The lyrics, the feel. Oddly accurate to what’s going on right now.

But on the other hand, what do I know… More proper explanation is that I see/feel what I want to feel.

  • There’s this little one called Drones too…

Seeing the Aftermath music video now…

I argue this is even more relevant! And hearing that JFK speech... no wonder he was taken so soon.

  • A song about something that's been going on for hundreds of years, still true 13 years after release.

The earth isn't a closed / isolated system, though. There's this giant fireball in space called "the sun" that adds energy to our system constantly.

Edit: "Renewable" energy -- solar (obviously), but also wind and hydrologic -- is only possible because of the sun. The water cycle exists because the sun adds energy. Wind occurs because the Earth is spinning and the sun unevenly heats the Earth's surface.

The universe is a closed system, and the laws of thermodynamics explain the heat death of the universe, which is also what big freeze is about. And some songs on the album also refer to earth as an isolated system economically, as well as in the way that our ressources are finite and the earth cannot renew itself to feed the rate of humanity.

Obviously the universe is, but the point is strongly made about the planet. The planet is not a closed system. Our resources are not finite, as energy is being constantly added to it (again, the sun exists). You can't steal that base while arguing.

Global hunger is a very bad thing, but it's not a matter of resources. Starvation happens because of conflict and corrupt governments.

Well ressources are still finite, other than just energy. And yes its about the planet, but once again it was mostly centered around humanity, economy, conflict, etc more than simply energy transfers

  • Animals is absolutely relevant to 2025, has been since it came out though

  •

The 2nd Law is one of those perfect songs, in all its aspects. One of those songs you’re gifted only once in your life. The perfect fusion of Art and Science, where thermodynamics became poetry, where Rudolf Clausius and Matt Bellamy sat down to exchange ideas. Fantastic, absolutely fantastic.

    You missed the em dash

I'm not saying it was, I'm saying that's what I think the other comment was implying 😅

The one that said you missed the dash (-)... AI often formulates a reply in that style, using a dash. I think that's what they meant! You asked for an explanation.

What? I think there's language barrier here. No worries! Have a nice day.

But... The 2nd Law is not a song?

I think hes refering to unsustainable and/or isolated system as "the second law"

  • I wish the new album would be like T2L and not what I’m expecting to be an album of won’t stand downs

  • T2L is ironically their most meaningful album

  • It’s not only the 2nd Law as an album. City of Delusion, Algorithm, Unnatural Selection, The Globalist (actually a good chunk of Drones).
