GMK Copper on the Void 65

Also appreciate any photography tips, I feel like the photos aren't coming out as good as they should haha

  • I agree. Copper is a fab set. I think out of all the sets I own, I had Copper on a board longer than any other. I think I had it on my work board for almost 2 years.

As for photography... Great photos need great lighting. You could have taken that shot on a Hasselblad X2D and apart from being higher resolution and sharper, would have looked identical. Two things that are constant truths with photography: Lighting is everything, and people take photos, not cameras; Cameras are just tools.

Look up some tutorials on lighting, as here's not the place to launch into a lighting tutorial, as it's quite the can of worms to open. You don't necessarily need to buy lighting equipment either. There are ways to use, modify and control daylight that work just as well.

Also, you need to think about what else is in the shot. I'm sure that's a lovely carpet to walk on, but it's quite a boring background. Contextualise the board. A nice desk setting, or if you do want something more abstract, or simple, then make it clean. That texture is quite "noisy" as a subject.

Thanks for the tips! I was using the carpet as daylight is not reaching my desk haha but I will look up some tutorials indeed

  • Nice build, does your spacebar had a cut in it?

The darker orange keys are made of a mixture of abs and copper powder (pretty cool!!) this results in such random patterns in these keys

  • The special caps with the metallic plastic were horrible. Not what I expect from GMK

Why so? Admittedly the spacebar sounds slightly worse but I do like their unique character

the finishes aren't great, "runny streaks" and mold injection blemishes...

The metal spacebars sound real bad...I was pretty bummed about it because I don't mind the streaky look so much and they weren't cheap. I also had a stem crack on one of the metal 1u accent keys, which has never ever happened to me before with a GMK cap
