Just need to vent not trying to offend.
I love public broadcasting. But the time slots and programming choices I really dont understand. Im not talking about the main channel with the staples like Nova/Nature and all the euro soap operas but the auxiliary ones.
All the good shows are in the day time. The cool cooking shows. Currently you have Edward Norton narrating a show about rail lines being transformed into bike lanes. Before this was a show about a guy mountaineering in South America. Interesting stuff that looks current that I would like to have a glass of wine and enjoy at night instead of being at work and not being able to watch these shows at all.
What we get at night is, sorry, but my opinion, not good at all. It always seems to be Crossroads or other music shows that look so old and dated. Or other shows that are just so damn boring and seem to fit that daytime demographic much better.
Sorry lol
If you can afford $5 monthly donations, you get PBS Passport and can access all content thru the app any time you please! Plus they need the support now more than ever
Highly vouch for this, the app is awesome and so worth the small fee
Also the PBS Kids Video and PBS Games (for kids) are great / no subscription required.
But yeah Passport is awesome.
Donate. If you are a donor, you get access to TPT Passport and lots of that programming to watch whenever you want.
I have the PBS passport so I can watch whatever whenever, but I moved here from an area with really quality local pbs content so I understand the disappointment
During pledge drives they always play 30 year old music shows or Susie Orman at night for some reason . I think because they can get money out of elderly people.
Yep, this. Nostalgia rakes in the bucks from the 60+ set.
Damn, they could get me to donate with a pop hits or the early 2000s.
One day they will…
I use to donate to OPB and have PBS Passport. And i get that you can stream anything you want.
There is something about having something interesting on that you dont choose though. If I sit down at 8pm to relax and this show with Edward Norton narrating is on Im going to watch it. If I have passport odds are im scrolling and who knows if i would even pick this show.
First world problem I know but Im a terrible scroller always looking for the best thing instead of just picking something.
I recommended OPB above, so I just want to agree and for you to know that you’re heard. With TPT, I often flip through all their channels and nothing fits my mood or the timeframe.
I know this feel.
Yep. With streaming, I actually watch less because of the paradox of choice. I hate that broadcast TV is slowly fading away.
Other states have public broadcasting too, when you want a different flavor, or you’d prefer to watch something else that’s public. I have been watching stuff on Oregon Public Broadcasting which has extremely high quality production and programming. The best one I saw lately was a group of indigenous teens who paddled the length of the Klamath River once dams were removed. It warmed my cold little heart. I don’t know about other states, or your interest level. Just thought I’d put it out there.
I actually do do this, I have the OBP app. Im from Portland so Oregon Public Broadcasting is my jam, sounds like you have found Oregon Field Guide with the Klamath River segment. Such a good show. Oregon Art Beat is great to
I’ve had a couple of times in my life where pbs has some totally random (to me) monotone narrated show about some flannel wearing person solo kayaking down the west coast from Canada and it SUCKS ME IN.
I haven't gotten TPT over the air for many years now. Used to be a regular watcher, too.
Did you move? Also, there was a moment where a lot of channels changed their frequency so you'd have to rescan from scratch to find them again. 2-1 is still 2-1, etc, but the frequency carrying it changed.
Nope.
The reception just kept getting more and more spotty. Now, I basically can't watch for more than a minute or two without losing the picture. It's unwatchable in my opinion.
Get an antenna. I find myself watching 2.2, etc because they show programming TPT wants to air, which is old stuff.
Television will be the death of this great nation.
Television is the least of our problems
The degradation of public television is representative of the Democratic party, elitists who are not in touch with mainstream Americans.
Well, this isn’t true.
Hey look, sock puppet account
