During a mental health crisis, I was discharged to the waiting area at Odessa Regional Medical Center despite being in psychosis and hearing voices. This led to my false arrest - charges later dismissed, but the damage was done.

I started a petition asking ORMC to improve their ER protocols for mental health crises. We need mandatory training for staff, specialized crisis teams, and clear procedures so no one else goes through what I experienced.

This isn't just about me - it's about protecting anyone who might need mental health care in Odessa. Have you or someone you know struggled to get proper mental health treatment during a crisis? If this matters to you too, consider signing and sharing.

  • Im a RN in the area- I do not work for ORMC but another hospital. I have seen first hand the inability to treat and the uncertainties of staff. I agree, we need better protocols and training. The good news is, MCH and Midland Memorial have come together to build a 200+ psychiatric hospital in the area. This will help the hospitals be able to transfer patients who are in need of psychiatric care that we do not provide.

I am glad you charges were dropped, and I am sorry you had the experience you did.

  • Yes Permian behavior health opens in April 2026 and thanks
