• If China takes Taiwan the global economy will collapse. Taiwan dominates semiconductor manufacturing. If that goes offline for a few months the knock on effect will be disastrous for the world economy.

What happens now is all on Trump, GOP and MAGA. They own this now.

Seriously. Anyone still supporting him has to just be braindead. It baffles me how they're all cheering for trump to hand the world to china while we collapse from within.

The Heritage Foundation doesn't really know what they want. They want isolationism, but then they want to control the world and its resources. Those two goals don't match.

Then add the tech bros and their stupid worker cities or whatever and it really doesn't match. I know they're all fighting each other rn. All of the end goals are so opposite of each other.

Yep, it's a quagmire of special interests controlling a fucking idot who has control of the best military in our planet's history thusfar, and about 30% of that military will kill anyone or destroy anything, including their own country, for said idiot.

Addendum, Art of War: "Hybrid Information Warfare, memetics, and public information security are vital to the security of the state, and must be studied."

May the best butt kisser win lol. When the house of cards somes crashing down, this will be epic.

If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes should fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

Actually both goals are achievable, but you'll have an empire with subjects, not a democracy with partners.

To make an empire you can't be isolationist.

This. And you can’t have fiefdoms and not deal with other leaders and nations. These people have to realize at some point that they live in a world with different people and they aren’t going anywhere. Who is gonna want to do business with a dumb ass tech bro knowing they gotta go through the damn Heritage Foundation? Hungary? Those people can’t run a country that’s why they want one that is already built.

How are people like you still like this? It's so much worse than some hypothetical potential future disaster. We are living the disaster right now. Fuck these chips or whatever, I'm up in the Great Lakes, Wisconsin specifically. I got out of the Guard a few years ago but due to my deployment with the fucking USCBP and getting pulled away from my job to do sec for the Inauguration after the attack on Jan 6 that we are all being told didn't happen "or else" basically... Do all of you really think everyone was as stupid as your average Fox viewing Guardsmen? Up here by the water, we were not and back then, you could divide the room pretty effectively with the mention of a certain vaccine requirement is all I'm gonna say.

Fuck Fascists. Fuck Putin. Fuck Russia. You can't have it.

Good luck to all the real ones. Don't trust any uniforms that don't deserve it.

Edit: Shit's not okay with the civilians up here. And it shouldn't be.

Edit1: I would have stayed in the Guard if not for it not being the best way to continue our service to our communities and the Constitutions of the great State of WI and the great Nation of the USA.

EditImportant: I've had more CANADIANS IN MY APARTMENT BY A FACTOR OF 4 THAN AMERICANS SINCE JANUARY 6 AS A PERSON THAT LIVES IN A STATE VERY NEAR A NON LOCAL STATE WITH UPSET LOCALS AND NOW MILITARY FORCES UNDER THREAT. OFFICERS TAKE NOTE. PLEASE. (NON CURRENT CANADIAN MILITARY CONTRACTS OR OFFICERS, PURELY CIVILIANS.)

Basically we're in uncharted what the fuck territory. Thanks MAGA. Can we please keep this shit like, not stupid, or are we gonna bomb Toronto and kick off a full on Balkan situation in the Great Lakes region for a fucking old as idiot that paints his face orange and talks about how hes the smartes person at nuclear ever and all the experts think his hands are really big, bigger than Anyone! in fact!

    What a fucking joke.

France, Canada, We're here in the Great Lakes. We're not all stupid.

I don’t understand this logic. Why? China already sells U.S. everything from cheap toys and electronics to high end magnets needed in our missiles. Why would China taking Taiwan mean that China stops selling to us?

Not talking about general electronics but semiconductors specifically. Very difficult to replicate that manufacturing process. We tried to start competing with the CHIPS Act but still have a long way to go.

The Tawainese clearly said that they would destroy the factories rather than letting them fall in Chinese hands.

A naval blockade. Control the flow, and save the infrastructure.

It won't matter. The factories already have explosives built into them. A true blockade will also trigger a war as it's an act of war.

This is posturing, and wishful thinking.

If Taiwan is occupied and comes under full PRC control, why would the Taiwanese destroy their FABs?

Taiwanese businesses & engineers would do their best to live under PRC rule. It would be a matter of survival. What would they gain by blowing up one of the few things that Beijing cares -- and needs?

China wants to conquer Taiwan for ideological and historical reasons, not because of the chip factories. Therefore, they would still take the island whatever the outcomes. Yet, this is exactly because China would very much like to have the added bonus of these factories that Taiwanese will sabotage them. Ever heard of the "scorched earth" strategy ?

    Edit : typos

Have you spoken with any Taiwanese people?

Generally speaking they dislike PRC -- but if you think they are old line anti-communist Kuomintang ideologues who will burn down Taiwan to the ground over PRC takeover, you are mistaken.

Especially if they conclude that US won't have their back when push comes to shove.

I have, actually. And they agreed with that POV. It's not about being an old line anti-communist. It's about seeing the bigger picture, with the PRC being slightly behind in chip technology.

It's not about burning Taiwan to the ground but about the surgical denial of capacities to the PRC. I personally think it's the smart thing to do.

    Well, I think there's a lot of wishful thinking on the US side . . . .

The Taiwanese can (and will) of course publicly threaten to burn down their fabs before PRC takes over them -- this creates deterrence. But it's illogical to think they will carry out such threat if an invasion actually happens, and PRC emerges in full, undisputed control of the island ( ... and especially so if US was perceived as not fully committed to the defense of Taiwan).

But more importantly, if Taiwan falls, Beijing will get its hands on a large number of semiconductor chip engineers and tech staff. This is the more important bottleneck that the US is overlooking.

ASML litho machines can be purchased or replaced, and fabs can be re-built elsewhere; but US won't go anywhere without the skilled personnel (and their know-how).

First of all, I'm not "on the US side". Not American here. Do not presume I see things through their lenses.

There are several factors you forget.

It's not only about the US anymore. Japan and South Korea also have a vested interest in Taiwan staying free. Especially Japan. I don't think they will stay completely idle.

I would counter that it's illogical to think Taiwan wouldn't want to deny their invader as many strategic capacities as possible in the long run. There are multiple examples in history that show how people and specifically their government are willing to sacrifice strategic assets if they feel like they are losing ground.

And you seem to assume the technical staff will just wait to be captured by the PRC. Most likely they will either be exfiltrated or flee the country either before the invasion or while the invasion is occurring.

First of all, I'm not "on the US side". Not American here. Do not presume I see things through their lenses.

I wasn't implying you were American -- I mentioned US because it's the only country with a dog in the hunt. Let's be frank, the EU has neither interest nor capability to challenge PRC over Taiwan.

Japan and South Korea also have a vested interest in Taiwan staying free. Especially Japan. I don't think they will stay completely idle.

    (1) Would Japan go to war vs. China over Taiwan, if US is vacillating? I doubt it. So it comes down to what this (US) administration does about Taiwan.

    (2) Korea has to worry about its crazy small northern neighbor with nukes (DPRK); and its very large superpower next door with nukes (PRC) that won't disappear any time soon. And mind you, Samsung and TSMC are competitors (although TSMC is ahead on logic chips/cpus).

And you seem to assume the technical staff will just wait to be captured by the PRC. Most likely they will either be exfiltrated or flee the country either before the invasion or while the invasion is occurring.

An orderly exit like Saigon '75? Or Afghanistan '21?

That's why planning is crucial -- but I am skeptical anything will be done.

There are 2 main things you are missing, most of the actual R&D / the most highly qualified engineers are all Americans. Yes Taiwan has the largest number of technicians and mid grade engineers so that is a huge issue, but for advancement you still need the highly qualified ones.

The second is that the number of machines that ASML can make is extremely small, the EUV they currently make around 50 per year and say that they can't come close to doubling that number any time soon, the DUV is under 500. Companies buy them out years in advance... Hell last year Intel bought every EUV machine they made.

Also all of the machines have remote self destruct. The 1st is software based, if it doesn't get an all clear signal within X timeframe the second stage actually pushes current through the most sensitive parts and causes them to melt. The 3rs failsafe was always the USAF but I don't know if that can be relied on anymore.

There are 2 main things you are missing, most of the actual R&D / the most highly qualified engineers are all Americans. Yes Taiwan has the largest number of technicians and mid grade engineers so that is a huge issue, but for advancement you still need the highly qualified ones.

Sorry, but I have to disagree.

This is the kind of logic that seriously damaged US manufacturing, and allowed PRC to grow its industrial base.... i.e., thinking that "US can just do the high level design, and all the manufacturing/assembly work can be outsourced to PRC [or Taiwan, or fill-in-the-blank] -- they will never catch up."

There are lots of skills embodied in manufacturing, and "making stuff day-in day-out" can be a serious source of innovation over the medium and long term.

Keep in mind that TSMC started out as a "low level" fab, after US merrily shut down all their domestic fabs. Today, Intel is desperately playing catch up to TSMC on the advanced node chips.

The (sad) reality is that even if US magically teleported TSMC fabs & ASML litho machines to Arizona today, it would not have the skilled personnel to run them.

    That’s doubtful.

ASML and TSMC both have the ability to remotely disable the foundries. From what I have heard the soft disable basically is a software lockout which would happen the minute China starts the attack. There is also a secondary that would physically melt the most sensitive parts of it which I also heard is basically on a dead man's switch (if no all clear within X time it auto does it).

On top of that the US said that it would destroy the foundries via kinetic attack if China was able to physically access them (if they take over a plant).

China getting their hands on this tech would be horrible, not only because China would reverse engineer them and flood the market with sub standard chips, but also because of the military implications.

Prior to the AI boom when the US cut off the supply of the chips to China under the guise of it being needed to stop them from reverse engineering the chips (which was never really a worry) it was to make sure China could not source and use them for their advanced weapons. China was between 15-30 yrs behind the west in the knowledge and tech required to catch up to where we were then. 3yrs or so after the ban (and China starting to develop their own) they made up about 4yrs while we went ahead by 3 (so a 1yr gain). As of last year they still can't make 7nm chips at scale and what they have made is not up to standard, requires them to import almost all of the base parts, and most of the time either dont work at all or fail within hrs.

China has made claims theY can make 1nm chips, but won't let anyone actually see the POC under a scope nor let anyone use it...

The west is currently standardized on 3nm, which at the rate China has gone means to catch up to where the west is today will take them another 15-20yrs on their own

You guys are all wrong. Chinas aim to reunify with Taiwan predates Taiwan being a semi conductor hub. It has been their objectives since the Chinese civil war after WWII where the KMT government fled the mainland to take refuge in Taiwan. So semiconductor has nothing to do with reunification for the mainland . It’s like saying North and South Korea might want reunification because the South has a high tech industry . lol or that north Vietnam wanted to reunification with the US occupied South Vietnam because of western products or relative well being of the south back then lol. Sometimes we have to understand that others have values and sovereignty goals than trumps material things . East Germany and west Germany didn’t push for reunification with West Germany only because of material things. There is also a sense of the country coming back together as one nation, it trumps any high tech goods/products or even political system. So before making predictions you guys should understand the value of reunification Taiwan holds for the manalnd . It’s the only thing China will disregard any consequences to go for a full scale war if they believe the US or Taiwan want to make Taiwan independent officially . So it’s either we get ready for a full scale long term hot war with a near peer China and all the consequences that involves for the world or we stay away. That’s the only 2 options. if we are not ready to pay the full price for such a war, Since the Chinese will be far more determined than we will be, then we shouldn’t get involved. After-all, just like Ukraine to us it’s a foreign affair that doesn’t have any real bearing on our territory . But to the Chinese it’s a core issue just like Ukraine is a core issue for Russia and they are willing to pay any price for that . I’m not ready to risk my future and that of my kids well being for a foreign country the other side of our continent . So I’m not against Trumps idea. We should focus more on securing fully the americas , so our move against Venezuela is a good start. We should get rid of all leadership in our region who are against our interests and against our national security (like Cuba, Columbia etc). The rest of the world can take care of themselves

One should not overlook the fact that there's a lot of value in TSMC's know-how.

If PRC captures Taiwan, it will also capture thousands of skilled engineers and engineering staff.

It's extremely naive to assume that PRC won't be able to coerce, cajole, bribe & reward enough of them to assist with China's chip devt. efforts.

US should be making plans for rapid evacuation of skilled Taiwanese engineers, and provide them with special visas in advance . . .

. . . so that PRC understands that in case of an invasion, they won't be getting any hard OR soft assets.

If they invade the Taiwanese will defend themselves. It will be bloody. A war zone. All chip manufacturing will stop or the foundry's damaged. That mean chip production stops. 90% off the advanced chips for AI and other tech comes from there. So the knock on affects are massive. That means no no cars off production lines, no new PCs, no new advanced gadgets. All that stops.

The Chinese can weather such a collapse, it's already a police state and they will be full of patriotism that they will accept a hard few years.

The west on the other hand won't, especially the US.

In short, it will be one way to burst the AI bubble? 🤔😭

If the global economy collapses, it will indeed also bring AI with it. Yes the ”AI slop” will go away buy its a bit of a blunt tool when we can’t afford payments on our housing, isn’t it?

    It would be even worse.

The AI boom would continue, but w/ PRC with an upper hand in terms of access to state-of-the-art chip fabrication facilities & know how.

That stuff we could still get at higher prices from a ton of sources. Semiconductors and manufactured in a much much smaller geographic region and the ability to spin up competition in both production and R&D in other countries would take many years. China would have the market by the balls if it took Taiwan (at least that all is my understanding)

Google/ask AI what kind of measures China takes when its government is in tantrum mode. They are well known for imposing bans on export.

Right now with the two biggest countries trying to dominate the AI sector? Gee, I wonder why that could be?

Here's the thing about technology, and AI specifically: it does not advance linearly but rather exponentially. The more rampant progress you can make in the beginning the faster and further you will pull ahead. If China controls what is essentially the world's supply of semiconductors--which are important in virtually every electronic--do you really think they are going to freely give us the same access we had before? Right now we are in the early years of AI and companies are pouring vast amounts of money into it, but more than that whoever wins the race will be the dominant force. If China can take control of Taiwan we will lose our headstart and simultaneously struggle to keep pace with our current rate of progress. So yes, they will have very little reason to keep the status quo we are currently enjoying.

Taiwan has already said they will destroy the wafer fab plants rather than let China get control of them. That would take the world at least a decade, probably more, to recover from.

Even if it's just a blockade, those chips would be removed from the world market until it's over. Think about what COVID did. Multiply that by about 100. That's what a blockade would do.

I don't think China can take over Taiwan. But I have no doubt that the ensuing damage would fuck up the world economy for many years.

    [deleted]

What isn't clear? When we launch out a missile, sometimes they ignore GPS and want to look at the sky. Hence, "out missiles." This is where the magnet comes into play. Gotta bring them back and retrain them.

That’s why mainland China is trying the best to build a capable semiconductor industry.

They are still years behind because Biden banned US chip component manufacturers exporting their tech to China.

lol the Chinese civil war been going on for almost a century. You think China can’t wait for couple more years ?

Oh I know well they will eventually overtake the US.

All of this was and is a delay tactic.

But according to this new doctrine Trump doesn't care, he is only interested in the western hemisphere.

It would be like going full belly up on any competition.

It is on him because he is the President, not because of the click-baity title of this post.

Half the world shut down and went virtual overnight and the economy shook that off.  The economy is probably more resilient than you expect.

You think Covid didnt affect the economy negatively for the vast majority? Are you living in reality?

It certainly had an impact but in general the economy had boomed. Given how unusual and impactful it was, the economic impact was shockingly small.

the economy boomed. Yeah ok bud. Did they also spare Harambe in your timeline too?

Bro is from the timeline where Covid ended in two weeks because everyone actually worked together to quarantine

The Covid knock on impact is why we had record inflation and supply chain issues that Biden was able to soft land…

Absolutely.  But given how unprecedented and insane the change was there wasn't some major collapse or even real recession (technically a recession but like the shortest in us history).

What reality are you living in? That waa largely coordinated process that all countries got on board with a virus that we can't control. And it still wasn't enough to shake off the consequences. 8 million people lost their jobs and the gov printed money like it was confetti. This has lead to huge inflation. Most people are struggling to get by, house prices skyrocketed after the pandemic.

War on the other hand is neither coordinated or controlled.

Your looking at a 10% cut to global GDP.

Yes there were impacts, but it's hard to look at economic data in the past decade and think it was close the the impact you'd expect basically changing much of the world economy overnight.  In general I think we underestimate economic resilience.  People are smart and adapt.

  • He's willing to trade the epicenter of chip manufacturing for oil. He wants to kill renewable energy and let China take that future world mantle too.

He would love to destroy Biden's CHIPS act, which was a much more intelligent way than blanket tariffs, to bring high tech manufacturing to the US and to keep China from passing us by.

I can't recall the US ever ceding power so easily, with no sovereign payoff in return, or weakly rolling over for China on so many fronts.

    No wonder he bankrupted casinos.

I’ve been saying this for a long time, Howard Lutnick and Peter Thiel have been planning an era of isolationism for the U.S. through globalization in a scale that’s encompasses just the western hemisphere with the UK and Israel being it life line to the rest of the world. They want to turn the U.S. backwards into a manufacturing country focused on labor.

It’s why the dept of education transferred k-12 funding and curriculum over to the dept of labor stating what should be taught in schools should mirror the needs of the society and manufacturing jobs.

It’s why one of the many EO’s signed is the April 9th sunset order that removes all regulations and protections from all federal lands including the national parks and Native American lands

It’s why we are going after oil, it’s why we are partnering with Canadian companies for oil transport. It’s why we applied tariffs to China to force their regulators to approve the Panama Canal deal.

It’s why Palantir is expanding in the UK and NATO, it’s why Oracle is building Israel a 2nd underground data center underneath Jerusalem since the 1st one worked out so well. It’s why NVIDIA is building a 22 acre facility in Israel.

It’s why we are still funding along with the UAE the forces against the ones funded by China and Russia in Sudan. It’s why UAE and Qatar are finally making military deals with Israel in opposition of the Saudis. It’s why the UAE/Japan’s SoftBank are investing in data centers here with Oracle.

Heck it’s why Oracle is building a data center underneath the treasury tunnels which are under the future ballroom. It’s why the new architect for it is the same guy the government hired to rebuild the pentagon after 9/11. Same construction companies that work on data centers and modular rooms/flatpack rooms.

Edit: it’s why he is talking about Greenland for future transport routes and possible resources

The goal is to make us a manufacturing hub like china’s population, it’s why we went for Venezuela. Their sour crude is best for making plastics and that’s to eventually replace our reliance on China for plastics.

Isolationism in USA helps Russian globalism. Whatever Trump does is what is being dictated by Russia.

Just an example, years ago Trump was against wind farms. Why? Because Russia needs to sell petrol for enery.

No it doesn’t help Russia because Russia is still Russia. Idk why people keep saying that it doesn’t help them. They will be the same aggressive nation that no one wants to deal with. They are not going to all of a sudden stop being themselves.

What it does is resolve the Cold War conflict of destroying us and that’s it. This doesn’t “help” Russia’s position in the world at all.

You are thinking too short term. Russia stopped pulling trumps strings back in 2022/2023

I see that Trump want to take over a NATO country today. It helps Russia. It doesn't help the USA.

It does help the U.S. tbh and it does help the folks who have been bankrolling Vance since he was in law school (Thiel). Access to the Artic and those resources would help it just would rip apart alliances that Howard Lutnick/Thiel/Ellison have convinced Starmer aren’t necessary

It won't help because Europeans are going to buy less American products. I have already stopped going to McDonalds. And I've cut my Coca Cola consumption to half. I did not subscribe for YouTube this time. For the last one year I did not buy any Americsn shoes.

You are responding but I don’t think you read what I wrote initially. The goal is to make us a manufacturing hub like china’s population, it’s why we went for Venezuela. Their sour crude is best for making plastics and that’s to eventually replace our reliance on China for plastics.

Makes no sense. No one will buy our shit if this happens, and locals won't be able to afford it.

Factories are not going to come here either. They aren’t going to come here deal with this wacky government when they have a choice of other places. These billionaires are not going to move their factories back here. I fail to see how we become this manufacturing giant. Sounds like some white supremacist bull. Like someone sat around after dinner at the country club with the boys and said, “we should take China’s place!” That’s how stupid these people are they’d rather be no 2 than no 1. But their plans in reality are gonna take us off the list.

Look at the new era of defense contractors, Trump is already criticizing the older ones like Raytheon. It’s the surveillance state that they want.

if we go that far back we won't survive the 21st century. We'll be a 3rd world country.

They publicly talk about turning us backwards so that we are easily controlled

We'll end up like Russia. Most major population areas will be OK, rural areas will be shit holes. Not Russia level shitholes, but shitholes none the less.

That process started decades ago, btw.

And that's why they voted for Trump. They know they're being left behind and nobody cares. Unfortunately, they think Trump and the GOP are their saviors, which they aren't. Neither are the Democrats, although they at least kinda try to cushion the fall and prevent the worst outcomes.

Ok...but why? Whats the end goal?

Literally the first few sentences of my comment…

Yes, but why? Why do they want isolationism?

Howard Lutnick is a dumbass, his company was headquartered at downtown Manhattan when 9/11 happened. Don’t feel bad for him cause the day after he stopped pay on for all the families of the employees that died that day. There is more but he thinks if we just stay in this hemisphere then we can avoid enemies.

Thiel is a whole another animal and dumber in many ways but insanely lucky because he was at the right place at the right time to become rich. I’ll make a note of your comment and explain Thiel tomorrow. I gotta get some sleep, gotta be up in 5 hrs.

    Ok bb. Sweet dreams 😘

Howard as part of his delusion that the U.S. can get out of the world’s ongoing in the middle to late 2010’s started to fund and work with the heritage foundation at which at the end of trumps 1st term the piece of shit Vought was made head of office of budget and management where he got a rough idea of the framework of the government and came up with project 2025.

    https://project2025.observer/en

    https://www.realtimefascism.com/

They have been well organized since 2009-2010 when the heritage foundation/sinclair/koch/federalist society all started coordinating getting one message across to their base.

You are losing your identity, if you want to keep it then just do one simple thing, vote red no matter what. Vote red in local/county/council/board/distrcit/township/city/state/federal elections (I don’t know what the elections are called when folks vote for judges/law enforcement and certain administrative positions in the local level).

The base did that and they saw results, they were told we will take away the identity of the libs so they don’t take away your identity.

It worked, the federalist society vetted people for judicial positions and running for office. Koch and a few other groups funded them. Heritage foundation gave them a guide book on what to say and do and Sinclair media group spread that message throughout the South

Things a Russian asset would do, no?

I called it earlier this week. I am not even the least bit surprised to see him say this.

Sorry to say that the truth is a bit more insane than the headline.

The gist of this interview is that Trump says "I had legitimate cause to kidnap Maduro, Xi does not have legitimate cause to kidnap President Ching-te and Putin does not have legitimate cause to kidnap Zelensky."

So, instead of "oh let them take what they want" it actually goes:

"If I do it, it is good. If anyone else does it, it is bad"

He's willing to trade the epicenter of chip manufacturing for oil.

Well, USN is bringing back 'battleships' over carriers and subs . . . so the timeline checks out . . . .

    😉

  • It's over, there is absolutely ZERO chance china doesn't invade Taiwan before his term ends now.

They'll probably co-ordinate and attack Greenland and Taiwan at the same time for maximum disruption

All the billions Invested by TSMC recently on the US for NOTHING. Taiwan should cut off the US immediately for chips.

I mean, China will have the chips now. We will be doomed in Ten years if not faster. But out Christian white utopia will thrive….. like Russia

Those foundries are set to be destroyed the moment China invades.

Probably not the moment they invade, but certainly before they reach the point of "oh shit we're gonna lose".

Ya, your probably right but I would assume those would be a high priority target.

They would be but... you gotta get to them first. And you have to keep the force that reaches them supported first until the main force secures the area.

Destroy individually if they are going to be captured? That makes sense.

What would really interest me are Taiwan's "oh shit they're really gonna do it" plans. Because the world will see an invasion coming weeks to months ahead of time. Do you evacuate critical people? Hide or evacuate specialized equipment?

We all just have to hope China isn't actually stupid enough to try. And I don't have confidence that they are.

china seems pretty committed to institutional capture of taiwan

This, I think folks catastrophizing about a military invasion of Taiwan are uninformed. China sees Taiwanese folks as wayward Chinese people. They're more likely to try and influence internal politics to get to "peaceful reunification".

I’ve said this before, the only way China launches an invasion of Taiwan is if the US abandons its One China policy. They have been pretty much getting everything they wanted for the last few years. Their MO is pretty much just trading with everyone and flexing once in a while to gain influence. They aren’t gonna throw everything away using their untested military on this. Their government thinks long term and isn’t stupid.

  • Congratulations to China and Russia on winning the information wars.

Russia won the moment they got Trump elected twice

  • Taiwan should give Trump a large shiny medal. That should change his mind.

A gold one with the words peace prize on it.

  • So… he wants a literal 1984?

HE doesn't want anything. HE can barely stay awake. Look at it this way, is the wife of Ace of Spades Stephen Miller tweeting out who we are going to conquer next with our new "might is right" shit that all they had to do was throw donnies name on "Donroe Doctrine" and, just like his buildings, he's fine if others run it as long as HIS name is on it.

Y'all gotta orient on your States and communities and make an effort to bridge the gaps with the local law enforcement, it's going to be crucial for our communities. Trust me, local cops don't fucking like most of this shit either, they see how it's gonna fuck up their cushy gig.

edit: And tbh, at least up here in the polite part of the country, local cops, are not the enemies here at all. At least here, outside of one particular city (For us "locals" it's Milwaukee. The Milwaukee cops don't want to be community players with soldiers. is what it is.),outside of that though, local cops are actually pretty decent community oriented folks as far as we can tell, and understand the benefit of keeping their apples nice and shiny these days.

Anyone who selectively plays “see no evil” is a part of the problem.

But, yeah, this is almost certainly Trump’s foreign and domestic handlers at work maneuvering him—dude is building a ballroom when what he really needs is hospice.

Not trying to play selective "see no evil" We see the evil. We just understand the new weapons. So do you. Good luck.

Heck we even updated the bulliten to more align with more regionally aligned partnerships.

  • We have become such a shitty ally.

Israel still finds the US very dependable so make of that what you want.

We do not have any Allies anymore, I'm afraid. How Are Americans this fucking dense?

  • thanks americans for completely fucking the world - the world

  • Fucking clueless idiot, China will rule the world for decades if they get their hands on TSMC. Baron needs to tell him "everything is computer now!"

If you don’t think TSMC will just self destruct their facilities if China is genuinely close to seizing them then you haven’t been paying attention lol

Yeah, I've had the same thought. I truly hope their facility is rigged to blow. Better to set us all back 40 years then let China decide who gets silicon and who doesn't.

Don't need to blow them to ground. Chip making is very sensitive. All they have to do is breach the containments on the clean rooms and I don't know smash the fabricator machinery with hammer couple times. It's rendered permanently useless. All machinery surfaces contaminated, cleean rooms contaminated.

I guess they could throw a single hand grenade in each clean room, that would be enough to contaminate and render permanently useless pretty much all machinery in that room.

And will the operators actually do that, knowing that the famously-humanitarian CCP will hold them responsible and there will be zero hope of US help, rescue, or revenge?

It doesnt need to be the company. Doesnt take long for taiwanese military to send a group of infantry to each facility, show their guns at the facility staff, tell them to get heck out of the way and heck out, walk to clean room (breaking all clean protocols) and chuck a hand grenades and some satchel into the machinery once all staff has left at gun point.

These would be the soldiers who are anyway facing death and torture at hands of PLA anyway. They have no qualms to go sabotage the chip fab. No different than many other similar military tasks and missions like blowing up ones own bridge to slow down the enemy or to damage hydro damn upon  retreating to deny it's power generation to enemy.

So who says TSMC has any say in this to begin with. It's a national security matter, not a business decision. Such threat being real and credible and actually carried out is deterrence to attack. I'm sure plans are in place at Taiwan military and frankly they kinda want the existence of such plans really existing (though not too much detail) leaking to PLA intelligence division as a warning. PLAs agent finding the (leaked) actual existence of plans is way more credible, than any public statement by taiwanese officials.

Asml has kill switch and TSMC had said they will destroy the machines. I think baseball bats and buckets of sand will go a long way.

Hell dust alone will do the job

If the US completely reneges on helping Taiwan, then TSMC self-destructing would basically require its operators to fully commit to killing themselves and their families in PRC reprisals for no other reason than spite.

If? We have. Don't look for trump of all people to help Taiwan. He's gonna sit his goofy ass right there at that desk and try to stay awake.

There are no guardrails or establishment momentum. Our current situation is very much that Trump and especially his immediate cabinet of advisers, ARE THE STATE.

Yeah, the US always had the real self destruct plan, but I genuinely don't think we have the shit in position anymore and everyone in the situation room, I mean, the Florida curtain fort I guess, don't have the slightest clue at all about why it would need to go that way.

I think they’d be at that point regardless if the PRC is knocking at the door. Well or fight..

Hard disagree, research how Beijing effectively pacified resistance in Hong Kong.

  • WTF... So he just gives them permission essentially.

    Wooooow...

My guess is China paid to Trump.

  • Huge win for China

  • I think everyone sees the writing on the wall, even before this. China is going to take Taiwan, it’s just a matter of when. Last I read experts were saying there’s a likely timetable of 2027, I think.

Better to do it sooner rather than later. Unless Trump gives every American 1million dollars and a house free of charge, then I dont see a path forward for the GOP to win a election for quite some time after this. Beijing knows that Trump wont assist Taiwan, but every democrat and some hardline neocons will. So beating the next administration to it is imperative.

So yes, between now and 2027 it could happen. Beijing also must be cognizant of Trumps health and age. If Vance ever gets the promotion, he definitely going to do silicon valleys bidding, and Taiwans chips and tech are instrumental to their plans.

Trumps GOP has me voting solid blue for life. Don’t care.

Yep. Never been a D voter until trump showed up on the scene. And until 2020 still wasnt straight ticket. But now? If you ever supported this fucking clown, you can’t eat my ass. Never fucking again. The GOP is scum

Yes, but we are extremely capable of stopping them if we actually commit to it.

Sure but we aren’t going to.

When China moves on Taiwan, you guys won't be able to stop it, the balance of power is shifting towards China rapidly, it is better to avoid the risk of losing a war against China in the WESTPAC and losing all prestige than just try to save its face.

The US as it stands now "could" stop it. But the US won't under Trump.

like Vietnam? planning to napalm some Chinese children while getting BTFO?

  • This is one of those times where the deliberately clickbaity headline is actually better than the article it tries to clickbait.

This motherfucker is going "When I do it, it is justified, but when others do it, it isn't, I totally didn't set a precedent" and somehow, he has managed to make me even more mad than the headline would have.

  • Traitor in Chief

  • Direct quote:

"He considers it to be a part of China, and that's up to him what he's going to be doing. But I've expressed to him that I would be very unhappy if he did that, and I don't think he'll do that."

  • Ain't no treachery like trumpian treachery

  • Taiwan needs to finish their nuclear program now. It's the only way to be safe.

  • Bub wants nothing more than to lord over the western hemisphere while Putin and Xi divide the rest of the world between themselves

  • And they used to say before the 2024 election:
"Beijing Biden!!! But Trump will contain the see see peeh!!!"

  • If anyone bothered to hear the rest of the clip, he makes what is clearly a veiled threat implying he’d personally make it a bad idea for China to invade “maybe he’d do it when we get another president in”

  • I’d invent a time machine just so I could tell Korea-era Douglas MacArthur that a New York developer & tv personality is actually the US president and just announced that Taiwan’s fate is in the hands of the Reds.

  • President Trump said that his actions in Venezuela did not set a precedent for other countries like Russia and China because he claimed he was responding to a “real threat.” - per the article

In the same video Trump also said "I hope he doesn't do it" "I'll be very unhappy if he does it" and "he might do it with a different President."

Out of context the title makes it seem like he's encouraging Xi, which he is not.

  • I think that’s just saving himself from answering for the military sales and response.

  • It goes on to say “But he added that he had told the Chinese leader he would be “very unhappy” with any move against the island. “ he’s saying the ball is in Xi’s court . Not that Xi is free to do whatever he wants. Clickbait. Plenty of real stuff Trump does to be upset about .

  • Could read the actual transcript…

“But I’ve expressed to him that I would be very unhappy if he did that, and I don’t think he’ll do that. I hope he doesn’t do that.” “So you don’t think you’ve set a precedent in other countries?” “He may do it after we have a different president, but I don’t think he’s going to do it with me as president.”

  • Lmfao. This dude has become the mad king.

  • Is Trump is a traitor to America? To the Founding Fathers' ideals they had in mind when creating the structure and systems with balancing powers, duties, responsibilities split between Congress, the courts, and president/administration? The laws and regulations formed to give us rights while restricting dictatorial aspirations? He is certainly a hero to certain corporations and wealthy groups/individuals, and of course, in his own mind's eye. I'm beginning to wonder about my trust in the value of the oath to protect the constitution while we watch what has been unfolding under this administration with little effective pushback. Promises broken, treaties dismissed, alliances crushed, threats made, attacks made, evidence non-existent or disappeared. What was fought for is rapidly eroding. Mussolini and Hitler would be pleased. My uncle fought through Italy all the way into Germany. My dad "captained" an LCT, ready to invade Japan. They knew who the fascists were. I guess you'd have called them Antifa. I think they'd recognize Trump for what he is and the damage he is doing to our nation.

  • It won't happen

  • Quid pro quo. Russia can take Ukraine, China can take Taiwan and America can take western hemisphere. Trump is dividing the world amongst the crime families. Because everyone knows that authoritarian rule and corruption is what made America great. It’s amazing to the sane world that Trump has gotten to the highest office being such a piece of shit. DOJ could have taken him down decades before he ran for office for crimes but somewhere along the way he must have greased the palms of someone influential. Perhaps we’ll get to see the photo of Trump blowing Bubba. That’s not a good look for the country’s “Alpha Male”. Weak pathetic man-child.

  • 草泥马一群虚伪恶心的唇笔剑冢,挠子被购机吧草栏了

  • It doesn't matter if its him or another president, when China decides to move Against Taiwan there isn't much that the US can do, even if they to form some coalition(that is likely to fail).

  • Dividing the world into hemispheres….
