Hello!

Been a lurker in the community, admiring from afar, and today my time has come. I play collegiate Overwatch, so I've been eyeing the Wootings for a while. When they announced they would be refreshing the 60HE, I felt the heavens open to me. A small fortune and the three longest weeks of my life later, she’s here! This was my first time building a keyboard "from scratch" and I'm super proud of how this guy turned out. I can’t wait to start taking it to LANs in the new season!

PARTS LIST:

Wooting 60HE v2 Module

Gateron Jade Max

Tofu 60 Redux w/ Brass Weight

Carbon Fiber Switch Plate

and Random Keycaps from Amazon that have the worst light bleed on the planet, but I wasn't planning on using RGB anyway, so it's all good

  • From the beginning, It's a rite of passage, not just a keyboard. Welcome to the group where badges of honor are awarded for solder burns.

  • Looks amazing! I obviously don't know the key cap set, but is there a chance that spacebar is upside down?

Edit: I say this primarily because of the color, but there is also a certain angle spacebars are designed to match the flow of the other caps.

Lots of game enthusiasts will flip the spacebar so the spacebar is on an angle making it easier to press when resting your hands. So yes, it is flipped, and it's purposeful.

It's only for resting thumb position and nothing else. Buttons are always more mechanically efficient when the surface angle is perpendicular to the direction it travels.

But I mean when you are resting your hand on the desk and have your thumb on an angle it's easier to press the spacebar that's on an angle as your thumb would cover more surface area if the space bars on an angle - not that it's easier to press up or down, I merely meant it was more comfortable.

Right, it's only for a comfortable resting position and nothing else. Every other metric, including the key press regardless of wrist/hand position is going to be worse. However I will say this is more on a technicality rather than a real-world measurable difference. And resting thumb position is something that would be most noticeable.

So you're agreeing with me? What's the point in replying and trying to argue when your entire reply agrees with mine.

I'm saying it makes it more comfortable, and that due to the thumb curving with the spacebar when your wrists are resting flat, it makes it easier (more comfortable) for you to press down rather than having to bend your thumb in a weird angle to press it down - not that it makes the key lighter, heavier, or that you can press it faster, but that it's easier for you to have more contact with the surface of the spacebar, making it more comfortable to press. Like you said even, it's not really a measurable difference.

But really it's mainly for comfortability and ease of use (being more comfortable, different wording), in which you agree with me.

No disagreeing on a technicality, but overall probably meaningless.

While it does promote bad form it's a more natural thumb placement for those that type with their wrist sitting flat.

    Which was exactly my point...

  • LOVE the primary colours 🤤

Only the blue is a primary colour

  • how much did it cost ?

  • That’s a gorgeous build!! Well done!! What’s the keycap set?!

  • I love seeing HE builds, 9 times out of 10 it's someone's first board because they're purely focused on gaming performance and have 0 idea what they're doing

    Kinda charming in a way
