So in the otomeisekai/webtoon community, “ML” means “Male Lead” referring to the male main character in the romance and “SML” means “Second Male Lead” referring to the competing man in the romance who ultimately fails in his romantic endeavor in the narrative.
I’m actually a top member of the OI sub so was deeply amused by this post.
Thank you, i know nothing about the OI stuff and would never have figured that out on my own. I found most of the post baffling because of not knowing what many of the key words referred to.
I feel like this is a teenager with English as a second language, and not super malicious IMO.
It feels like the dude read the work, doesn't know anyone who reads Manhua/Chinese webcomics, and is like lost why everyone else likes one character more and he's kinda right if you're a guy reader of it, you're in the minority, so that's already a kind of feeling of being lost in fandom discussions.
Also, shout out to the guy continuing to read romance manhuas for fun, that's actually not a bad thing. Dude is reading stuff that's still kinda mocked when gals read it, and seen as uber feminine when you're a guy reading it too, (which, as a fan of SVSS, and Demonic Cultivator, not knocking it),
Like I said, sometimes people are young, clumsy and trying to voice confusion against fandom norms.
My mistake, wasn't aware there's a difference. My point still stands. This hardly comes off as like malicious.
I don't see how lambasting a guy for being clumsy about how he expresses his fandom views helps. I'd rather have 90 clumsy guys in fandom trying to understand the appeal, than 90 guys making fun of webcomics as girly/only for women/never trying to read them.
An illiterate incel, who would have guessed
i saw the original post, its not an incel, he immediately and politely accepted criticism on the matter and said he will do better
Okay that’s quite reasonable then
Not everyone is privileged to have a good education bro
Surprised you weren’t pissy I called them an incel, given your other interactions here and elsewhere
Crikey 😬 that's a lot.
There's also another one, not highlighted, on the bottom of the 3rd slide "why do most females love..."
Ugh ...so many wrongness
I’ll admit I was speed-reading when highlighting because my brain couldn’t take it
I couldn't read it all either.
What is a "ml" and an "sml"? ("Why do most female like a dark mysterious ml over a warm hearted kind loving sml...")

Yeah upon reread if you don’t know the acronyms it’s kind of hilarious. Like when I stumble upon a niche pop culture chat post 😅
These are the same guys who like manic pixie dream girls who randomly dissappear and break their hearts and see no problems with those tropes lol
Where's the dark

This is about manhwa/Korean webcomics, not manhua/Chinese webcomics, lol, not sure how you missed that.
