1.7m is a stretch but I can see this selling for 1.4-1.5m. it sucks that this is the state of housing but it has the sqft and lot size to attract the right buyer. 111 days isn't bad at this price range.
Not a great use of someone's money. But it will still sell I guess eventually. Pretty sure the owner will always want to fix the weird love look of the entrance.
Sure I hate the huge arrow shaped entryway, as well as the white front door and garage, but this isn’t really a McMansion.
At this price point it’s expected for buyers to bring their own designer for landscaping and interior updates after closing, which will definitely complete this house nicely. Very typical for spec homes in the $1.5-3M range near me.
Yeah that’s exactly what I’m talking about. Spec builds in this price range are not doing hardscaping or landscaping because it’s too personal and they know the buyers will all want something different.
Someone may want an outdoor kitchen under the window to the left, another person may opt to enclose a large screened in porch, and someone else may just do more extensive patio/landscaping work. It looks boring right now but that’s the point. Too specific or updated and it’ll alienate too many buyers, making it harder to sell and justify the additional money needed to cover those personal touches.
Sold for $18,000 in 2001 and for $340k in 2021 ! phew! Probably one of those teardowns and rebuilds.
For sure it was. The whole town was post-war 3br <1500 sq feet houses, and now there are so many > 3500 sq ft now.
Man! And the post-war, 3-bed, 1500 sqft houses are usually built really well compared to the newer stuff! It just frosts my beans 🤬
$1m goes nowhere
Why are there so many sliding glass doors????
Are there two front doors?
yes architect's are trash now days
So thieves can do a little window shopping....
Those are not sliding doors up front.
There's a set of swinging glass doors for the entry on the left, and a set of french doors for the dining room to the front terrace.
Hopefully there’s a 1 million mail in rebate after purchase.
Lmao only?….
Edit: it’s a nice home but 111 days on Zillow speaks volumes.

Elmhurst used to be a quaint town until they started tearing down all of the old houses.
Rooflines:3
Window types: 4
Front doors: 2
Taste: 0
God forbid you let some light in!
I was gonna say, a million dollars should buy more windows than that
Holy shit that’s awful
Entry to front door looks like an upvote because no one would do that otherwise.
🤣
not to brag, but I have kitchen aid appliances in my paid off, all brick home that might touch $300k in a really good market. 🤪🤪🤪🤪
Finally. A real fuckin McMansion!
Completely sterile inside too.
This would look much better painted and decorated.
Not a surprise. I grew up nearby in Barrington Hills, and that price is about right for the area.
Fond memories of Barrington. My mom is from there. Grandparents were there from the 50’s until 2000’s. I don’t hear that place mentioned much.
And half of it's a garage, you could just go rent a garage for a lot less money
Wow talk about out of proportions.
This is the style for most of the new houses in that area. Easy to see by flipping through for sale listings

Not real wood floors. No jacuzzi tubs.
The LVP is a choice for sure.
Lots easier to take care of, so there's something to be said for that.
What’s with the old-timey ink pen overhang next to the Italian restaurant outdoor seating area all about, anyway? 👀
The back side of the house looks rlly ugly
That roofline over the front door is just weird.
Makes me think of Beetlejuice!

Did you look at the back of the house? Second pic. Interior is standard builder grade. I just think the outside is terrible for a new build.
Do a zillow search in that area for houses > 1.2M for sale, and you will see almost all look like that.

This box is not that appealing at 1.75M.
Sure is a house
Those gables are OFFENSIVE
Ugh, I am so sick of this white and black everything. Painting bricks white should get you thrown in the stocks in my opinion.
The horrible part is that you can never un-paint it. You will never get that more natural brownish-reddish hue back ever
So overpriced for the size of the house and most buyers in the area aren’t looking for homes in that price range
Oh God at first I thought I was on r/firsttimehomebuyer and I was worried for you
Just as I suspected: endless right angles when you walk in 😬
beautiful
What the hell is going on with those purple walls?? It looks like a padded room.Â
I'm so confused by that little glass room-ette. What is it? What is it for?Â
Not a McMansion
I wouldn’t classify this as a McMansion. It’s ugly but not a mansion.
What a disgrace to an attempted Tudor Revival feel.
It’s too small move to the Midwest and get a real house
Where is Illinois?
