Hi everyone, I've recently unsubscribed from every streaming platform as they were really distracting. But now I'm looking for old classic movies that are available on YouTube. I want something entertaining that can be followed while crocheting as it often requires me to look down at my work. Thanks a lot!
Search "public domain films" and you'll find a million old movies. His Girl Friday is a good one, but there's so many more
I love his girl friday ❣️ and yes i know there are a lot of options to choose from, I'm looking for suggestions for films that you guys loved :)
That was my best suggestion that wasn't an old horror movie lol
I'm open to horror movie suggestions as well
Night of of the living dead is probably my first pick as far as public domain horror goes
A couple of excellent films that are unavailable elsewhere at the moment but are up on youtube:
'Shura' aka 'Demons' (1971)
'The Mattei Affair' (1972)
Are they foreign films? I would love to watch them except i only understand english and hindi, and my purpose is to watch something that's easy to follow while crocheting. It's a lil difficult to do if I have to follow subtitles.
Ah yeah, sorry, they are Japanese and Italian films with English subtitles. I should have put mire thought into it, given you're crocheting at the same time.
I'll still give them a go at a different time :)
You should try Come and See (1985) It's for sure the best movie I've ever seen and it's fully available on Youtube.
Hey thanks! Added it to my list :)
Warning, it's not a classic according to this sub, with Russian subtitles, and incredibly harrowing.
You mean it's a Russian film?
Sorry, yes, Russian film with English subtitles.
The Court Jester 1955 is available. Its got Danny Kaye
Super interesting! Added to my list :)
I saw this movie once as a kid in the 80s and never forgot it.
PBS American Experience has a bunch of historical docs up there. They function almost like a podcast with visual aids. I listen to them and Ken Burns docs on long road trips
That's something new I found out today, thanks! You probably mean ken burns right?

You have most of Satyajit Ray's films available on YouTube, including the Apu trilogy. Definitely a must watch if you're from India
I did try Pather Panchali but haven't watched the sequels.
Happiness!
Can you name the actor or director so it's easier to find?

Damn it just deleted my comment I’m not allowed to link YouTube videos but the director is Todd Solondz and the name of the video is “Happiness (1998) | comedy | drama | - full movie.
Darkest comedy I’ve ever seen, I was equal parts laughing my ass off and wanting to crawl out of my skin
Seven Keys to Baldpate. Might be "for" or something similar but rest is right. Great goofy mystery/romance/comedy from 1930s.
Added to my list, thanks!
Meet John Doe with Gary Cooper and Barbara Stanwyck. And it's a Christmas movie.
the irony is this sub won't let us link to Youtube videos.
Will definitely look it up, thanks!
No Time for Sergeants, excellent movie!
Is it the age of the movie you want, or that it's free? I ask because there are a number of newer movies that are free legally on youtube as well.
The channel CultCinemaClassics has hundreds of mostly older movies. I'm particularly fond of the charming 1939 animated Gulliver's Travels movie.
The Librarian: Quest for the Spear (2004) with Noah Wyle.
John Paul Jones (1959). Robert Stack, and a blink-and-you'll-miss-it scene with Bette Davis.
