ik its probably because people associate undefined hair with dryness, and i just have the kind of face thats better with undefined styles but i really like the cloud-like visuals of 4c or tight coils. definiton seems like a big deal to a lot of people or like even starts arguements over texture which is lowkey crazy LOL. especially fresh conditioned/washed hair its sooooooo soft and fluffy like cotton or something i love it. even with wigs, something like a sort of nonuniform pattern or brushed out a little, like sensationnels yaki type wigs.
this is lowkey copium tho cuz wash n gos do not fw me lololol
same! I love the way my hair looks when it’s fluffy and undefined. I do big twist outs and I will split and “mess up” the “curls” for a more voluminous fluffy look every time.
completely for me its volume over definition any day
Its my favourite look too. I tend to not do it too often though since I can't figure out how to keep my hair moisturized for as long compared to other styles
Honestly same. I prefer the cloud look over the defined curls. I’ve never really cared to define them. It’s so much easier to just pick my Afro and have some nice volume.
Nothing wrong with it. Just like you cant get the definition some of us cant really get the fluffy look to work. I always think it looks great on other people whereas I just look like I got into a fight with my cat. As long as you feel good that's what matters
I love both. I have moments where fluff is allllll I want! It looks so beautiful and I love when it's as big and happy when it wants to be.
But technically, especially for my hair, fluff is still a manipulative style that can cause damage. The reality is MY hair isn't naturally fluffy. It has to be blow dried or stretched for daaaaaays to look like that.
Then it will start shrinking day after day if I don't keep stretching, and causes damage when it starts tangling.
I think there's no such thing as the "right way" to do Black hair, as if everything we do is trying to run from our "true form." Black hair is a diverse shape shifter. I have joy in letting it do what it wants to do. So sometimes, when I wear it more coiled and defined, I am actually letting it do what it truly wants to do. That is my hair though. I've noticed with some other Black folks the fluff is their hair's happiest place.
So cool how different we all are 🖤
Me too! I actually get more compliments on my hair when it's like that. So maybe others do also.
Same. I love an undefined Afro.
I love the cloud! It's so pretty and fluffy ☁️
Same
I prefer something in-between. Thats why i use curl creams rather than gels
You can get this look if you wash and go with foam
ohh no i can't do them mainly because of the damage. they tear my strands UP </3
Same but because I have high density hair my hair is fluffy even when defined lol so best of both worlds
I love it too, but only on higher density hair than mine. I have a boneless fro and the combination of definition plus strategic fluff can make my low density a little less noticeable.
Me too! And I loooooove seeing this on other black women. Actually, it’s usually my type. I want to lean more into my fluffy moisturized afro this season. 🥰
