times.
I love Reddit for these types of interactions. I wish all of you a merry Christmas, and a joyous new year. ā¤ļø
Well, friend, I am honoured that my bedroom reached through three decades of history to inspire you to write that today. Keep up the excellent work, sir.
Itās crazy how that works isnāt it? Something as simple as a nostalgic photograph triggers somebody into doing something and the chain reaction occurs. I will keep it up, maybe one day youāll hear a song in this tone and wonder if itās the stranger from Reddit, and it might be. If I can get there I will.
This room is too nice to qualify for this sub

It's cluttered but tidy (and nary a piss bottle in sight).
I followed a similar aesthetic in the 90's.

Nah, people pissing in jars was a thing a century ago - mental illness across time + mass production.
I didn't say it didn't happen, and anyway you're kind of ruining the point of my throwaway joke.
Peak reddit.

Context is literally everything, is it not?

I know. I just took the opportunity to make a joke about wanking.
I think r/ older brother core (in one word) might love this :)
I can see what you mean
Still a 90s nest! Just cause he don't have piss jugs..
Your Biohazard actually looks pretty clean. Cool room.
Hell yeah bro.. my kind o' nest!.. glorious.. wish we could go back..
this is what i want my room to look like
Dang thatās a shit ton of CDs!
Depressed to report I now own about 12 CDs. Moved a lot. Lost a lot. Sold a lot.
MitchellSold
As an 80s child I now do not own a single CD player, even my car doesn't have one. feelswierdman
Sick man.
i would live here tbh
Looks cool.
that's actually weirdly organized
Weirdly as in "organised in an unorthodox manner", or weirdly as in "very, yet unexpectedly organised"?
The latter

Books and games set around. Weāve a lot of change in our town.
New designs, life was sublime. Before everything sped up in time.
Invisible lines connect the dots.
Old signs came down without a sound. Many stores didnāt make it out.
People blind to all thatās lost.
Now the quiet hangs around. Everything is online somehow.
Glass buildings filled with lies.
I donāt belong in this town. So many people about to drown.
They moved on without us. Nobody asked us. Screens became our water.
Thank you for the nostalgia this fine Sunday morning.
That's really beautiful man. I can feel the yearning and the pain in there. You've definitely touched on the spirit of a bygone era

This is so cool, I love this!!
Yeah, but your stuff was cool!!
Man. You had money.
Reminds me of my dads home office back in ā99 when I was a kid. Dude had SO many DVDās lining bookshelves and older tech. Sick room, dude!
My dad would have wanted to be your best friend probably
Dude. Madball, biohazard, entombed? You were cool.
I see you're not remotely a Slayer fan. Only Disney sing-alongs for this cat.
This is very true.
This is teenage meās dream š
I think you've got a low self-opinion man. Looks like a blast.
This is legit one of the coolest rooms I've ever seen.
Ive been in this room. I think
that Milk & Cheese ppster is badass
Desire desire
Looks hard AF
r/olderbrothercore would love this
A little cluttered maybe but itās clean and looks like a blast
Why the Rollins band poster upside down?
It's on the ceiling. What is "upside down" when it's on a ceiling?
Didnāt notice I just honed in on a cool poster
Wicked, and is that a Gameboy advance I see, should have hid a where's Wally in there
No. Was never a gamer actually. Where are you looking?
3rd image, under the Deftones poster
Whereās the piss jugs
I used carrier bags
