  • I like how we're just only showing the bottom of keyboards now.

You know, the part you never see or interact with. lol

No link to how it sounds either. A link to a twitch stream.... Just based off the back, I wouldn't buy it. The GB is starting today and no price. Am I crazy?

Group buys are by far the most stupid part of this hobby so hopefully this is another nail in the coffin for them

Yeah, after a few miserable experiences with them, I just won't do it anymore. Just release your product, and I'll decide if I want to buy it or not.

Right. Like....any remotely relevant information on it would have been nice before asking people to buy in.

And, the group buy starts Today/Tomorrow. For something as big as the Tofu reboot, you'd think they'd send 5 out to different reviewers, or just ship one to each vendor.

Alex did stream the Tofu and you can clearly see prices on the website?

Yeah I found the video. The sound profile with those switches is good, but he's going a bit fast on the test. $140? Wasn't the original Tofu 99? It still seems like kind of small fanfare for the Tofu though. Surprised there aren't 10 different videos.

What do you want them to do? Hit it like a tuning fork and hear how it rings?

Are you joking? Sound profile is one of the most basic things for group buy custom mechs. They always make videos of prototypes and do sound tests. Did this stop happening or something? Are renders of back all people need now?

are you not familiar with keyboard sound tests.

I am, but I’m also taking the piss how someone wouldn’t buy a case nowadays without hearing how it sounds FIRST, which is absolutely absurd what this hobby has become.

I’m surprised no one has made a series of cases that pings at a certain frequency or something along those lines.

It's never about frequency. Back in the day, when group buy boards weren't getting sound tested they'd deliver and sound extremely hollow or worse pingy. When you're spending $300 on a kit, it matters. It became a standard to provide a sound test.

You guys are so serious on the sound part it’s hilarious. I honestly would not be surprised if you typed with your ears instead of fingers 😂

It's true man, we're always chasing that thock. Before we knew a lot about the different types of foam, people used to shove all sorts of stuff inside keyboards to make them sound better. It became a real science. Some customs were getting real bad near the spacebar and edges. The space between the PCB and the top of the bottom case can cause real issues. Stuffing the keyboard made it a lot better.

Nowhere in the post does it say it's a keyboard. Perhaps it's just a block of machined metal.

    I don’t. I’ve been seeing it everywhere and I think it’s a stupid trend.

    Yeah, I don't get it.

It's fine to like having a fancy weight on the bottom or whatever, but that's not the important part of the keyboard.

I keep seeing posts like "My new keyboard!" with a picture of the bottom. lol

It’s a tofu. I think 90% of us know what the top looks like. Once preorders are live there’s zero chance top renders won’t ve available. We talking about KBDfans here, not some random GB.

EDIT: There’s are literally renders on the website lol. Everyone getting triggered over a hype post of funny ash lol

  • The back, no front renders. No price. No sound video?

Did I wake up on another planet?

Edit: We've now reached the "Trust Me Bro" stage.

KBD fans has been around for a while. You think we're just entering that phase now, with a new KBD Fans GB, and not years ago with random-guy-on-a-forum GBs?

Fair enough I suppose, but then again that can be taken as "they know what people would be looking for." Mainly price, a sound test, and renders of a finished keyboard. Prototype pictures honestly of which there are none on the website either. We can't just be like "Of course it's KBD, my wallet opens automatically." We can trust them to deliver and have good QC, of course.

We’ve been at the trust me bro phase since group buys started over 10 years ago

I feel that. We went from "Trust Me Bro" to "Here is a sound test, renders, tons of prototype photos, foam, and sending copies of the keyboard to 7 twitch streamers" then back to "Trust Me Bro" again. I'm over exaggerating, but still.

I don't know what you're talking about. There are front renders and pricing both on the pre-order page and KBDFan's configuration tool.

I'm just surprised it wasn't here. I mean usually you'll post front and back right on Reddit instead of having to look it up. Same for price and a typing test.

  • The Tofu2.0 in my estimation, is one of the greatest and most important keyboards ever made. I got really excited when I saw this had ZMK. Connectivity is why I recently picked up a Neo60cu. I am very excited for this. Especially since my KBD8XMKIII’s SS weight is my favourite in my collection. Just unfortunate the keyboard budget has been depleted, given the Neo60cu.

  • can you please fix the website so we can actually see the colors?

    it’s chinese lmao

    Click English bro

thanks. can see it fine from pc, didn’t see it on mobile

  • Oh wow! Time to save up :)

  • Man it’s been a while since I’ve seen a tofu60. V3 looks sick! I might have to pick one up to satisfy my craving for another board!

  • God damn that's a lot of options.

  • Oh no. I wanted a black HHKB layout to go with my black Kbdfans Numpad. I looked everywhere for a black Tofu 2.0 case since I had it in another color. A couple of weeks ago I got the Agar. The rounded shape doesnt fit the numpad well I wish I had known about this! Oh well.

  • what’s the front height?

    The design file states 16.86mm.

  • Tofu 60 looks gorgeous but i really want the tofu65. Is there a date for the tofu65??

  • Nice nice, is the dualmode bluetooth/wired or 2.4/wired ?

    Bluetooth/Wired

Thanks, I guess a pass for me then.
