Report tomorrow: Yankees “not even close with Gore”, considering other options

    parent
    119 points jar45

Report Monday: The Red Sox have traded for MacKenzie Gore. Yankee talks never progressed beyond Brian Cashman checking in.

    parent root
    31 points tketchum12

Report Tuesday: Yankees in trade talks with Milwaukee for Freddy Peralta.

    Rinse, repeat

    parent root
    6 points rbarton812

"Yankees have agreed to a 3 year contract for former NYPD Detective Jake Peralta. When reached for comment, Brian Cashman said, 'Noice.'"

    parent root
    32 points Wyden_long

“We think we’re getting two top end starters back in May and June so it’s like picking up two players at the deadline.”

    parent root
    16 points UnderstandingSquare7

Report Monday: "The Toronto Blue Jays came to agrrement with MacKenzie Gore over the weekend. Said Toronto GM John Schneider, "We're about winning championships, not pinching pennies, like some of our division rivals".

    parent root
    17 points ELBORI82

Report Tuesday: Yankees sign SP Marcus Stroman to 1YR contract. Cashman noted "flashes of his old form"

    parent root
    -1 points Queasy_Remote_1631

What trade coup have the Red Sox pulled off recently which leaves you feeling so utterly defeated and dominated?

    parent root
    1 points jar45

Sir it’s a dumb joke you don’t need to pick a fight here

    parent root
    1 points JackTripper_

It’s a joke. Lighten up Queasedog.

    parent root
    4 points Useful_Cookie_180

    lol made me chuckle

    parent root
    2 points theerrantpanda99

To be fair, Cashman’s history is littered with inability to trade for elite starting pitching.

    parent root
    1 points babberz22

    Um, Pavano, Vasquez, Montas…

    parent root
    1 points aksack

Gore is not even close to elite

    parent root
    2 points Capital_Maybe2533

Is this report before or after Jomboy teases another stream?

    parent root
    1 points Abject_Day9453

    Lmao

    parent root
    1 points Queasy_Remote_1631

Who really cares one way or the other? Look him up on baseball reference.

    parent root
  • 140 points SgtCheeseBoy

This offseason summed up with Yankees in talks with x. Yankees interested in y. Yankees far apart with z.

    parent
    42 points AgathorKahn

y goes elsewhere. Yankees and y were never close

    parent root
    11 points AwesomeExo

Don't forget the "Yankees never interested in y, used for media negotiation."

    parent root
    3 points silver-cat-13

And we keep getting our hopes up and then feeling down (at least I have)

    parent root
    6 points JoshHartsMilkMustach

And we sign Z to a minor league deal

    parent root
    1 points brokenarrow

We already did that with Zack Short #ZS59

    parent root
    1 points IMSYE87

But have you considered A, B and C?

    parent root
  • 44 points thediesel26

This is just a regurgitation of Bryan Hoch’s very general report that the Yankees remain engaged with the Nationals and Brewers about Gore and Peralta. I doubt anything is close or even likely.

    parent
    2 points novacaine14

I have to think the front office feels some sort of pressure with the rest of the division getting better. It all starts with signing Belli though, then Dominguez & Jones will be involved in trade negotiations.

    parent root
    5 points RoyalOakPiguet

    I have to think

And that's what separates you from Brian Cashman

    parent root
    1 points novacaine14

I am definitely more optimistic but Cashman isn’t one to sit pat the entire offseason. If they don’t make a trade, they will at least make a signing. There are plenty of free agents left.

    parent root
  • 34 points Emperor_Cheeto21

When Gore is traded to some team like Boston

"Yankees were never close to a deal"

    parent
  • 32 points IMSYE87

Cash calls Nats: You guys willing to trade Gore?
Nats: Not necessarily, make us an offer we can't refuse.
Cash: Ok, I'll call back, we're asking around.

MEDIA: YANKEES IN ADVANCED TRADE NEGOTIATIONS WITH NATS FOR GORE

    More accurately

MEDIA: The Yankees have remained engaged in talks with the Nationals and Brewers about Gore and Peralta

AGGREGATORS/INFLUENCERS/GRIFTERS: YANKEES ARE IN ADVANCED TRADE NEGOTIONS WITH THE NATS FOR GORE HERE IS AN AFFILIATE LINK TO OUR JUST IN CASE STREAM WINK WINK

  • 15 points Andjoo

Oh boy, can't wait for nothing to come out of this. 🙄

    parent
  • 11 points underground_cloud

The incovenient truth is they ain't doing crap until Belli signs.

    parent
  • 8 points NineInchPythons

Fucking hell. Yarborough is going to be the Yankees #3 starter by May 1st.

    parent
  • 8 points SnorkyB

My camp has reached out to Sydney Sweeney. I’ll let you know how it goes tomorrow.

    parent
    3 points kingslayer9224

I’m giving you better odds of getting something done than Cash at this point

    parent root
  • 4 points Masta0nion

I heard we may get Gerrit Cole this year. If that’s the case, I’d say it’s a good offseason. What do you think, Brian?

    parent
  • 3 points draculasbitch

We don’t know that Cole/Rodon will really be ready before Memorial Day. We don’t know if Clark will be ready by Labor Day. We can’t wait until we are 15 games back by the trade deadline. For $5.8 per and three years of control I’m on board.

    parent
  • 3 points bernbabybern51

    Don't trade Elmer.

    parent
  • 3 points cheesypuffs15

Cashman has had such a bad offseason, imo.

    parent
  • 3 points paulerxx

Yeah....I don't want this guy, at all. 1.35 WHIP? 4+ ERA?

    parent
    1 points aksack

He's had one barely above average season and the rest have been below average or at best average. Maybe they're banking on potential but guys like this are all over free agency.

    parent root
  • 5 points GonzoTheGreat22

Just fucking do SOMETHING. I can’t take this no more

    parent
  • 2 points Suspicious_Hand_2194

    Don’t we love to talk

    parent
  • 2 points Poonpan85

Blah blah blah. I’m tired of this shit.

    parent
  • 2 points Superman811

not falling for this shit again lol we ain't doing shit

    parent
  • 2 points Ven18

When was the last time the Yankees did truly nothing in the offseason? Cause it’s looking more and more likely we do literally nothing and that is both crazy and feels unprecedented for the Yankees. Even if we don’t sign the biggest guy every year we are always making moves. It feels so obvious the Hal (and to an extent all other owners) are basically planing for a lockout or worse either way the CBA next year and are likely colluding (either officially or implicitly) to keep FA cost low leading into the CBA to better push a salary cap. Hell the Dodgers are barely spending this offseason and they have infinitely money from the Ohtani Code.

    parent
  • 2 points LordJiraiya

He’s a career below average pitcher. ERA+ of 98 in 532.1 IP. The one thing I’ll say is he’s a good back end rotation innings eater. But that’s about it

    parent
  • 2 points _SundayNightBlues_

He sucks against righties and has a career 4.19 ERA. Please let this not be the big off-season prize.

    parent
  • 2 points Savages_in_box

Cashman having a GOAT offseason of 'checking in', 'showing interest', 'in trade talks with' while acquiring nobody

    parent
  • 1 points DA_87

Another guy with upside who might not crack our playoff rotation. Not exactly a GO FOR IT move. But not a bad move to improve the rotation especially early in the year.

    parent
  • 1 points ColdGloop

Lol. I’ve heard this one before

    parent
  • 1 points Smithers9713

    Uh huh, Im sure lol

    parent
  • 1 points NarwhalEqualUnicorn

Talks that will lead to nothing

    parent
    1 points AdImpressive9650

They’ll ask for 7. Well offer 3. Rinse. Repeat.

    parent root
  • 1 points ucfknight92

Hopefully we can get his arm slot lower and create a bit more horizontal pitch shape.

    parent
  • 1 points Niceone7_5

I’d like the acquisition but other reports say they aren’t interested in FAs Valdez and Suarez because they are left handed and they already have Fried and Rodon? So which is it? Oh right, the FAs are too expensive.

    parent
  • 1 points novaesq18

I’m here to be hurt again…

    parent
  • 1 points SpacelessWorm

The gore I know about is this entire offseason for us

    parent
  • 1 points 2014olympicgold

Does this mean the Cubs will get Gore?

    parent
  • 1 points Comfortable-Grand166

You sure they aren’t just “checking in”

    parent
  • 1 points Impressive-Collar976

The real question is- are the Yankees ready to give up what the nationals surely want for gore? It won’t be remotely cheap. Not just “jones and ER”.

    parent
  • 1 points General-Plastic-7959

    Don’t do this to me

    parent
  • 1 points shadow_spinner0

    We’ve been here before

    parent

Purely to say we tried something

    parent

Just Cashman doing his due diligence checking in on the Brian Cashman Trade Group (Marlins, Mats, Dback, Cubs, Twins and Pirates)

    parent
  • 1 points LouieLakes7

Report Gore wanted to go to the Yankees but Cashman said no we don’t want you anymore go to the Mets.

    parent
  • 1 points ThisALowQualitySite

"The team has determined no upgrades are necessary, as advanced metrics show our fans and the corporations that own boxes will continue to pay our exorbitant fees ad infinitum, regardless of the quality of product on field. We eagerly await a mediocre 2026 campaign"

I hope it’s not like trade talk for Cabrera

    parent
  • 1 points Competitive_Ring4917

    Do something damn it!!!!!!

    parent
  • 1 points an_album_cover1

Instead of signing players, the Yankees' new off-season meta is chaining trade and FA rumors until it's time to report to camp

    parent
  • 1 points swimteamrasta

    Here we go again!

    parent
  • 1 points SuperNicktendoPower

January 9th Headline: "Gore traded to the Mets, Yankees were never engaged -Heyman"

    parent
  • 1 points Cheap-Cherry-5171

“Yankees offered in-studio access to Clint Frazier’s podcast and an Estevan Florial game-used bat in exchange for Gore.

…Gore went to [insert team here] for non-laughable prospect capital.”

    parent
  • 1 points Elvisruth

Haven't we heard this for several weeks?

    parent
  • 1 points HasheemThaMeat

Guys, it’s ok. We’re saving up all our cash to make the annual huge, league-shaking splash by signing a Pirates washup to a minor league contract to be our random great middle relief for the season

    parent
  • 1 points NewYorkRedditorELITE

Jack Curry, probably: Yankees never close.

    parent
  • 1 points Big_Homework_5996

Smoke and mirrors Hal and Cashman will never pull the trigger it Cody or nothing. Hal wants the payroll to go down

    parent
  • 1 points renegade_yankee

I’m intrigued. He was always a can’t miss prospect that has shown flashes of potential but hasn’t consistently put it all together.

This seems like something Matt Blake can fix.

    parent
  • 1 points Dragon76789

I’ll believe it when I see it.

    parent
  • 1 points Rocky-lad

Gore will definitely be traded to one of the 28 other teams within 48 hours.

    parent
  • 1 points GummyZerg

    parent
  • 1 points Dry_Focus_8089

another guy I can learn about that the Yankees won't get.

    parent
  • 1 points Tylerg_13

Yeah the same way we were all holding our breath about a Cabrera trade lmfao

    parent
  • 1 points AlwaysImproving1992

Rule #1 when reading or hearing anything in regards to Yankees. Dont believe a fucking word until you see there is word of an agreement.

    parent
  • 1 points chickendance638

We need bats. We have 3 positions where we're gonna have below to well-below average offense (3b, ss, c) and a huge question mark in the outfield.

Plus we're still massively vulnerable to lefty starters. Get a RHH already.

    parent
    1 points jsprat5050

Correct, we have not replaced Belli’s production at all and we shouldn’t expect Grish to have the same season and we can’t expect more from SS, C and 3rd. Regarding our returning SP’s, we also can’t expect them to get out of the gate as good or better than they were prior to the IL. So essentially, we are a much lesser of a team.

    parent root
  • 1 points Leather-Map-8138

    He’d be an excellent acquisition.

    parent
  • 1 points jsprat5050

I don’t understand this. We have equal or better arms and pitchers in our top two minor league levels. If we aren’t planning on building a better team than the Jays, Sox, O’s and Rays because of $$ or fear of a lockout then don’t, play our guys.

    parent
  • 1 points Bigdaddy771

    Sure….sure…..sure

    parent
  • 1 points Friggz

Someone on Twitter said the Yankees lead the league in xDiscuss and I got a chuckle out of that.

    parent
  • 1 points FunziCapone

Another agent using Yankees to drum up asking price. Then we’ll find out they didn’t even engage in talks!

    parent
  • 1 points LouieXXVI

    No they’re not lol

    parent
  • 1 points onejay212

I think ppl on this thread are probably right, I refuse to be excited about it.

Now IF - BIG IF - this could happen, 3 years of team control of Gore is going to be a king’s ransom. Talking Jasson, Spencer, Lombard- somebody or bodies will have to be offered to pry Gore away.

    parent
  • 1 points Electronic-Cicada352

    Uh huh. Sure

    parent
  • 1 points Queasy_Remote_1631

The dead end caviling whiners are so twisted and tweaked that they’re pre-emptively butthurt & teased by a scenario in which we might not get Mackenzie f-ing Gore, literally the textbook definition of a replacement level innings eater. Pathetic.

    parent
  • 1 points dagunk1787

Idk who this guy is but I hope he’s for Volpe.

    parent
  • 1 points jmils26

Staff of 4 lefties. Great job Cash

    parent
  • 1 points angryamerica

Gore is unreal. He was throwing flat laser-beams from the right field corner to some dude standing outside the bullpen last time I saw him at Petco. Like, no arc on the ball, at all. Throwing it 200+ feet. It was next level.

    parent
  • 1 points John_6_47

I prefer Peralta, but either one would be fun

    parent
  • 1 points patfenis14

probably a higher floor and would take less prospect value than Cabrera, I wouldn’t hate it

    parent
  • 1 points dBlock845

Even less thrilled about this one than E. Cabrera lol. Seems they only want mid pitchers with multiple years of control.

    parent
  • 0 points johnnyss1

Love it, but zero chance cashman pulls this off. He’ll throw an underwhelming offer at them, another team will beat that offer by a lot— and then heyman will tweet they were never close

    parent
  • 0 points sirhanharvey

    From Cabrera to this?!
