My question is how much Disney saved in the dvd era onwards of removing the song from that point on?

  • So they replaced it with Winning It All right? I don't really understand that since that's still a licensed song. And We Are The Champions still plays at the end of the second movie as far as I'm aware

Never even finished the 2nd one- they didn’t replace the song- just instrumental

I did buy it recently on prime video streaming- ff to that scene- if I remember correctly I encountered no lyrics

Yep just instrumental- what a crock

Had seen the first one a bunch of times as a kid- never saw 2nd or 3rd—- it was up there with sandlot in my book…. But hadn’t seen it until 2025- I’m like wtf?!

  • The first ever printing of the DVD still had Queen. I own it and it does.

How many copies are u aware of?

I’m really curious when Mickey said we need to save money- as soon as the 2nd batch?

    I think and I’m speculating….

Disney had the rights to it for theatrical and VHS. They did not have it for the Disney Channel version. I distinctly remember watching it on Disney Channel in the mid 90s and being mad it wasn’t there.

I think Disney took the commercial VHS and thought it auto-applied to DVD and as DVD became the rage in early 00s, they had to renegotiate a lot of deals and that was one they couldn’t make happen.

Not mentioned: Hollywood Records, Disney’s record label, held the distribution rights to Queen’s library in North and South America, or at least North America.

  • i need to check what version my laser disc plays

    lol definitely

  • The VHS had We Are the Champions, but if you watched the movie on The Disney Channel it used Winning It All, which honestly I kind of like better for that scene.

We are the champions I blast anytime my team wins it all- and that idea was given from this flick

VHS for me ——anything substituted booo! I hadn’t seen it since that era… I’m curious how much Disney saved from the dvd era onwards

  • I read somewhere that apparently we are the champions/ we will rock you was used for the UK version (LA too) and the regular ducks song for the American version.
